Horsemanship

Linda Parelli Linda Parelli is the co-founder of Parelli Natural Horsemanship, the world’s most popular at-home horsemanship study program. For the past 20-plus years, she has teamed up with her husband, Pat Parelli, to provide education and inspiration to the world on the topic of natural horsemanship. Linda has studied and collaborated with many of the world’s finest horsemen, including Walter Zettl and Christoph Hess. She has applied her English riding background to her dedication to natural horsemanship methods, giving her a unique perspective into both worlds and allowing her to bridge the gap between the traditional and natural riding communities. Additionally, Linda is particularly interested in the concept of horse psychology; her popular Horsenality/Humanity concept has paved the way for thousands of horse owners to learn about their horses on a deeper level than ever before.

Geoff Teall Geoff Teall has been involved in the horse industry for over 35 years. He has trained hunter champions and reserve champions at shows such as Lake Placid, South Hampton, Winter Equestrian Festival, Capital Challenge, Devon, Harrisburg, Washington, and the National Horse Show. He has also trained equitation champions and reserves at all major horse shows including the USEF Medal Finals, USEF Talent Search Finals, and several different ASPCA Regional Finals. He has trained several jumper riders from the start of their jumper careers to their first Grand Prix wins. Geoff holds his “R” Hunter and Hunter Equitation license. He has judged most major hunter shows including the Winter Equestrian Festival, Washington International Horse Show and the National Horse Show. In the equitation division he has judged several ASPCA Regional Finals, the Royal Winter Fair, WIHS Equitation Finals, and the USEF Medal Finals.

Barrel Racing

Doug Leasor AQHA Professional Horseman, Doug Leasor, born and raised in Kentucky has found his niche with Quarter Horses even in the midst of Thoroughbred country.Leasor grew up competing in Team Roping and Barrel Racing and has trained horses that have gone on to excell in all diciplines. His many lifetime accomplishments include training 11 AQHA High Point title earners, Congress Champions, and AQHA World Championship Show finalists, many years exhibiting multiple horses to top ten finishes. He has been a captain and member of AQHA’s Team Wrangler for numerous years by being one of the top speed event riders in the nation. Doug also has a knack for teaching others as coach for many youth and amateur riders, including Paint World Champions and All American Quarter Horse Congress Champions.

Russ Krachun Russ Krachun was born and raised in the beautiful historic city of Odessa, Ukraine; a sea port on the Black Sea. He was introduced at a young age to the horse by his uncle who was a horseman and forest ranger. His uncle noticed his passion and interest in working and playing with horses and decided to teach him the ways of his ancestors, the Cossacks. As Russ learned about the Cossacks; he was very impressed with their physical abilities and how they used swords when they rode their horses, it was then that he also became interested in the sport of fencing. Russ spent the next nine years becoming a professional fencer using the sabre sword, and was awarded reserve junior champion of Ukraine. His brand of BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS – STEP BY STEP has built him recognition throughout his clinics, seminars, lessons and training challenges. The welfare of the horse is evident throughout every aspect of his horsemanship. The Russ Krachun Kozak Horsemanship program is truly an education, and is what many people have said is the missing link of developing communication with our horses.

Wayne and Jacqui Mack established Macks Charolais and Quarter Horses in 1989. Their farm is located just north of Campbellford, Ontario which is about a 2 hour drive east of Toronto. Macks Quarter Horses has been breeding quality Quarter horses for over 40 years. Their breeding focus has changed over the years from barrel racing to working cow horse bloodlines. Many of their horses can be seen competing in barrel racing, extreme cowboy and team penning events or out trail riding. They hope you enjoy getting to know a few of their horses at this show.

Trainers Challenge The Trainers Challenge is an unique opportunity to see 3 trainers put their skills to work to show the public their abilities and methods of training an unbroke horse. This is NOT the way these trainers would normally start a colt, what they do in the 3 days of the Challenge they might take 30 – 60 days or more. This Challenge is meant to be a venue to educate the public that there are more than one or two ways that you can start a colt and succeed at getting a quiet broke horse.

Kerry Kuhn Kerry’s passion for horses and training started at a very young age and has grown into a lifelong pursuit. He was born in Medicine Lodge, KS, in 1975 and has worked with horses ever since. At the age of 12, Kerry started his first two year old colt with the help of his grandfather, Dale Lukens. From then on, Kerry was motivated to learn as much as he could about communicating with horses and spent many days working horses and gathering cattle for local ranches with Dale. In high school, Kerry competed in rodeo as a calf, team and steer roper. He also spent several years training young thoroughbreds at a local racetrack. This diverse background built Kerry’s passion and love for communicating with horses and led him to see how important it was to help others become better leaders and communicators with their horses. Since the mid 90’s, Kerry has held horsemanship demonstrations and clinics all across the United States and Canada.

24 The Mane Event Show Guide

Kansas

The format is 3 – Trainers, 3 – Horses and 3 – Judges. Keep in mind that these horses will have just started their training to become that broke horse. The trainers are progressing far quicker than they normally would always keeping the horses best interest at heart.

Wisconsin

Ryan Rose Ryan Rose is a 4* Senior Parelli Instructor who has studied directly under Pat Parelli for four years. He began riding as a young boy and quickly became fascinated with horses. As he grew older, he realized that he wanted to make training horses and teaching people about horses his career. Since then he has sought out every opportunity to learn how to become a better horseman and teacher. He has personally started over 1,000 horses and has traveled around the world teaching horsemanship. Ryan is originally from Ironwood, Michigan and is currently based out of the Horse First Farm in Brooklyn, Wisconsin.

Saskatchewan

WARNING!! Riding horses can cause extreme Happiness which can lead to a very serious, expensive Horse Addiction!

Dale Clearwater Dale Clearwater grew up on a grain farm near Nipawin, Sask. He began working for the provincial pasture system at age 16. During his eight years on the pasture Dale refined his skills by attending as many clinics as he could and watching videos. Pasture work also taught Dale the art of working and handling cattle. After some early success in ranch horse competitions, Dale wanted to try competing at a higher level and decided to try the cowhorse arena. In preparation he spent winters working for a reining horse trainer and a cutting horse trainer. Following his last summer on the pasture Dale was hired by cutting and cowhorse trainer Brad Pedersen, where he spent a full year under his guidance. From Brad’s, Dale moved back to Saskatchewan to start up his own operation on what is now known as Justabouta Ranch. Dale has been successful in the cutting pen, but is more known for his success in the Reined Cowhorse Arena.
