Solutions 4 U specializes in all the legal aspects that surround property purchase and sale.

Buy With Confidence From experience we can say that many properties that are for sale have some irregularities in their paperwork, however it is our speciality to eradicate them. Whether you are selling or buying you want to do so with a sense of complete confidence. Working with an impartial Lawyer we are therefore currently updating the Title documents to a good amount of properties, so that when you buy with us you know that the property is registered correctly. We can also advise on Planning Issues which can save endless difficulties later on.

Have Peace of Mind For those who already own a property and may have concerns, we offer a FREE consultation whereby you can bring along a copy of your Title Deed and IBI (Rates) certificate and we will establish whether all your property is registered correctly. If inconsistencies are found we will explain fully what needs to be done, give you a time scale and a written estimate of the cost. Once completed you’ll see where the corrections have been made, thereafter happy that all your property is fully registered. Non-Residents tax declarations must be completed by the end of December - we offer very good rates.

Editors Note..... Christmas is just round the corner and I love it! This year we will be spending it as a family in Spain. In order to totally break with tradition we will also be having Christmas lunch with a few friends at one of our favourite restaurants. This will be very different from the 10 to 12 family members round a large table at my mother inlaw's in the UK! It is not only Christmas day I love, but the whole build up, the carol services, buying presents, and putting up and decorating the tree with the children. So, this month we have provided you with a Christmas feature to help with all your festive preparations. Ideas where to eat, where to buy your turkey crowns, cards and crackers, where to buy that special gift and any special discount or vouchers that are on offer this month. Please turn to pages 56 to 61.

olice in Bolivia have detained a woman who hid inside an all-male prison to avoid being arrested. Prosecutors accuse her of leading a gang of fraudsters. They say a gang member, who had already been arrested, called the woman to warn her police were looking for her. She visited him in jail and hid for four days, but was detained by prison staff as she was trying to leave the penitentiary in La Paz. The suspect has now been sent to a female prison. The woman is one of 15 alleged gang members to be detained on suspicion of fraud . The gang is accused of using fake documents to try to withdraw large sums of money from bank accounts in Bolivia.

rofessional card player Pius Heinz of Germany goes home $8.72m (ÂŁ5.4m) richer after winning the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The 22year-old from Cologne won the final hand against Czech player Martin Staszko with an ace high. The $10,000 buy-in nolimit Texas hold 'em series started in July with a field of nearly 7,000 players. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the money," Heinz said. "Probably my family is going to get a few gifts." Staszko will not go home empty-handed. His second-place showing won him $5.4m while third-placed Ben Lamb, from the US, took $4.0m. Once Lamb was knocked out Staszko and Heinz battled it out over another 119 hands, exchanging the lead nine times. "I tried not to lose my nerve," Heinz said. "At some point I was not making a hand. I was getting frustrated, honestly. I just tried to play my game." Heinz said he was glad he continued with poker after considering returning to university earlier in the year.

he British consulate offers welcome assistance to travellers who are in trouble abroad, but the Foreign Office is warning there are some things it just cannot help with. In the last six months staff have been asked for a telephone number for Phil Collins and Prince Charles's shoe size. Another request was from a man stranded at the airport by his dominatrix. The Foreign Office says it is important people understand their priority is to help those in real difficulty. Other bizarre appeals for help made to its network of embassies, high commissions and consulates around the world, include one from a man who rang the consulate in Sydney to ask what clothes he should pack for his holiday. In another a Briton in Sofia, Bulgaria, wanted the consulate to sell his house for him. The caller - to Foreign Office staff in Spain - who wanted Prince Charles' shoe size, wanted the information so he could send him shoes as a present Other odd requests made to consular staff include: l A man called the consulate in Florida to report that there were ants in his holiday villa and asked for advice on what he should do l A lady complained to the embassy in Moscow about a loud buzzing noise in her apartment l A man asked a consulate in Greece for information on how to go about putting a chicken coop in his garden l A man asked consular staff in Dubai to meet his dog on arrival at customs and help it through the customs process l A caller asked staff in Malaga in midSeptember where she could get a Christmas lunch as everywhere was already booked up l Staff in Greece were asked for tips on the best fishing spots and where to purchase good bait.

