Bulletin Editor Statement

Hello Chiles!

Happy January and welcome to 2023! In case you don't know me, m name is Rebekah Allen and I am your 2022-2023 Southwest District Bulletin Editor! This year I am a senior at Campo Verde High School in Arizona. While not in Key club, I am volunteering with other clubs on my campus, reading, or watching any new star wars or marvel shows. Now that it is january, we are getting close to DCON! Clubs should get registered if they haven't.

I can't wait to see what we do before that time comes! If you have any questions feel free to reach out!

GOVERNOR'S STATEMENT

Hey Southwest, I hope you all had a fantastic holiday break and a great start to the new year! The new year brings with it a new opportunity to serve your community and to look for ways to grow Key Club at your school. One great way to accomplish both of these goals is to advertise new service events that will take place in the coming months. If you are looking for service ideas, check out the monthly district service project later in the newsletter.

As a district, we have done an outstanding job raising money and awareness for the Governor's Project. We have raised well over $10,000 and have given over 400 people access to clean water for life. We only need $2,000 to fully fund the construction of a freshwater well. I want to say thank you to everyone who has participated in this campaign. Without every Key Club working together, our success would not have been possible. We have a few more months left in the service year and I am confident that we can hit our goal of $12,000 before the end.

The last big update is that the Southwest District Convention is just around the corner. Please check your inbox for emails from your Lieutenant Governor with more information. With that being said, I hope you all have an amazing January and a fantastic second semester! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Lieutenant Governor.

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT

OUR PARTNERS Our Goal

This year we will be partnering with the Eastern Canada District to raise money for our Key Club International partner, the Thirst Project. The Thirst Project is a nonprofit dedicated to ending the global water crisis. They work with students from across the world to raise money for water projects that provide clean drinking water to entire communities. The majority of their work is done in rural Eswatini, a small nation located in southern Africa.

Our goal is to have every Key Clubber in the Southwest District raise enough money to provide one person with clean water for life.

The Cost

It only costs $25 to give a person clean water for life. If the entire Southwest District comes together, we can give clean water to over 4000 people.
