Hi, I’m Melissa (or Liss), the owner of The Grace Place and designer of all things creative!

get in touch!

I started working in IT in 2000, programming web-based applications and building websites. Since then I’ve found my way into graphic design, doing print work as well as developing and designing digital content for the online world. I love the creative buzz that comes with new projects, understanding the heart of a brand or event and how to communicate that using fantastic design. I love the excitement of being able to deliver just what a client was hoping for, but often unable to articulate. 0409 000 782 PO Box 3019, Warner Q 4500 I have experience in business branding; print design, from business cards to banners on buildings; web design and development in Wordpress, with as much or as little customisation as needed as well as content development and page management for Facebook business pages. I’m also mum to six amazing little people, so do most of my work from my home office, often during the crazy hours when others are sleeping! Consequently, I’m always keen to scope out a new fantastic coffee shop for project meetings and planning! I would love to hear from you if you have a project you think we could work on together!

City Women Brisbane I was asked to coordinate the launch of City Women Brisbane in 2013. As an offshoot of the ministry running in Toowoomba, City Women Brisbane is all about making our city a better place for women and girls. We created branding using the same logo element as Toowoomba to maintain our connection to the, but with our own “Brisbane style. City Women Brisbane held a launch event that I organised in September 2013, and has since been connecting women online to help facilitate networks across Brisbane that can work together to make a difference.

IGA Lord Mayor’s Carols in the City 2013 The brief for the IGA Lord Mayor’s Carols in the City for 2013 was to use their existing logo to create a fresh, clean look that clearly represented Christmas, without being cliche or neglecting the true meaning of Christmas. The suite of designs done for Carols included a 44-page A4 souvenir program, lanyards, print ads, various banners and sponsorship proposals, a redesign of their social media space. A separate, but connected look was also created to represent the David Jones Christmas Star Competition that preceded the Carols.

State Youth Games Qld 2014-2016 The brief for the State Youth Games Qld redesign involved creating a funky, fresh and modern look that would appeal to young people (15-30) and remain usable for at the next three years with little change. The brand required a full range of banners and posters as well as templates to be used by the event coordinators for onsite signage and last minute changes. The redesign also included a redesign of the SYG Qld website and social media space.
