Brief mechanism of Competition

This is a talent search competition (Chinese songs). Astro Star Quest 2011 marks the 15th year the Organiser has organized this Competition which is broadcast on its Astro Wah Lai Toi channel. The Competition comprises the following rounds: (a) Audition 20 contestants will be short listed to qualify for the Preliminaries; (b) Preliminaries 10 contestants will be eliminated during the Preliminaries. The remaining 10 contestants will be selected to qualify for the Semi-finals; (c) Semi-finals 5 contestants will be eliminated at this stage. The remaining 5 contestants (“Top 5 Finalists”) will be selected to qualify for the Grand Finals; (d) Grand Final Three (3) Grand Prize Winners will be selected from the Top 5 Finalists– Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up. The Contestants must adhere to the mechanism of the Competition as may be briefed and communicated to the Contestants by the Organizer during the Competition Period.

The Competition is open to all Malaysian Chinese who are fluent in the Mandarin and/or Cantonese language. (a) Employees of Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd, Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd, Astro Productions Sdn Bhd, Digital Five Sdn Bhd and Astro All Asia Network plc and their *immediate family members; (b) Employees of Cocoaland Holdings Berhad and their *immediate family members. *immediate family members means spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters

Age of Eligibility

The Competition is open to all Malaysian Chinese who are between 18 – 25 years of age in the year 2011 PROVIDED THAT:(a) as at 31 December 2011, the Contestant’s age shall not exceed 25 years;

Competition Period

(b) as at the audition date, if the Contestant’s age is less than 18 years (based on the Gregorian calendar), the Contestant must obtain the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian who shall be required to execute the relevant consent form in order to be eligible to participate in the Competition. 2 April 2011 to 23 July 2011 Audition Dates : 2 April 2011 to 3 April 2011. Venue : At the Address stated in Clause 13 below Time : 9.00am to 3.00pm

Entry Procedure

The Organizer reserves the right to amend, postpone or re-schedule the Competition Period or any of the dates thereof at its sole discretion. The Competition will be organized and produced by the Organizer in the Mandarin and/or Cantonese language. Contestants must fill in the Application Form (which can be obtained from www.astro.com.my/bendiquan and submit the same to the Organizer on the date of the audition. All entry submissions will have to be attached with the following supporting documents (which shall be non-returnable):i. One (1) clear photocopy of the Contestant’s Identity Card (new); and ii. Two recent 4R-size photographs of the Contestant (one half-length and full length) The Organiser shall be entitled to request to sight the original Identity Card or the originals of other

supporting documents/materials for verification and validation. Entry submissions must be received by the Organiser at the Audition Venue no later than 3.00pm on the respective Audition Date. Entries received before the commencement of the Audition Time and after the stipulated Entry Deadline will be not accepted for the Audition. In person at the Audition Venue on the Audition Dates Astro North Entrance All Asia Broadcast Centre Malaysia Technology Park Bukit Jalil 57000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Winners will be determined by a panel of judges in accordance with the format of the Competition. Champion Ringgit Malaysia Thirty-seven thousand (RM37,000.00) only. 1st Runner Up Ringgit Malaysia Seventeen thousand (RM17,000.00) only. 2nd Runner Up Ringgit Malaysia Ten thousand (RM10,000.00) only.

Notification of winners

Winners will be announced by the Organizer at the end of the Grand Final of the Competition.

Additional Terms, if any

or any other venue as may be advised by the Organizer. A) Contestants who were the finalists in the Grand Finals of the previous seasons of the Competition are allowed to enter this Competition. B) The Contestant must be free from any contractual obligation/arrangement or any other legal encumbrance, which may prevent him/her from participating in this Competition and/or entering into a possible service or management contract with the Organizer after the Competition; C) The Contestant understands and agrees that:-: i) The selection of contestants during the Audition who will qualify as Contestants of the Competition shall be at the Organizer’s sole discretion whose decision shall be final. ii) The Organizer has the right to request the Contestant to change the Contestant’s songs for the Competition as the Organizer deems fit.

D) The Top 5 Finalists is accorded the opportunity to directly participate in the preliminary round of the ONE MILLION STAR COMPETITION 2011, an international competition which is held in Taiwan (“OMS Competition”), by-passing the audition rounds of the OMS Competition. The Top 5 Finalists acknowledge and agree that:i) Participation in OMS Competition is at his/her own discretion and risks; ii) All cost and expenses incurred by taking part in the OMS competition will have to be borne by the Top 5 Finalists themselves (including without limitation) flight tickets, accommodation, food, transportation and clothing; iii) The Organiser is not in any way responsible for any liabilities or obligations (howsoever arising) in connection with the OMS Competition and the Top 5 Finalists participation therein; iv) The Organiser reserves to right to accord the same opportunity to any other contestant(s) in the Competition to participate in the OMS Competition in place of any of the Top 5 Finalist who declines the opportunity. The Basic Terms and the Standard Terms and Conditions (collectively “Terms and Conditions”) shall be binding on all contestants who participate in this Competition (“Contestants”). The definitions in the Standard Terms shall apply unless otherwise expressly agreed in the Basic Terms. In the event of any inconsistency between the Competition Standard Terms and Conditions and the Basic Terms, the Basic Terms shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency. Entry and participation in the Competition shall be deemed an unconditional acceptance by the Contestants of the Terms and Conditions.
