RHEOLWRAIG THEATR THEATRE MANAGER

Our development plans for the building are still moving along – working closely with the NPTC Group of Colleges, Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales, we hope to be able to release some exciting news in the very near future. Once again, my thanks for your support in these challenging times – we’ve received substantial cuts in our public funding, however, your support enables us to continue to bring Montgomeryshire a high quality programme that many other rural regions are envious of. We rely on volunteers to assist with our operation. If you have a few hours in an evening to spare and are interested in joining our friendly team then Duty Manager, Mark Michaels, would love to hear from you. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

WINNER OF 4 INTERNATIONAL FRINGE FESTIVAL AWARDS

A REGULAR LITTLE

HOUDINI Produced by Flying Bridge Theatre Ltd Written and performed by Daniel Llewelyn-Williams Directed by Joshua Richards
Music by Meg Cox Newport, South Wales: A dockworker’s son, smitten by Harry Houdini, dreams of magic – to “escape” his suffocating, Welsh-working-class Edwardian reality. His parents struggle with their son’s eccentricity, but doggedly training himself to emulate his hero on the industrial detritus, his relentless ambition finally brings him face-to-face with the world’s greatest showman - and one of the most terrifying events in British industrial history. Is it possible to follow one’s dreams when poverty weighs you down like mud? An enchanting story that blends childhood imagination with the cynicism of adulthood. Daniel Llewelyn-Williams recently won ‘Best Actor’ at the Wales Theatre Awards and is currently playing Dr Rhys Thomas in Eastenders.

BABULUS Gwyn Emberton, Eddie Ladd and ilDance present

Music by Oscar Collin | Lighting and design by Joe Fletcher

Babulus brings together Gwyn Emberton and Eddie Ladd once again, in this intimate dance theatre production. They are joined by choreographers Lee Brummer and Israel Aloni from Swedish dance company ilDance and Finnish choreographer Johanna Nuutinen as part of iCoDaCo 2016 (International Contemporary Dance Collective). With dance, song and storytelling across multiple languages, Babulus questions the how and why of communication and what we do when we have no words to hide behind. It asks what happens when our means to communicate is taken away from us and if censorship and self-censorship are one and the same.

Cyflwynir ‘Babulus’, cynhyrchiad Gwyn Emberton ac Eddie Ladd sy’n llawn dawns byw.

OPERA CANOLBARTH CYMRU

THE

MAGIC FLUTE Mozart’s fantastical opera, with its glorious mix of myth, ritual and pantomime, tells its tale of magic, power and love with music as enchanting and spectacular as the plot is mysterious. A true testament to Mozart’s genius, The Magic Flute is packed with some of the composer’s most recognisable music, from heartfelt duets and comic exchanges to one of opera’s most formidable and memorable arias, that of The Queen of the Night. Sung in English by a stellar cast of young professionals and accompanied by MWO’s own brilliant orchestra, this widely anticipated first production by MWO’s new artistic team – director/designer Richard Studer and conductor Jonathan Lyness – launches a new era in the company’s history. Mae opera ryfeddol Mozart, gyda’i chyfuniad godidog o chwedl, defod a phantomeim, yn dweud hanes hud, pŵer a chariad drwy gerddoriaeth sydd mor swynol a syfrdanol â rhyfeddod y plot. Yn The Magic Flute, sy’n brawf pendant o athrylith Mozart, y clywir cerddoriaeth fwyaf adnabyddus y cyfansoddwr. O ddeuawdau teimladwy a chyfarfyddiadau llawn hiwmor i un o unawdau mwyaf arswydus a chofiadwy’r byd opera, unawd Brenhines y Nos.

Mid Wales Opera and The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama present a co-production:

SEMELE HANDEL’S MASTERPIECE OF BAROQUE OPERA

In association with

ACADEMY OF ANCIENT MUSIC Conductor Nicholas Cleobury Director Martin Constantine First performed during Lent 1744 at Covent Garden, Handel’s Semele instantly caused a stir. The production used Congreve’s libretto based on Ovid’s Metamorphoses bringing to life Semele’s ill-fated love for Jupiter King of the Gods. Undoubtedly one of the jewels of baroque opera, it features the stunning tenor aria “Where’er you walk” and Semele’s breathtaking “Endless pleasure, endless love”. Perfformiwyd Semele Handel am y tro cyntaf yn ystod y Grawys yn 1744 yn Covent Garden a pherodd gyffro o’r perfformiad cyntaf. Roedd y cynhyrchiad yn defnyddio libereto Congreve yn seiliedig ar Metamorphoses Ovid i ddod â hanes trasig cariad ofer Semele tuag at Jupiter Brenin y Duwiau yn fyw. Heb os nac oni bai, mae’r gwaith yn un o berlau opera Faróc. Mae’n cynnwys yr unawd tenor syfrdanol “Where e’er you walk” a’r gorfoleddus “Endless pleasure, endless love”.