Campo Cuttings by Lorraine Cavanagh. Spice up your Christmas!

t's that time of year when even avid fast-food lovers may dig out granny's recipes and delve into the spice world to concoct wonderfully aromatic puddings, cakes and biscuits. It's a delight to be in the kitchen, warmed by the oven and the comforting aroma of baking. Most of these spices are semi-tropical or tropical plants so a little difficult for us to grow in our gardens but that shouldn't stop us from being knowledgeable about them. Cinnamon, cinnamomum zeylanicum. This is, probably, one of the oldest spices known to man. It is a beautiful, small, evergreen tree,10m tall, with deep red new foliage, white flowers, purple fruits and golden-red bark from which the cinnamon is harvested. Hardy to around freezing, it may survive short frosts but needs protection from prolonged cold. It likes warmth and humidity to flourish. A Sri Lankan native, it has been planted in China and Africa for centuries. There was once a cinnamon route stretching from the Spice Islands to East Africa and through to ancient Rome. Nowadays, it is widely cultivated. Young trees must be grown for two years, then they are cut down. The young shoots which develop are grown on for a year then stripped of their young inner bark. This, dried, forms the cinnamon quills we know. These tightly-rolled quills are delicate but can be stored for many years under the right

34 The Grapevine

conditions, whereas ground cinnamon will lose its flavour rapidly. It's used to flavour all sorts of sweet dishes, particularly with apple, pears and peaches, sprinkled on coffee or cocoa, to warm chicken and lamb dishes and to add depth to pickles and chutneys. A great digestive spice, it is also antiseptic and lowers blood pressure. Clove, syzygium aromatricum. Cloves are the dried, unopened flower buds of the tree said to resemble nail heads, clavus in Latin. Native to the Spice Islands, the trees are also grown in India, Sumatra, West Indies, Jamaica and Brazil. A pyramidal, evergreen tree to 10m high, the entire tree is aromatic with smooth grey bark and white bell-shaped flowers. They need good drainage but with a warm, humid climate and are happiest in partial shade. The seeds will germinate readily if planted in a soil/compost mix inside a plastic bag. Young seedlings are planted out when 18 months old and are often inter-planted with mangoes or bananas to give the young trees the dappled shade they like. Flowering begins at around 5 years old. Harvested flower buds are sun dried, turning very dark brown. They will lose two-thirds of their weight and a mature tree will produce around 3 kg, dried weight. Whole and ground forms will store for many years. Clove oil is well respected for its antiseptic qualities, especially in toothpastes, mouthwashes and to relieve

toothache. They are also used as an aid to digestion, to combat nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In Indonesia, where cloves grow freely, they are ground and mixed with tobacco to form the popular Kretek cigarettes. Commonly used in baking and liqueurs, they also make delightfully scented pomander balls. And, if the spirit of Christmas is all becoming too much for you, chewing on a couple of cloves will, reportedly, curb your craving for alcohol. I haven't tried it! Ginger, zingiber officinale. Ginger is probably the best remedy for nausea and sickness, including car sickness. It used to be eaten, wrapped in bread, after a large meal to ward off indigestion and, thus, the debut of gingerbread. Thanks to children's tales, Christmas just isn't complete without ginger – gingerbread houses, cookies and candied. Ginger beer (the forerunner of ginger ale) was also very popular. Medicinally ginger helps everything from colic, diarrhoea, colds, flu, digestive problems, arthritis, lowering cholesterol, lowering blood pressure and to help prevent cancer and heart disease. It is one of the most used culinary spices, particularly in Asian where it is a native of monsoon forests. It is a perennial herb that will grow to 1m tall with thin strap-like leaves and green flowers. It thrives on fertile soils with light shade and in a frost-free climate. Plant your chunk of rhizome (with 2 or 3 buds) and 15cm between plants. Commercially 1500 kg of rhizomes are planted per hectare and this will yield 25 tonnes of fresh ginger. Harvesting takes place about 8 months after planting when the leaves begin to yellow. Very young rhizomes make stem ginger, whilst the older rhizomes are dried. The young spicy shoots are also used in stir fries. Mace, myristica fragrans. Mace is the filigreed red covering of the nutmeg seed; it has a more delicate flavour. Once the mace has been peeled from the seed, its gorgeous colour fades to a light brown. It is often used in mulled drinks, doughnuts, stuffing and even hot dogs and meatballs. Nutmeg, myristica fragrans. This pungent, warm and aromatic seed is used in a wide range of dishes from sweet and savoury dishes. It has a long mystical history too, often associated with romance and enticement! Another native of the Spice Islands, it is now widely cultivated in South Africa, India and the West Indies. The tree grows to around 20m with dark green long leaves, and pale yellow bell-shaped flowers, usually single sexed. One male tree can pollinate ten female trees. The

