Earl Kitchener spotted by Mike Hill at CarFest
When Chief Executive Mike Hill and his wife Caroline visited CarFest recently they were expecting to see a variety of vehicles, but probably not the steam engine which Mike’s great grandfather, Edward Hill, founder of the company, purchased in 1900.
The Earl Kitchener steam engine is now proudly owned by Dave Fowler who purchased it in 1992 – nearly 90 years after Edward Hill!
The steam powered Earl Kitchener was used by Hills in the early part of the 20th Century.
Mike said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes! I saw it from a distance and said straight away that it was the Earl Kitchener. It was fantastic to see it and in such good quality. I even had the pleasure of driving it! It is clearly cherished and the owner was so pleased to show it off to me.”
