Page 2 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello Everyone, I hope you are all settling back into your normal routines after the Christmas and New Year holidays. It all gets a bit “strangely” chaotic for a while and then goes back to the normal weekly chaos, don’t you find? I hope you all enjoyed yourself at the home meeting last week. Thank you, once again, Keith and Lyn for your kind hospitality; we had a great time. The ladies of the Inner Wheel who did the catering for us, did a fantastic job, serving us food fit for a King. Thank you so much. I have heard from President Robyn who has thanked us for the opportunity and has let us know that, between the catering fee and the raffle, they managed to raise $540 toward their charities of choice. It is great to know that a night, so enjoyed by us all, also managed to help others in the community. This week we have Alice Wong coming along to tell us all about the 2013 Shen Yun performance, which should be very interesting – we also have an added bonus. Some of you may remember Bless Salonga, the young lady that Michael Griscti brought along as a potential member at one stage. Bless, together with a group of friends and colleagues has raised a large sum of money towards a Filipino project that she would like us to help disburse, alongside a Filipino Rotary Club with whom her group have made contact. Tonight she is coming along to talk to us about it. I have been exchanging emails with our exchange student Laura who arrives from Brazil on the 28 th January; as you can imagine is starting to get very excited. Most of you would have received the email from Alan with the Working with Children forms that we need partners to complete. It would be appreciated if these could be completed ASAP and returned to Alan. If you have any queries, please let me know.

President Bobby Redman Warmest regards,

President Bobby Redman

* Happy Anniversary wishes to Haran and Ahsha Ramachandran. We hope you have a lovely day on the 19th.

Last Meeting -

Monday 7th January 2013

Our first meeting for 2013 was a home meeting held at the home of Keith and Lyn Stapley. It was a lovely balmy evening with a great turn-out. Thank you, Keith and Lyn, for your kind hospitality and thank you to the ladies of the Inner Wheel Club of Baulkham Hills who did the catering for the night. The ladies provided a fantastic meal, and also laid on an excellent raffle with numerous prizes, managing to raise a total of $540 (less cost) towards their chosen charities.

Joke of the Week Take care when shopping at the Supermarket When I was ready to check out and pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." I became rather flustered but being a law abiding citizen and believing that there was clearly a major security issue at the store, I did just as she had instructed. After the shrieking and hysterical remarks finally subsided, I found out that he was referring to how I should position my credit card. Nonetheless, I've been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. For goodness sake, they need to make their instructions a little clearer for seniors...
