BYRCHENDALE - THE PERFECT COUNTRY CANVAS It really is the ultimate country location. Down a tree lined back road on the outskirts of Murchison, Byrchendale is the newest wedding venue in the Goulburn Valley’s very own backyard and has filled a gap in the wedding venue market for the area. Sitting pretty, surrounded by the sweet sounds of birds chirping and the peace of the bush, this pristine property has everything you could imagine. Before you even enter the gates, you and your guests will be wowed but the visual impact of their stunning open air chapel. With hand crafted open windows, grand entry doors and a quaint ceremony platform, the chapel creates a relaxed, magical environment. This unique chapel with its elegant yet simple style complemented by a large wrought iron chandelier captures the formal feel of a chapel yet provides the warmth and informality of an outdoor ceremony. (6)

The cherry on top of Byrchendale is the property’s newly built reception barn incorporating ancient recycled materials, an amazing staircase leading to the upstairs bridal suite, huge chandeliers, gorgeous views and a Chesterfield lounge area. Everything is there for your guests’ delight. The owners of Byrchendale have lived in the area for years and have managed to create a dream wedding venue coupled with their warm country hospitality. The best part… the venue is absolutely gorgeous just as it is, but it also allows you the opportunity of decorating it with your own style if you’d prefer. It’s perfect for those not wanting to go to the trouble of beautifying OR for those looking to add all their Pinterest ideas to a blank canvas. It really is the whole package and if you’re getting married, you absolutely have to check it out!

AN INDUSTRY AFFAIR - ANTHONY & GRACIE You can only image how hard it is to plan a wedding, with all the appointments, quotes, decisions & bookings it can be pretty overwhelming for the best of us! But what if you were so heavily involved in the wedding industry and trying to plan your very own wedding? Would you feel pressure for your day to be a certain way? Would you feel expectation to have the perfect affair? For Anthony of AJR Films and his now wife Gracie (Congrats guys!), being in the industry was a bonus, the only difficult part for them was living apart while they were in planning mode, and even though that was occasionally tricky, they say it kept them focused. “The hardest part about planning our wedding was being apart during the process. We planned our wedding in 8 months with one of us living in Melbourne and the other in Shepparton. It was tricky at times, but also kept us focused. It actually wasn’t as difficult as we thought it might be. Being involved in the industry exposes you to so many great suppliers it makes it quite easy to identify your personal tastes” Of course everyone wants to put on the greatest soiree and because a wedding

is a super special occasion it brings it’s own set of unique emotions when choosing the style and vibe. For Anthony and Gracie, working in the industry made planning the celebration of their love, easy! “There’s always a desire to host the perfect event, which creates plenty of its own anxiety. I think being exposed to the wedding scene helped as it made it quite easy to visualise how we wanted our wedding to be. The end result. Watching everything come together on the day was such a rewarding feeling. You spend so much time planning; conceptualising and counting down, that when it all works out you’re very content.” Plus now they are man and wife and have experienced the process for themselves they believe it will make their story telling even better (if that’s possible?). “I think it’s actually been a massive help for our own business as we were able to experience things from the other side. We’re now able to relate to the bride and groom in a way we couldn’t before our own wedding”

THE BRIDESMAID DIARIES - CALL OF DUTY Sometimes being a bridesmaid can be a full on job! From Hen’s Party planning to Bridal Shower gaming... reality is, there is a hell of a lot going on in the lead up to a wedding and a bridemaid’s duties are 100% to stop the bride from boiling over in the stress department! There is no doubt in the world that being asked to be bridesmaid for your bestie, or anyone in fact is an honour and a privilege that should not be taken lightly. After all she is asking you to be one of the few people to stand beside her and support her through one of the biggest moments of her life. Today we are getting real and laying it all out on the line, it’s EXHAUSTING! Sometimes you spend months or years consumed by helping your friend find the perfect dress or searching for unique ideas for guest gifts, then it comes to picking songs for the day and organising the order of events for the evening... the list, at times (most of the time), feels endless, until finally you are on the dance floor busting a move at the end of the

(36)

wedding reception and a few short hours later, CRASH BANG your head hits the pillow and you breathe a sigh of relief... its over. May you find comfort in knowing that most of us have been there AND if someone tells you it was the funnest, easiest thing they have ever done they are lying! Firstly protecting your bestie SHOULD be hard work, - being a ‘bestie’ is a pretty big deal! But the truth is …. when it’s over you’ll wonder why you whinged about this privilege so much, you’ll absolutely regret sometimes resenting how much time, effort and money you have spent on one day and you will, despite how tired you are by the time the day comes around, actually enjoy and miraculously form fond memories of the time you got to be your bestie’s bridesmaid! And aside from the whole process being exhausting, you’ll have created another precious memory you’ll never forget together.

AMY - SIMPLY STEMS Amy is one of those all round creative types who can make magic happen with everything she sets her mind (and her hands) to. After studying and working in the fashion industry for seven years, Amy was looking for a new challenge and a position became available at Simply Stems Boutique Florist. She quickly fell in love with working with blooms and her creativity transferred to her new career effortlessly. She is now Simply Stems’ head florist and their go-to person for all things wedding. Her meticulous attention to detail, calm disposition and her experience in her field, makes her one of the best florists in the Goulburn Valley.