apricot-like fruit splits when ripe to reveal the nutmeg cased in mace. The fresh fruits are used locally to make pickles and chutneys. Requiring similar conditions as cloves, the trees will come into production at around 7 years and they will produce good crops until the ripe old age of 80 to 100 years old. Christmas Eve never used to be complete without a warming glass of eggnog topped with a grating of nutmeg! Vanilla, vanilla planifolia or vanilla fragrans. Vanilla is a tropical orchid – the only orchid that bears an edible crop. There are around 150 varieties of vanillas though only two are used commercially; Bourbon (vanilla planifolia) and Tahitian (vanilla fragrans). They grow within a 20degree band of the Equator and are native to the Americas. It is one of the world's most labourintensive agricultural crops. The vines take 3 years to flower and the pods, resembling large green beans, need to mature on the vine for 9 months. When harvested they have neither fragrance nor flavour – these develop during the curing process. The pods are treated with hot water then left to dry in the sun, often for months, until they have shrunk to 20% of their original size. After grading and resting for a further 2 months they develop their wonderful properties. The Spanish conquistadores first brought the scented pods into Europe where the French, in particular, loved their exotic flavour. Cuttings were planted in Madagascar but the vines failed to produce fruit until it was realised that the little mellipone bee - endemic to Central and South America – is the only natural pollinator. To this day, vanilla flowers in Madagascar are pollinated manually and, as each flower only lasts a day, timing is of the essence! Today the island is the world's largest producer of vanilla pods. All of us at Viveros Florena wish you a wonderfully spicy Christmastime! David Graves

avid is a fantastic artist. Walking round his home in Cómpeta, every room is a different colour , every wall is covered with David’s paintings, and his sculptures are also on display. The most interesting thing about his work is its great variety. He has many styles, both figurative and abstract. He paints or sculpts whatever appeals to him at the time, a gondolier, flamenco dancer, the village of Cómpeta or an abstract firework display. They are exceptionally good, detailed, strong and vibrant. David always wanted to be an artist. Educated at Reigate Grammar School he failed O-level art twice but went on to get a distinction in A-level Art independently. He was actively discouraged from becoming an Artist by family and teachers. The family wanted David to step into the family car sales, coach hire and travel agency business but this didn’t inspire him in the slightest He started studying interior design at Kingston University but this turned out to be mainly architecture based so he quickly changed to Fashion and Textiles, obtaining a BA Hons. degree in 1967. David left University and went straight into Fashion Design working for, amongst others, Bally Shoes in London and in the Midlands designing for The House of Lerose and the giant American company Brittania Sportswear where he designed ranges sold under the names of Mary Quant, Gloria Vanderbilt and Pierre Cardin. Much of David’s work was also sold in M&S and many other well-known outlets. Ideally he would have preferred a career in Fine Art but understood that realistically this might not have been financially viable. In actual fact, he found he was very good at the commercial aspect of fashion and design, which in itself led to immense enjoyment and satisfaction. In the early days David also designed the interiors for Bally’s shoe shops in London. He used this talent in refurbishing and greatly increasing the value of the homes he and his

The Grapevine 42

partner Séamus have owned over the past 42 years in Birmingham, Henley-in-Arden, Leamington Spa, London, Bidford on Avon, Cómpeta and Brighton. Eventually tiring of working hard for other people David decided to set up his own retail fashion shop in Leamington Spa selling women’s clothes and couture items designed and made by himself. In his basement studio David started to hand paint silk fabrics, selling the results as fabulous evening and wedding dresses. At this time he started painting large-scale pictures on silk, which he started to exhibit. As a result of this he received two large commissions for about sixty paintings for interior decoration in hotels in Stratford on Avon and Bath. As a result of this David realised he wanted to take up painting seriously, and using acrylics and oils, he embarked on a new career as a fine artist. David and Seamus now live part of the year in Cómpeta, and part of the year in Brighton in the UK. In both places David exhibits his work, notably in the Brighton festival and the CómpetaArt walkabout. David and Seamus both joined the Cómpeta Art Group and have been with the group right from its early stages. They explained it was a great way to meet people of all nationalities with a common interest in arts and crafts. They have been able to get involved with the village as a whole through the group exhibitions, and walkabouts, which they have felt has been beneficial both for them and the community. You can see more of David’s work on or his own personal website

