Travel back to a time when knights protected the countryside and grand castles held kings and queens.
April 28 – May 2, 2014 During Medieval Week at THEMUSEUM, students will be immersed in hands-on activities, learning about what life was like hundreds of years ago. Become an expert in castle building, create a decorative illuminated manuscript, learn the challenges faced in medieval medicine, try your hand at archery and of course, master the art of
weaponry! Your class will revel in the excitement created by in-character facilitators as students move throughout THEMUSEUM all day, exploring different aspects of medieval life. Covers Grade 4 curriculum expectations for Heritage and Citizenship: Medieval Times. $12 per student (Full day program)
ALONG THE LINES OF COLOUR Grades 1, 2, 3 Investigate the elements of colour and line in this original, hands-on program and then create your very own masterpiece.
LITERALLY LANGUAGE Grades 1, 2, 3 Explore communication through history from hieroglyphs and symbols to acting and music. Learn to express yourself in many different ways.
ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES Grades 4, 5, 6 Develop a rich understanding of the elements of art through hands-on activities, then apply this learning to create a painting using a real canvas. COMPOSITION AND PERSPECTIVE Grades 7, 8 Expand your understanding of the elements and principles of design in this hands-on art making program. Explore the mediums of drawing and photography by practicing single-point perspective and rhythm techniques.
TECHNICALLY SPEAKING Grades 4, 5, 6 Examine media and its influence on people. Explore THEMUSEUM and use your imagination and creativity to take digital photos of the key elements of a story. Use them to create a story board of your very own adventure.
KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS MISSION POSSIBLE Use the tools in your detective kit to examine clues and experiment with evidence…then decide “who did it!” MEET THEMUSEUM Build your teamwork and social interaction skills by playing and experimenting in the exhibits.
Participate in interactive activities to learn about different forms of energy and discover what you can do to protect the environment. ENERGY AWARENESS AND CONSERVATION Grade 1 Become a link in a food chain and harness your own kinetic energy (‘kid energy’) in our plasma car station. Then, take apart a sun-wich and work as a team to learn about the importance of recycling. ENERGY FROM WIND AND MOVING WATER Grade 2 Investigate the effects humans have on the environment. Learn about the water cycle, usable water and the energy water and wind can provide us. CONSERVATION OF ENERGY AND RESOURCES Grade 5 Learn about the impact of different energy sources. Think about how our everyday actions can affect our environment and create an energy transferable car.

MATERIALS MATTER Grade 3 Learn about different kinds of materials used to build structures and experiment with their strength. Students will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to help them investigate the concept of structural stability. SOUNDS DELIGHTFUL Grade 4 Experiment with different materials, instruments and tools to explore the properties of light and sound and to discover how they are similar. SPACE Grade 6 Participate in a human model of our solar system. Then tour outer space and the night sky in our Star Lab planetarium.
HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS A HEALTHY START Grades K, 1, 2, 3 Meet KiM, our Kids in Motion mascot and learn about different parts of the body and how they work. Have fun moving and grooving to the routines of Fun, Fast and Fit to get your hearts pumping! Then learn about healthy foods while enjoying a fruit smoothie. LET YOUR SENSES GUIDE YOU Grades 4, 5, 6 Explore the human body, discover the effects of substance abuse while looking at real lungs, get your hearts pumping and enjoy a nutritional treat too! This program connects to curriculum in both Science & Technology and Health & Physical Education.

Immerse your class in an out-of-thisworld experience in our planetarium. Discover planets, moons, asteroids and comets while uncovering the relationships between the objects that make up our Solar System. Connects to the Science & Technology curriculum.
