Brisbane Etsy / Makers and Designers Australia We are local Etsy makers, artists, designers and vintage sellers who have crafted a proud and supportive village of homegrown talent. We come together through physical and online markets to meet others, build connections and showcase our unique, curated range of handmade products from Brisbane, Queensland and Northern NSW.


allure style Shop Why did you start your Etsy shop? I've been making jewellery since 2006 and have been hand-stamping since 2011, and I opened my Etsy shop in 2014 as a way to be able to sell my jewellery to more than just friends and family. Now I sell my jewellery to customers worldwide.

What is your favourite medium to work with? “I only work with stainless steel because I personally can't wear sterling silver, as it tarnishes too quickly on my skin and leaves a mark on my skin as well. So stainless steel was the best option for jewellery for me, as it's hypoallergenic and it won't tarnish because who has time to clean jewellery!”

Anna & Me Shop Why did you start your Etsy shop? “When my aunt became a fantastic and unique jewellery designer I rediscovered my love and passion for jewellery design and jewellery making. Unfortunately my aunt has since passed away but a week before she passed away we had decided to do a jewellery project together. We never got to complete that project. In her memory I still decided to go ahead with our project. I did not anticipate it would unlock a whole new side of my creativity and it has brought me to where I am today. Aussie Wahine Shop What is your favourite medium to work with? “14kt Gold Fill as it always keeps its colour and lustre. I also love adding discarded sea shells, freshwater pearls and genuine sea glass to my pieces for a truly coastal style.”

Where do you make your items? “I make everything in my home based studio at Buddina Beach on the Sunshine Coast where I can hear the ocean and smell the salt air.”

How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop?

“I learnt the art of jewellery making while living in Hawaii for a few years. My collection is inspired by Hawaii, the ocean and a coastal lifestyle. In Hawaii, the word ‘Wahine’ means Woman. So when I returned home I created Aussie Wahine to symbolise the connection between being an Aussie who creates an Hawaiian style of jewellery.”

Where do you make your items? “At home on the Gold Coast.”

What’s your favourite part of being an Etsy seller? “I like the ease of Etsy - you can create in your own time and upload your products whenever and wherever. The online community is fantastic and the support and information available from the Etsy site is always accessible and helpful.”

How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? “My nickname is actually "Bear" and, as I design from scratch, it seemed fitting to call my shop Bare Design - it ties in with my name but also encapsulates the design process from nothing into something tangible.”

Why did you start your Etsy shop? I have two furkids (Bonnie and Baxter) who I started making accessories for and loved it so much that I have made a business from it. I started my Etsy store in 2017 and it has grown with a lot of loyal customers.

Curious Carousel Shop Why did you start your Etsy shop? “When I was in university, I started making these little cabochon necklaces for myself. They gained a lot of interest on Tumblr, so I decided to open a little shop. I had been a customer on Etsy, and loved the handmade community, so that is where I went. What I make has changed a lot since then, but having an Etsy gave me the support I needed to grow as an artist.”

Where do you make your items? “All of my products are created by local Brisbane printers, using ethically sourced materials and production processes to keep the brand's footprint as light as possible.”

What’s your favourite part of being an Etsy seller? “As my product range grew in the Etsy store, I began to participate in Brisbane's artisan and designer markets. It began because my work tends to have a childlike dream feel to it so I used it in a collection to convey that, but that was it - I couldn't put it down. I mostly use them as surfactant and they provide an additional smoothness and moisturising effect that prevents the soaps to strip the skin's natural oil away.”