Leading off the living/dining room, the kitchen is a good size and features fitted cupboards, granite work surfaces, washing machine, oven and fridge/freezer. From the living room, a door leads to an enclosed patio, featuring a large, enclosed storage space. A single bedroom (which could also be used as an office) with an en-suite bathroom is accessed from the patio. The first floor features two double bedrooms, one of which has a Juliette balcony overlooking the river, and an additional single bedroom. The bathroom has recently been renovated in a spa-style, featuring modern Roca fixtures and fittings and quality tiling throughout. A further flight of stairs leads to the delightful roof terrace, which features a large built-in BBQ and a seating area, covered with a sail shade, offering year-round outdoor living. The property is fitted with an alarm system and has both landline telephone and internet connections. The property would make either an excellent permanent base or holiday home, with excellent rental potential.

Shop later, shops are often quieter in the evenings & there is always the opportunity to pop into a bar for a festive tipple. ? Shop local, smaller independent shops create that Christmassy atmosphere that make the experience fun rather than a chore. ? Risk your street credibility & borrow your granny's tartan shopping trolley. ? Make a list! Or you will find yourself on Christmas Eve at the petrol station buying bedraggled flowers & a screen wash. ? If your partner criticises you, throw yourself to the floor, spread eagled, kick your feet & scream 'that's it, next year you do the shopping!'

Do you want to work from home? Retail Eyes is recruiting self-employed proof readers and mystery shopping researchers. SELF-EMPLOYED PROOF READERS Working from home, proof readers will be selfemployed and have very high standard of Spanish and English language comprehension skills. Previous experience of proof reading is preferred rather than essential, but excellent spelling and grammar skills are critical. Those appointed will need internet access, but will be able to choose hours of work to suit their own lifestyle. Work is available 24 hours a day. Retail Eyes is the world’s leading customer intelligence company that provides its clients with insights and feedback from their customers. This research helps these organisations make real improvements to the service they offer customers. Mystery shopper experiences go to clients in high quality reports and it’s vital that these are accurate, contain no mis-spellings or contradictions, grammatical errors or offensive commentary. This ensures that Retail Eyes clients can be confident that reports have been researched, written and proof-read by a dedicated team. Retail Eyes pays for each report read and the fee varies according the length of the questionnaire that shoppers submit. As a result, readers can choose the hours they work and therefore the amount they can earn. It should be noted that any specific quantities of work cannot be guaranteed and as self-employed, readers are responsible for declaring their income to the Inspector of Taxes and paying their own income tax and National Insurance. Anyone interested should email in the first instance, detailing why this opportunity appeals, why they consider themselves suitable and include a CV. Suitable candidates will be invited to Retail Eyes’ offices in Milton Keynes to learn more about the company and its values. It will allow the company to get to know candidates and to ensure that its standards are met by way of some short tests. Subsequent training sessions take place in the Milton Keynes offices.

Christmas Lists by Rose Jones

s it just me or does the question “What do you want for Christmas?” get harder as you get older? It isn't that we have become so very wealthy that we can already cater to our every last whim: we are, as usual, skint. Nor are we so very unmaterialistic that we don't wish we were so very wealthy we could cater to our every last whim. But the Christmas list is a puzzle. It's partly that the things we want are either way beyond what's possible (such as freedom from credit card debts, ha ha) or too dull to ask for (like fixing the patio wall). For some reason, my other half does not approve of the idea of giving me a working iron. I think he expects me to slyly go on Facebook and slag him for sexism. But it also doesn't help that some of the things I want the most are counter productive: more time and less clutter. I used to get ornaments, but nowadays, though I love to look at ornaments in the shops, in my house I love empty space more: easier to clean and no breakages. I used to love candles but now I've got young children so they're now transformed to fire-risks. Films I prefer to rent; music I listen to on-line; books I borrow. It's the same with hobbies. My hobbies are walking, photography, learning Spanish and writing. Unfortunately I've been doing these for some years. For walking I have my kagool, my boots and my stick already. Maps and walking books are good but there are only so many per mountain range. As for photography, all I need is

my lovely digital camera (actually, yes, it was a Christmas present) and a set of batteries. And while in our first rush of enthusiasm we bought, borrowed or stole a whole library of books, from SPANISH MADE EASY to Cuentos en Español I've read most of them. Nowadays I prefer to download free podcasts from anyway: I can listen to them while I'm walking; two hobbies in one. But no Christmas present. It's harder to buy for other people, too. Once the flamenco-dress, fan, castanets and straw-donkey have gone (the first Christmas) you realise that the Booze Back-up is out: residents know how cheap it is and you can't pop a Cava Reserva in the post. There are some lovely one-off things to hunt down: paintings, handmade jewellery, framed photos (so many wonderful views – so little wall space). There are nice clothes too, though I'll never understand why the shops in the land of the tiny, dumpy, big-bottomed Spanish women are exclusively stocked for tall, longlimbed, hipless gazelles. Maybe all the clothes for short-dumpy females have been snapped up

before I get there. Still, there are always fubsy socks and pretty scarves if you're desperate. And all that pretty personal junk is so tempting on the purse.