(40)

Whilst working with the brides and grooms to realise their wedding flower dreams is undoubtedly her favourite part of the job, Amy also loves the chance to meet, and work with, other creative people like hairdressers, cake decorators and stylists. She attributes them to keeping her continually inspired. When she isn’t surrounded by flowers, Amy loves to paint. It’s her outlet and her calm. Although we haven’t seen any of her works, we’re pretty sure she’s amazing at it. She just one of those talented people. She’s also incredibly nice too. If you’re lucky enough to meet her, you’ll probably want to be her friend. We certainly do!

ANTHONY - AJR FILMS A mad Arsenal fan (thats a soccer team ladies) and a passion for film making don’t really go hand in hand unless your speaking to Anthony of AJR Films. His love for Soccer tends to mess up his sleeping patterns but that means he can kick goals (get it?) by getting lots of editing done late at night - a match made in heaven (oops, there’s another one!). His passion for documentary style film stemmed from his final year at University where he directed a short documentary and found his love of the process of communicating a real life event to an audience in a way that, trust us… will give you Goosebumps!

“I look at each wedding film as a minidocumentary. I like to be as unobtrusive as possible on the wedding day and be well positioned to document what naturally unfolds. It’s important to me that couples are able to re-live the special moments as they were.” he says. Anthony says working in a happy environment, the diversity each wedding brings, the creative freedom and being able to direct an idea and carry it from pre-production to post-production are his favourite parts of the industry. And, apart from his sport, he says he also likes spending time with his lovely wife and never throught he’d enjoy furniture shopping as much as he does now.

REBECCA + GRETCHEN - HEN’S TEETH TRADING These ladies ooze charm, and their styling skills… are ON POINT! Gretchen and Rebecca are the lovely ladies behind Hen’s Teeth Trading – a beautiful styling and hire service located in Tocumwal just on the cusp of the Goulburn Valley. With a stong habbit of collecting nice things and an even stronger passion for re-arranging – the girls were born to style! Drawing inspiration from nature and the asthetics of the chosen space is what drives and inspires the Hen’s Teeth look. “We don’t have a favourite style. We love any style that celebrates nature and we find each event has its own aesthetic. We find

(56)

ourselves adapting to our clients style but the end result always seems to have a sense of a Hens Teeth Trading stamp.” Being relatively new to the wedding scene in the Goulburn Valley, Gretchen and Rebecca are excited by the rich history in some of the reigions venues and locations, always discovering and celebrating new things! Both have busy home lives with families themselves and aside from the hustle of running their own business, they try to have balance. Gretchen jokes that she wreaks havoc with her sons lego collection, destroying and remaking for her own pleasure while Rebecca enjoys being in the garden and spending time with the home menagerie.

LOUISA - LOUISA’s CAKE BOUTIQUE Dessert darling and cake queen Louisa - or Louisa’s Cake Boutique is wowing us with her hand crafted goodness in the form of cakes and more intriguingly, beautifully architected and crafted bitesized sweets which you can check out at her Bridal Co listing. After becoming a chef and working locally for some of the valleys leading dining destinations, Louisa realised her passion was for creating the perfect dessert. Going on to study Patisserie and spending her spare time baking cakes for family & friends, Louisa took the plunge and decided to open her very own cake boutique!

Louisa is particularly passionate about creating varieties of sweet treats for the perfect bridal shower or hand crafting the perfect cake to help each of her couple’s dreams come together. She loves more than anything watching her clients faces light up when they see their delicious delights for the first time. “The people you meet and the excitement on their faces when they first lay eyes on their wedding cake really is the cherry ontop of everything I do” she says. Inspired by her passion for creating delicate delights, Louisa opened her cake boutique early 2016 and has built up a following of clients that love to challenge her talents and who love seeing what she comes up with next.

HAVE A DRINK WITH US... A GUiDE TO BOOZE SUPPLY With the trend in backyard functions and particularly weddings increasing, we wanted to offer a little help and advice from our friends at Hops & Harvest. Buying and catering for your guests can be a daunting task and one that you shouldnt tackle without some planning! Hops & Harvest Vintage Caravan Bar has put together some handy tips & tricks for supplying the drinks for your wedding. 1. Limit your options to guests, the more variety you have the harder it is to keep up the demand of any one product. Once your friends start drinking a particular kind of drink, it is harder to tell them it is no longer available. 2. You can’t always predict the nights events and you can very rarely predict what will be popular! Sometimes when you are SURE you know what will be the favourite of the night, it can turn out very different!

(74)

3. We suggest 2-3 beers (keeping a light beer option in mind), 2 White Wines, 2 Reds and 1 other, perhaps a cider or pre-mixed spirit. 4. Cocktails are a great idea but keep in mind they are more time consuming, ask for advice on quick and simple cocktails to help keep service smooth 5. On working it all out... Divide your guests into drinking categories. Males, Females, Heavy Drinkers, Light Drinkers etc and estimate to your best ability the types and amount of drinks they will consume. 6. Quite a few suppliers will let you return unopened and undamaged cartons so be sure to check this out when shopping for the drinks. 7. Relax! Having Hops & Harvest at your event means not only will you have an epic night, we will also keep an eye on your stocks and let you know when it’s low!

DING DONG... Wedding bells are an important symbol of a wedding. Traditionally, it was believed that demons were scared off by loud sounds, so following a wedding ceremony, anything that could make noise was used to create a diversion.
