On a hot sunny day, July 5, 1950, the world was graced with my presence. I, William Earl Moore III known as Billy Moe, was reared by my grandmother, Annie Mitchell, due to the untimely death of my parents.

Being a member of Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was the word of God that kept me rooted through the years. God’s grace and mercy sustained me throughout my life, for God knew my pain and He … knows my name.

I have WALKED around Memphis all my life and my Heavenly Father knows each step. With each stride He wiped away all my tears and fears.

I was a man of few words therefore my mind stored many life memories, and I do appreciate and cherish the magnificent nurturing skills of, Margaret Lacey Monger, the mother of my three fantastic children. I did have a rocky start, but it was my faith that kept me whole. Eyes would see the marvelous work of God through me (my children).

There were times I came by, if only for a moment, to see my three heartbeats: Mickey, Donnie and Tee. You three meant the WORLD to me. My love for you have always been there and in my own way, I DID love each of you in a special way. I may not have shown my love directly to you. I may not have known each of you in that traditional dad/child way; however, I did keep up with each of you. I can only pray that each of you can find it in your heart to forgive my shortcomings . Please allow the love of me that has been passed through to each of you, remain. You were my three greatest accomplishments…my love…my gain.

It was God’s will that our paths would reconnect. I only hope that you remember me as everything that you expected and wanted and needed me to be. It was my hope to be so much more to each of you. Forgive me for the missed times and remember the me times shared. My time has passed, and God will fill in the rest.

Like footprints in the sand God always gives His best…no more promise calls from Billy to home.

I had a million dollar walk and swag. No one could wear a hat like me. I had a keen since of fashion and wore the latest styles. I grew up on Parkway in Glenview Heights. My good buddy, Charles McChriston, who took care of me. I matriculated at Hamilton High School. Playing baseball was my passion. I worked in the service industry, but I spent the majority of my career as a professional painter. I had the opportunity to spend my later years around my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I spent my final years living with two of my grandsons Marq and Chris. Two friends, Anthony Duncan and Darren Jackson, who stayed with me till the end.

On Sunday May 23, 2021, God called me Home. My mission had been completed. I joined my parents Shirley Jackson and William Earl Moore II, along with my grandmother Annie Mitchell in heaven.

I leave behind one son, William Earl Moore IV, LaDonnica Moore Blakemore (Maurice), DeShonna Moore Robinson (Gene, II), and Freemon Monger, Jr.(bonus son): 11 Grandchildren: Marqwion Moore, Gabrielle Blakemore, Christopher Blakemore, Gene Robinson III, Alexandria Blakemore, Darion Morton, DeCarrius Williams, Lacey Moore, Queen Moore, Christina Williams, and William Williams: 6 Great- Grandchildren: Chrissy Blakemore, Carrington Blakemore, Dallas Moore, Princeton Moore, Rowan Robinson, and Paige Moore. Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepard. I shall want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters, and He restored my soul; He leadeth me in the right paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me and the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Acknowledgements

When it seemed that our loss was too great to bear, we looked up and all of you were there. You were there with many of expressions to show that each of you cared.