from “Whatever” to an astonishingly expensive set of initials (X-box, say, or i-pad) with a list of technical details as long as an electronics manual. Or they ask you for something as boring as an iron. My friend was appalled to be asked by her husband for a scaffolding ladder for Christmas. What's on earth is a scaffolding ladder? How would you wrap it up? I don't know what it is or where you'd get one but I might ask her husband if he can fix our patio wall. And this is further proof that shopping for men is pants, and quite often results in them.

That's an advantage in shopping for women: just because my bathroom cupboard is full of makeups, perfumes, cleansers, unguents, shampoos, moisturisers, masks, muds and suds doesn't mean I can't fit a few more in. Like ornaments and candles and vases and jewellery…it should be almost as easy to buy for women as for little kids (anything whizzy and plastic will do…for kids that is, not women). Unfortunately, I have males to buy So imagine us at the shopping centre. Like many for. couples we no longer put ourselves through the torture of shopping together but meet up for a To be fair I remember (just) a time when buying coffee after an hour or so. Here he comes, empty for my other half was romantic. That is limited by handed and looking slightly worried. And here I a joint bank account. “Wow, that's cool!” turns into am, struggling with five bags and looking slightly “Er…can we afford it?” which is a bit of a downer skint. Well, what do you expect? I'm not going to on Christmas day. So now the dreaded wish list stop shopping just because I don't want anything not only has to be asked for but vetted. right now! I can vent my desire for knick-knacks, ornaments, candles and other Christmas goodies Is it only my male relatives or is the entire gender on the people who haven't provided me with their impossible to get a sensible answer to the Christmas list! A group of girlfriends are on vacation when they see a 5-story hotel with a sign that reads: "For Women Only". Since they are without their boyfriends and husbands, they decide to go in. The Bouncer, a very attractive guy, explains to them how it works. "We have 5 floors. Go up floor by floor, and once you find what you are looking for, you can stay there. It's easy to decide since each floor has a sign telling you what's inside." So they start going up and on the first floor the sign reads: "All the men here have it short and thin." The friends laugh and without hesitation move on to the next floor. The sign on the second floor reads: "All the men here have it long and thin." Still, this isn't good enough so the friends continue on up. They reach the third floor and the sign reads: "All the men here have it short and thick." They still want to do better, and so, knowing there are still two floors left, they continued on up. On the fourth floor, the sign is perfect: "All the men here have it long and thick." The women get all excited and are going in when they realize that there is still one floor left. Wondering what they are missing, they head on up to the fifth floor. There they find a sign that reads: "There are no men here. This floor was built only to prove that there is no way to please a woman."

Jan, Sue and Mary haven't seen each other since leaving School. They rediscover each other via a reunion website and arrange to meet for lunch in a wine bar.

One man turned to the other and said, “This book’s a real pageturner.” The other said, “Yeah, I know how books work…”

Jan arrives first, wearing beige Versace dress. She orders a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Sue arrives shortly afterward, wearing a grey Chanel number. After the initial hugs and kisses she joins Jan in a glass of wine. Then Mary walks in, wearing a faded old teeshirt, blue jeans and boots. She too shares the wine. Jan explains that after leaving school and attending Oxford University , she met and married Timothy, with whom she has a beautiful daughter. Timothy is a partner in one of London ’s leading law firms. They live in a 4000 sq ft apartment on Park Lane , where Susanna, the daughter, attends drama school. They have a second home in Portugal . Sue relates that she graduated from Cambridge University , studied to become a doctor and became a surgeon. Her husband, Clive, is a leading financial investment banker in the City. They live in the Surrey stockbroker belt and have a second home in Italy . Mary explains that after she left school at 17, she ran off with her boyfriend, Mark. They run a tropical bird park in Essex and grow their own vegetables. Mark can stand five parrots, side by side, on his erect penis. Halfway down the third bottle of wine and several hours later, Jan blurts out that her husband is really a cashier at Tesco’s. They live in a small apartment in Bromley and have a caravan parked on the front drive. Sue, chastened and encouraged by her old friend's honesty, explains that she and Clive are both nursing care assistants in an old peoples home. They live in Peckham and take camping holidays in Kent . >

Mary admits that the fifth parrot has to stand on one leg.

