Town of Weddington Welcomes New Deputy The Town of Weddington would like to welcome Deputy Joseph Kropp as the newest member of the town’s police force. Deputy Kropp is originally from North August, SC which is located just across the Savannah River from Augusta, Georgia. He has been employed by the Union County Sheriff’s Office since August 2018, where he was originally assigned to the Judicial Center before being reassigned to The Town of Weddington.

Deputy Kropp is a resident of Indian Trail where he lives with his wife and ten-month-old baby girl. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending time playing billiards. He is a member of the American Pool Association and played on an eight and nine ball league team prior to relocating to North Carolina. Welcome, Deputy Kropp!

Deputy Kropp was drawn to a career in public service as a young child and comes to us with a total of 15 years of experience. He began his career in law enforcement with the Georgia Department of Corrections, later moving on to work for the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. The next eleven years were spent working for the Augusta University Police Department where he was promoted and served as Sergeant for nine of those years. Because most individuals will not have interactions with law enforcement, it is important for Deputy Kropp to get to know the community through preventive patrols. He would like the citizens of Weddington to be familiar with his face and to be comfortable approaching him.

March 11th Town Council Meeting Recap At the March 11, 2019 Town Council Meeting the Council recognized Pastor Chris Edwards on 15 years of service to Graceway Baptist Church. Captain Cody Luke, with the Union County Sheriff’s Office, introduced Weddington’s new Deputy Joseph Kropp. Wesley Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Stephen McClendon, presented Council with the Fiscal Year 2020 fire departmet budget. The Council called for a public hearing to be held on April 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Weddington Town Hall for Weddington Swim and Racquet Club’s Amendment to the Conditional Use Permit for Change in Lighting Requirement. The Council approved a Conditional Zoning Amendment for Christ Lutheran Church located at Rea Road and Reid Dairy Road. They heard a presentation by Adam Thomas of Encounter Athletics about a proposed recreation center at the corner of Hemby Road and Weddington Matthews Road and Council also heard a presentation on branding from Jeni Bukolt from Haven Creative.
