2|Page President’s Message Hello fellow Rotarians, Thanks Ray for organizing the fun night at “The Brewery”. Nice to see so many wives attend as well as Alan’s son, Simon. Thank you to Keith and Wilf for organizing the club’s Melbourne Cup Sweep. I believe Robyn and Gordon have decided to spend their winnings in Norfolk Island. Hope you both have a nice holiday. Welcome home Jim and Vivien and thanks to Christine and Milan Zec for hosting Laura whilst Jim and Vivien were enjoying a well deserved holiday in the US. Laura will be returning home mid-December and her farewell presentation to our club will be on Monday 9th December. More dates to register in your diaries: Sunday, 24th November - Christmas Cruise to Royal Motor Yacht Club, Newport and Saturday, 14th December - Club Christmas Party at Rod’s home. Am sure all members know that Monday is Remembrance Day. I have organized the appropriate “Lest We Forget” wreath on behalf of our club for the ceremony on Monday at Castle Hill RSL. If any members can attend be at the entrance of the club by 10.45am. President Rob.
No Anniversaries this week but we would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Thomas Cann (11th) and Patricia Pearce (14th) ***************
Congratulations to all those who won money in our Melbourne Cup sweepstake, kindly organised by Keith and Wilf. Gordon and Robyn Scoble, who between them took out first prize in both the $5 and $2 sweep, think that they can hide out on Norfolk Island to avoid coughing up in the fines session….but we’ll be waiting for your return Gordon!!!!!!!!!
Last Meeting – Monday 4th November - Reported by Bobby Redman There was no formal aspect to last weeks “Away Meeting / Vocational Meeting” at the Australian Hotel otherwise known as The Brewery, at Rouse Hill. In fact from what I could see a good time was had by all. There was an excellent turn-out of Members and their guests. It was lovely to see so many partners; sons and daughters; and even grandchildren – a great family event. In Jim’s absence, Vivien Sifonios held the fort and brought Laura along to enjoy the evening; Alan brought his charming son, Simon – who was particularly interested in the night, being a bit of a beer connoisseur; and the prize for the largest number of guests goes to Bruce Pike who along with his wife Wendy and their daughter, also brought their grandchildren. Unfortunately we were unable to persuade the Management to take us on an organised tour of the manufacturing plant, which we were lucky enough to do last time; but we did have a lovely meal and the opportunity to taste a section of the special beers produced at the Brewery. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm shown by a few of the Members in ensuring that the Hills-Kellyville support local manufacturing – well done guys Thanks must go to Keith and Wilf who organised the Melbourne Cup Sweep for the night. Great effort, guys. For your pleasure, here are a few photos taken on the night. If anyone would like a copy of any of the photos please let me know and I will organise them.
