DANCE INSTRUCTION • The Fine Arts Association’s dance program allows students to enter at any level and/or style appropriate to both ability and age. Students new to Fine Arts with previous study in dance will be scheduled for a placement assessment by appointment with a dance faculty member. Students are evaluated annually to continue proper placement in a challenging class setting. Please note: Ages are approximate guidelines. Students are placed based on experience and current ability. • Young dancers are offered creative movement and ballet/tap combination classes which provide a foundation of dance terminology and movements. Using familiar locomotor and non locomotor steps, students develop increased coordination and spatial awareness. • Students studying in the upper levels will develop technical proficiency, style, and performance qualities as they are challenged by advanced vocabulary and complex combinations. Dance Companies • Edge, Verge, and Emerge are auditioned FAA Dance Companies that practice year-round, enabling selected FAA students to perform in various locations throughout the region. Private Dance Lessons: • Refine your technique with individual attention. Classes are tailored to further develop skills based on individual goals. Contact Customer Service at (440) 951-7500 for further information.

PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION Recital opportunities • The Fine Arts Association provides regular opportunities for music students to perform in recitals. General recitals are free, and the community is welcome! If you are a music student interested in participating in a general recital, please communicate with your Fine Arts instructor. Suzuki Instruction • Dr. Shinichi Suzuki began to teach music by applying the basic principles of learning language. When learning a language, one listens, speaks, reads and writes, in that order. In the Suzuki approach, the student listens, plays, then reads and writes. • What is different about The Suzuki Method? Visit fineartsassociation.org/education/music to learn more. Adapted Lessons • Available to any student: Our music therapists are available to provide an introduction to independent music lessons, help determine preference for select instruments, teach general music concepts in an engaging way, and foster a love of music learning for even the littlest maestro! Please call for more information and to learn more about our early childhood programming. Contact Ann Marie Raddell, Associate Director of Creative Arts Therapies, at 440-951-7500 x124 or araddell@fineartsassociation.org for adapted music lessons for children through adults.

FAA has over 500 students of all ages who take private music lessons per year.

SIGN UP To sign up for private music lessons, call (440) 951-7500. To sign up for music classes, visit fineartsassociation.org

THEATRE INSTRUCTION • Theatre students of all ages explore and develop their acting skills through a variety of immersive, hands-on theatre classes. For each age level, we offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced level classes depending on the student’s needs and ability. • Basic techniques include, but are not limited to: vocal projection, diction, memorization, and blocking (stage placement). In advanced classes students will hone their craft, while becoming more comfortable with character choices and development, script analysis, stage presence, and line delivery. • Students with prior training from outside organizations will meet with faculty to determine placement in various programs.

VISUAL ARTS INSTRUCTION All Visual Arts courses have new projects each session. Materials fees are included in the class tuition unless indicated otherwise. Cover-up smocks are provided for preschool art classes.

Early Childhood • Students create projects that focus on general visual art concepts in an engaging way and foster a love of art learning for even the littlest Picasso!

Ceramics • Students create projects from clay then glaze and fire them onsite at The Fine Arts Association. Ceramics projects vary by age and interests. Examples include trinket boxes, animals, plates, cups, frames, coil pots, piggy banks, baskets, tiles, beads, and more! • Adult Ceramics classes have an additional clay fee of $10 per bag. Ceramics tools are also available for $12 per kit. Tools and clay can be purchased at the Customer Service Center. • Only ceramics projects completed on-site during class at The Fine Arts Association will be fired using FAA equipment.

Drawing & Painting • Drawing: Small class sizes, studio-based setting, and professional instruction are the basis of FAA drawing classes. Project and technique focus vary with each session allowing students to acquire skills in various mediums. Mediums include chalk, crayon, graphite, marker, pastel, pen and ink, colored pencils, and more! • Painting: Want to learn something new or perfect your technique? FAA’s painting classes provide the novice through advanced student the opportunity to explore paint mediums (acrylic, tempera, watercolors, and more) while working in a studio-style, supportive environment. • Creative Painting & Drawing: The perfect combination! Students learn the basics of drawing and painting as they work in multiple mediums: pastels, charcoal, tempera paint, watercolors, and more. Observation and imagination are encouraged as students develop their creative and technical skills while creating their own art portfolio.

Textiles • Want to learn something new? Grow your craft? From mosaics and collage to sewing and jewelry design, these classes provide opportunities for creative people!
