Truscott author leads library talk Hear true-crime author Nate Hendley cast light on the highly controversial Steven Truscott case. Hendley will read from his book, Steven Truscott: Decades of Injustice, Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Brentwood library, 36 Brentwood Rd. N. near Bloor Street West and Royal York Road. Truscott is one of Canada’s most famous victims of
wrongful conviction. At age 14, Truscott faced execution for the murder and rape of a classmate, Lynne Harper, in 1959. His sentence was commuted to life in prison. In 2007, after a decade-long legal fight to reopen his case, the Ontario Court of Appeal unanimously overturned his conviction. The next year, the Ontario government awarded Truscott
$6.5 million in compensation. Hendley is a Torontobased writer and journalist who has published a series of books including John Lennon: Music, Myth and Madness; Crystal Death; and Al Capone: Chicago’s King of Crime among others. Call 416-394-5240.
