The Red Ribbon has been making its way around WA and the volunteers of Fremantle have been signing the ribbon which will be tied around Government House in Perth on 5 December for International Volunteers’
Day. This will mark as a tribute to more than 600,000 Western Australians of all ages and walks of life whose volunteering contributions make the world a better place. Volunteers from all sorts of organisations across Fremantle signed the ribbon and others have written messages of support. The list includes but is not limited to the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation, the Conservation Volunteers, WA Museum, Fremantle Volunteer Heritage Guides, Save the Children, Fremantle Library and the One Stop Shop.

Lynette Buss The Uthando Project is a grassroots organisation of people who make dolls for children in South Africa who have been drastically affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Anyone can make a doll in these workshops. You will learn simple techniques to create a robust doll and a variety of clothing which you can donate to the project.

LAUGHTER YOGA Kim O’Meara (4 sessions) Laughter Yoga is a group session of aerobic activity which turns fake laughter into real laughter. It consists of handclapping rhythms, breathing exercises from Yoga, and playful laughter exercises. The brain cannot differentiate between fake laughter and genuine laughter, and provides the benefits of laughter anyway. In a group, laughter becomes contagious and the participants gain the benefits, which are well researched. If the course you have enrolled in is cancelled for any reason, you will be notified and course fees will be refunded via Cheque from the City of Fremantle Finance Department. If you withdraw from a course prior to the start of term you will be given a credit which can be used in the following twelve months. If you withdraw after the term has started it is not possible to issue credit or refund fees.