BETH PRIOR

2016 saw Beth raise over £7k in a month to produce her debut studio album, record it, market it AND tour it across the UK with her 7-piece Collective and although she appears laid bare for this event and with just a guitar, she is no less spirited. “Beth Prior is a law unto herself. Her songs are carefully structured, and she has clearly studied songwriting a great deal. But she disguises the meticulous construction so well behind her rough and tumble indie aesthetic and stage presence that is never pretentious or boring. She is both impulsive enough to carry a show in a dingy Cellar, and melodic enough to fill venues ten times the size. This is the paradox with Prior’s music, and it makes her all the more captivating as an artist.” Oxford Culture Review 2016 Tickets £2.50 | Couples £4 | Groups of 4 £6 | Groups of 10 £10 | #HafrenBethPrior

Bydd eich galwadau i archebu dros y ffôn yn cael eu hailgyfeirio i beiriant ateb yn ystod 30 munud cyn perfformiadau er mwyn galluogi staff y Swyddfa Docynnau i ddelio gydag ymwelwyr sy’n cyrraedd.

AD-DALIADAU A CHYFNEWIDIADAU Mae Hafren yn gwerthfawrogi ymrwymiad cwsmeriaid i’r theatr trwy archebu’n gynnar ar gyfer achlysuron ac yn cydnabod y gall newidiadau ddigwydd o ran cynlluniau. Mewn achos o’r fath, os bydd tocynnau’n cael eu dychwelyd i’r swyddfa docynnau, gwnawn bob ymdrech i’w hail-werthu i gwsmeriaid eraill. Ni ellir sicrhau hyn gan y bydd tocynnau’r theatr yn cael eu gwerthu’n gyntaf. Os bydd y theatr yn llwyddo i ail-werthu’r tocynnau, bydd y swyddfa docynnau’n trefnu credyd i chi am werth y tocynnau, i chi ei ddefnyddio wrth archebu unrhyw docynnau yn y dyfodol. Bydd y trefniant hwn yn gymwys ar gyfer y prynwr gwreiddiol y tocynnau. Yn anffodus, yn unol â mwyafrif o theatrau proffesiynol eraill, nid yw’n bosibl gwneud ad-daliadau ariannol am docynnau sydd wedi’u prynu eisoes.

CYFLEUSTERAU I’R ANABL Mae dau le parcio wedi’u neilltuo ger drysau ffrynt y theatr ar gyfer y rhai sy’n berchen ar Fathodynnau Glas. Dylai unigolion sy’n defnyddio cadair olwyn ddefnyddio prif fynedfa Coleg Powys er mwyn manteisio ar y drysau awtomatig. Mae’r mynediad i’r Swyddfa Docynnau, Bar yr Oriel, a’r Awditoriwm yn wastad. Mae lle i 6 cadair olwyn ar gael o flaen y prif seddau, a dylid trefnu lle ymlaen llaw ar gyfer hyn. Mae arwydd llachar yn dynodi’r toiledau, ac mae mynedfa i gadair olwyn a thoiled pwrpasol ar gael. Mae yna system cylchwifrau (loop system) i gwsmeriaid sydd â nam ar y clyw a gall y rhai sydd am ddefnyddio’r system honno droi pob teclyn clyw i ‘T’. Gellir gofyn hefyd am glustffonau. Gallwch wneud cais i dderbyn gwybodaeth am achlysuron y theatr mewn print bras.

LLUNIAETH Bydd bar y theatr ar agor awr cyn cychwyn pob perfformiad, a hefyd yn ystod yr egwyl ac ar ôl pob perfformiad. Er mwyn manteisio ar yr egwyl, awgrymwn eich bod yn archebu eich diodydd ymlaen llaw, gan y gall y bar fod yn brysur dros ben yn ystod yr egwyl. Mae siop goffi’r theatr a’r bwth hufen iâ hefyd ar agor yn ystod perfformiadau’r hwyr.

HYNT Mae Hynt yn gynllun mynediad cenedlaethol newydd sy’n gweithio gyda theatrau a chanolfannau celfyddydau yng Nghymru i sicrhau bod cynnig cyson ar gael i ymwelwyr â nam neu ofynion mynediad penodol ac i’w Gofalwyr a’u Cynorthwywyr Personol. Bydd y wefan yn nodi popeth fydd angen i chi ei wybod am Hynt; ar gyfer pwy mae Hynt, beth mae’n ei ddarparu, a sut i ddod yn aelod. Os oes angen cefnogaeth neu gymorth arnoch i fynychu perfformiad mewn theatr neu ganolfan gelf, yna efallai y byddwch yn gymwys i ymuno â Hynt. PERFFORMIADAU HAMDDENOL Bydd perfformiadau hamddenol ar agor i bawb, ond bydd awyrgylch y theatr wedi ei addasu yn arbennig ar gyfer teuluoedd sydd a (little roof on the ‘a’) phlant gydag Awtistiaeth, unigolion gyda chyflwr synhwraidd a chyfathrebol yn ogystal a’r rheina sydd efo anawsterau dysgu. Yn wir gall unrhyw un fanteisio ar awyrgylch mwy hamddenol y theatr yn ystod y cyfnodau hyn.
