THE NEW YEAR
GOLF UPDATE

Another great year is in the books with another season right around the corner for all our members to enjoy. The year 2022 will go down as our most successful year to date in terms of rounds and participation. We can’t thank you enough for all your support of the golf operation. We hope this year you will make plans to participate as we have a plethora of events for all levels of golfers.
The 2023 golf booklet should be mailed out early February and will contain the year's schedule and details along with information on juniors, ladies, and men’s clinics. Our staff is ready to get your golf game going to its next level. Take advantage of these opportunities to get some valuable instruction and set some goals to reach your fullest potential. Our fitting center at the academy is state-of-the-art and we have most all fitting capabilities. Look in the golf booklet for our schedule for fitting days.
Our Pro-Shop will be stocking up for spring before you know it and we will have some great options from all the top name golf lines as well as some casual offerings. If you have any corporate plans for your employees or customers, please give us a chance to save you some money. We do a lot of business for our members in this category. We are easy to work with and we have a wealth of knowledge and help in this arena. Give us a call and we will be glad to put a presentation together for you.
Parents of junior golfers, please join us for an informational meeting on February 7 or February 8 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This year we are offering two meeting dates to give parents a chance to make it to the meeting. We have some new things happening this year that we are excited to be introducing into our junior programs. Please make sure to get to one of the dates. If you can’t make either date let us know and we can sit down with you and show you what we have planned. We are looking forward to an incredible year. See you on the course!

COURSE UPDATE
FROM JIM HOWELL DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMYWe are ready for a new season in 2023 and have many projects taking place on the golf course and grounds. Last fall we completed dredging the ponds on holes 13 and 14, and added a small creek bed in between them. This spring we plan to install several pumps to recirculate the water to create a stream effect. This will be a nice aesthetic change to the area. The two holding ponds were also dredged last fall. In addition, the pump on 16 was moved and rewired for operation this season.
This winter we are scheduled to add new sand to several fairway and greenside bunkers. Some fingers and noses surrounding the bunkers will receive a new change and some fresh sod. Years of sand build up on the edge the grass tends to cause it to weaken and collapse, so they are needing attention. We will also upgrade some of the fescue areas by adding water so the turf stand can survive the stress of the summer heat. This year we plan to try several new varieties of fine fescue to see which ones survive the climate and are aesthetically pleasing to the golf course.
Overall, I believe the Agronomy team did a wonderful job maintaining the conditioning of the golf course and tournaments last season. We had a solid crew and some new help that fit in well.
We all look forward to the new season.
