How would you like to run miles outside every single day? It would be extremely challenging, but North Forsyth’s cross country team can handle it. The team practices everyday with the exception of Friday. Students may catch them running on the track or around on the trails. With practices everyday from 4:00 P.M. to about 5:00 P.M., the team members are bound to get in good physical shape. The team runs a 3.18-mile course in the woods and on the track. North Forsyth’s average time is twenty-four to twentyfive minutes. The seniors on the team this year are Justin Barnes and Dewalt Rice. The team has many new members this year, which include Tyler Christian, Sebastian Gomez, Hannah Thornton, and Kelsie Thornton. Other team members are Cynthia Barnes, McKenzie James, David Kessel, Cody Petree, Amanda Szyjka, and Matthew Tuttle. Junior Kelsie Thornton stated, “Cross country is challenging but worth it because you get yourself in shape.” Kelsie’s teammate, junior Sebastian Gomez, declared, “When the cramps come, you just have to suck it in and keep going.”

Kelsie and Hannah Thornton both run for the cross country team.
