RESORT SPECIAL Playa Blanca is the newest of Lanzarote´s tourist resorts, but the one whose appeal is perhaps the most enduring.
JEWEL OF THE SOUTH
Separated from the rest of the island by a ridge of volcanoes, Playa Blanca nestles on calm southern shores, with ever-present views of the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura and the spoon-shaped Isla de Lobos. The resort itself boasts magnificent beaches with plenty of facilities, while the wild, worlds-end charm of Papagayo is just a short walk away. Playa Blanca itself offers a busy, attractive town centre full of shops, restaurants and lively bars, and it has a number of separate zones which each offer their own attractions. There´s a luxury marina, a working harbour with regular ferries to Fuerte, a water park, a driving range and plenty more on offer in the Beautiful South, and this is a part of the island that is rapidly improving- with a new harbour extension that will bring cruise tourism and better links to the town. Yet at heart Playa Blanca is all about peace and relaxation. It´s a town that always seems warmer and sunnier and more relaxed than the rest of the island.
