BODY & SOUL Hygge activities aren’t reserved for your young brood. While the togetherness is healthy for them and undoubtedly delightful for you, you might want to indulge in your own hygge activities when the kids are out of the house. Here are some choice activities that will warm your heart and soul: Visiting the homebound or elderly, joining a Tehillim group, inviting friends over for lunch, or, if cooking and baking is a homey activity you enjoy, sign with a local bikkur cholim to perhaps cook a meal for a family that needs it. If you give the concept some thought, I’m sure there are many more ideas that will come to mind. But don’t just think of them — go for it!

Cozy Comfort Hygge, in essence, asks us to recognize our blessings and revel in the current moment. Beyond the soothing emotional and physical comfort, it hints toward deeper reflection and satisfaction. With our loud and loving families and frequently kindled candles, it is readily apparent that we don’t need Scandinavian guidance on how to fill our home with true warmth. But as we’re often told: We can learn from everyone. So perhaps the Danes can teach us a trick or two.
