Awesome Botanical Shop Why did you start your Etsy shop? "Lockdown 2020 happened and my main business suddenly went from being very busy to work being put on hold. As I suffer from anxiety I couldn't sit around and sunbathe all day everyday, so I decided to invest my time into studying, sampling & researching the legalities of selling cosmetics. I found a love for making handmade cosmetics, after several months I decided to set up my Etsy shop."

How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? “Several years ago I worked in procurement for an engineering business, I used to say "Awesome Dawson" a lot as it rolled of the tongue quite well. So when I set about creating my business I knew it had to have the word in wwesome in it. As I wanted to try and keep my products quite natural, and

What’s your favourite medium to work with? “Easy - lino! It's the cutting of the lino that I really enjoy, the physicality of pushing the blade through the medium and the finality of knowing that each mark I make is permanent and can't be undone. However, because I print by hand and often deliberately vary pressure and ink texture, each print is still different and I won't know for sure what it will look like until the big reveal - I'll never tire of it. ” What’s your favourite part of being an Etsy seller? “Reaching new people. A lot of the work I make is inspired by the North East and all of my shops, galleries, fairs and open studios take place locally. Etsy is my only online selling platform and it enables me to reach customers living in different places around

the country and the world, who may not be able to see my work in person. Favourite Christmas treat? So many - I love that on Christmas Day we do things and eat things that we don't do or eat on any other day of the year. I have a special recipe for homemade sausage rolls that I make every year for lunch - sage and onion and flaky puff pastry. We pick at a huge plate of these throughout the day, and they are special precisely because we only eat them at Christmas, so have all year to look forward to them!”