Dave Dawson - Canillas de Albaida

STUMPY I had an awful day in my new job yesterday on the farm. Threshing machine tore both legs off. Early days though, I’ll find my feet soon.

WILD ANIMAL On holiday in Thailand I went for a round of golf with the wife. On the first tee I pulled out the driver and gave it a couple of practice swings. The locals by the pro shop must’ve caught a glimpse and by the time I’d teed the ball up a small crowd had gathered. As I lined up the shot they shouted a few words of encouragement. A couple of waggles, one last look down the fairway and smack! 340 yards, straight down the middle. The locals went crazy, jumping up and down, cheering and I was soaking it up. I could hear them chanting “Tiger Woods! Tiger Woods! Tiger Woods!” and yeah, I was milking it. Pumping the air, blowing kisses, the works. If instead I’d turned around and looked in the woods I probably would’ve seen the tiger mauling my wife.

DISNEY CLASSIC Rick Astley asked me if he could borrow my Pixar films. “Okay,” I said, “you can have Toy Story, Cars and Finding Nemo, but I’m never gonna give you Up.”

THE LIBRARY A lady in a library wants a book on euphemisms. So the librarian took her up the rear aisle and let her have it

THE WIFE Last night my wife let me go on top. I love bunk beds!.

More than 100 supporters packed into La Plata Casa Matilde in Benejarafe for an evening of musical greats , dinner, and dancing. The evening raised just over 1,000 euros and will be used to put the finishing touches to new roofs and flooring at the refuge which is home to more than 60 dogs. Started 12 years ago by Dolores Nevin (Lola) and her partner Jose, APARIV is unique in that every animal that finds its way to the refuge is guaranteed a safe haven for life. MALAGA, THE PROVINCE WITH THE MOST ITV TEST DODGERS IN ANDALUCÍA In 2010 a total of 476,294 vehicles registered in the province of Malaga were due to take their ITV test. However only 352,223 actually made it to a test centre: 74 per cent. The remaining 26 per cent makes Malaga the Andalusian province with the most cars on the roads that haven’t passed the motor vehicle test, according to statistics from the ITV organisation that forms part of the regional_Economy, Innovation and Science Department. The ITV test is obligatory, either annually or every two years, for vehicles

over a certain age in order to ensure that the cars, lorries and motorcycles are roadworthy and therefore do not pose a risk to road safety. UNEMPLOYMENT No words can properly describe the magnitude of the unemployment problem in Malaga province. It has been referred to in such terms as dramatic, devastating, galloping and terrible and, not infrequently, insupportable. One third of the active population of Malaga is now registered as unemployed, according to figures released last week by the Survey of the Active Population (EPA). To be exact, the figure at the end of March was 32.73 per cent, compared with 30.65 per cent three months earlier. This means that at the end of the first quarter of this year 258,600 people in Malaga almost 20 per cent of the total population over the age of 16 had no work, while 531,500 were lucky enough to have kept their jobs.

FOREIGN BUYERS THROW A LIFELINE TO THE COSTA DEL SOL’S REAL ESTATE MARKET Developers and estate agents are now optimistically clinging to a lifeline that has come from abroad. The storm of the financial crisis has relented for the British, Germans, Scandinavians or Russians who are once again showing an interest in the Costa del Sol,, attracted by reductions in the asking prices of properties.

The Boatyard Bar - PlayaPlayazo - Nerja Tel. 659 778 105 Accoustic Roots CARITAS is a faith based charitable organisation aimed at helping alleviate poverty and exclusion for the poorest people in communities. It is a global movement, based on humanitarian values. It has an active branch covering our local villages, where many have been badly hit by recession and unemployment. Although run by the Catholic Diocese CARITAS supports people of all faiths and those with no religious allegiance, they simply attempt to help those in need, based only on need. CAMPO will be giving some funds from our Xmas shows to support the poorest families and individuals over the festive season, making sure practical help is given to local people. CARITAS is supported well by our Mayor, who is well aware of needs within our community. We will post updates on the use of funds on the CAMPO website, so do come and enjoy our Christmas Cracker, knowing that much needed support from your generosity will flow into our community. Ray Rowden, on behalf of CAMPO.
