WE’RE MOVING MOUNTAINS.
and we want to invite you to join us.
We got married in August 2013 knowing that God was calling us to church plant. As we sought God about our next step, we consistently felt like Jesus was asking us to lay down our own dreams and build someone else’s; specifically serving a church plant for at least 3 years. In December of 2013, we heard from the staff of Antioch SLC about their heart for Salt Lake City, and why they loved and longed for the people there so much. Something in us stirred. We both immediately looked at each other, smiled, and said, “Why not?” Over the next few months, that “Why not?” became a “Why on earth would we not?” As we prayed, and joined the launch team, Salt Lake City went from being an intimidating city, to a city of promise and hope. By the time we first visited in Feb 2015, we had been believing and praying for the people of this city for so long, that Chris actually wept as we broke through the clouds and saw the valley. God was already moving, and was inviting us to witness a city and a state become completely transformed. As we prepared to move, we felt Jesus call us to love the greatest risk of people; college students. Beneath their ultra tight pants, Sorel boots, and flannels were thousands of students desperately wondering, “Who am I?” Before we even met them, we knew these students would be our family. So, in June of 2015, we jumped into unknown adventures. That fall, we helped launch Antioch SLC. Quickly our single “launch team” life group became a thriving church of hundreds. SLC was in the midst of (re)vival, and we had front row seats. The more we saw, the more our dreams and longings to see college students come alive began to re-awake in Chris. The staff sensed this, and on December 5th of 2017 (exactly 3 years to the date we started praying about going to SLC!) they asked Chris to become the College Pastor starting in January. We’re so excited because we see, know, and love the very faces of this city that will lead the (re)vival. They are the ones at our house 24/7, who love Spikeball, Justin Bieber, and McDonalds 2 for $2s. There is an unprecedented movement of God happening here, and college students are at the forefront!

What Is Antioch? Antioch Ministries International (AMI) is a non-profit church-planting organization that launches and supports church-planting movement all over the world. In the past 30 years, AMI has planted churches all over the U.S. and around the world, and today hundreds of thousands of people have come to know Jesus. AMI’s passion is to see the Church advance the Kingdom of God around the world. When teams are sent into the field, they operate as independent churches with a board of directors. The vision though, doesn’t stop with the church plants AMI sends out. The dream of AMI is for each of its church pants to become a church planting movement that influences thousands of people through power and work of the Holy Spirit. Our teams are dedicated to reaching and loving their cities, and empowering and equipping its people to do the same. As these movements grow, we believe the number of unengaged and unreached people groups will decrease.
Why Salt Lake City? The bottom line for why we chose Salt Lake City is this: there’s a need, and we felt invited by God to join Him in what He is doing here. Only 2.2 percent of Salt Lake City’s population is affiliated with an evangelical church, and there is one evangelical church for every 10,000 people in Salt Lake City. Founded by the Mormon church, the state of Utah as a whole has been known traditionally as “the Mormon state.” Salt Lake City, however, is now less than 50% Mormon for the first time ever. What does this mean for us? Quite literally, the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. When we flew into Salt Lake in the spring of 2015, we felt like we were entering a city that longed to know Jesus, but just couldn’t see him yet through the clouds in their own life. We walked away from that trip feeling an invitation and challenge from God. It was clear that He was on the move in Salt Lake City, and that revival would come whether we showed up to be a part of it or not. Were we brought into His kingdom for such a time and city as this?

Why are we raising support? Simply put, college students thrive off of availability and spontaneity. In order to get into their lives it requires balancing a practical adminstrative role with relationships. It’s planning events, LifeGroups, character trainings, and outreach partnership coordination, as well as hangouts, discipleship meetings, and one on ones. Even as I type this in the middle of the afternoon and simultaneously am planing our Spring Break Outreach, two college students are sitting in my living room playing Xbox and talking about life (they invited themselves… and I love it). If we truly believe there is an unprecedented movement of God happening here in SLC and that college students are at the forefront, then I want to give them my full attention. If I am asking them to give everything they have to follow Jesus, I might as well follow my own words. We are building something that has never been done before, a culture that hasn’t been created. Antioch SLC has only been around for 14 months and we have already seen God moving quicker and more abundantly than we ever could have dreamed (and we dream BIG). Though we are growing quickly, we are still a young church, and as such, are still on support. Jesus was on support (Luke 8:1-3) for parts of his ministry, but he didn’t spend his entire life on support. While we are entering a season of support, we see it only as a season, not a lifestyle. As our church continues to thrive, we’re hoping to be selfsupported within only 2 years. Our hearts are for the city and know our college students will be driving the change. If we want to see our dreams come to fruition, we need you on our team.

How We’re Praying Our Marriage: - Protection as we enter the spiritual war of church planting. - Grace to out honor, out serve, and out love each other. Our Ministry: - Continued softening of the soil of The University of Utah for the gospel. - People to meet and know Jesus and a discipleship movement started. - Students to know, own, rise up, and lead out in the giftings and passions Jesus gave them - Isaiah 35:5-7 “Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth from the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs.”
THANKS FOR BEING IN OUR SQUAD! Because of you, Gerac-sic Park rolls deep. Cheers, Chris & Jules
