Seven years here, fifteen years existance, forty days together We’re gathering momentum and expectation as we draw closer and closer to our 40 Day Journey that launches next weekend. The weekend kicks off with our Praise Party on Friday night, 19:00 at ECC Moreleta. We want to spend the evening celebrating and giving glory to God for all He has done and all He is going to do. What better way to do this than to spend the evening in an attitude of praise? Invite everyone you know – friends, family, near, far – and bring some finger foods to share as we have fun together. Saturday, 27 July, hosts what promises to be a powerful Women’s Conference. The ladies will be spending the day hearing stories from different women giving testimonies of their own journeys with God, the paths they’ve taken and the things they’ve learned. This is a great time to connect hearts as women and to share

in the beauty that God has created each of us to reflect. Sunday morning, 28 July, will catapult us into the start of our 40 Day Journey! We are celebrating seven years of being in this building, fifteen years of being in existence as Eastside Community Church, and God’s faithfulness as our new building extension is brought to completion. We have so much to be grateful for, we have so much to look forward to, we have so much to praise God for. As we journey together, we want to remove any obstacle people may have to be able to grow in their spiritual walk. In these forty days we want to help you touch someone else’s life for the better; we want you to connect significantly with someone in a small group. We want you to grow in your knowledge and love for God; we want you to experience the

joy of serving – to help you use your life and the gifts and abilities God has given you to impact the people around you and your community. Lastly, we want you to experience the wonder and amazement of being in God’s presence in our worship services. We would like for you to commit yourself to come to every Sunday service, to get involved in a small group for fellowship and accountability, and to take the devotions seriously - take time every day to spend with God. You can sign up for devotional material, on our website, to work through on your own to help you in this journey. Click this link to sign up: 40 Days Devotions Sign Up. To get involved in a small group contact Dave Crewe-Brown (082 924 1582 or davesam@crewe-brown.co.za) or sign up at the gazebo on Sunday. We want to see everyone grow and mature in their walk with God as we move forward in this next 40 Day Journey: better together.

Mark, set… go! Life change and youth impact This year marked my 7th consecutive Holiday Club and I must say that 2013 was by far my best year. In 2007 I was invited by a friend to join the Holiday Club programme as a leader. During that week my life changed forever as I committed my life to God and accepted Him as my Saviour. Ever since then my heart’s desire has been to see teenage leaders committing their lives to God and taking Him seriously. Two years ago marked the start of the teen leaders programme, which consisted of an afternoon programme and an evening programme aimed at building community and creating opportunities for God to work in the leaders’ lives.

Last year’s Programme was truly great but this year was even better, as we built on the impact of last year. I can confidently say that many of the teenagers experienced the awesomeness of being in the presence of God; testimony after testimony was written about how God was moving in their lives. In Colossians 2:19 Paul writes about Jesus and the church and says this: “For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.” (NLT) Our heart, as the youth leadership, is to see those who came to know Christ at Holiday Club, draw closer to him; our heart is to see them grow and be nourished by the Father and not get sucked back into their old ways of life. My request as the youth pastor is that you would join us in prayer, that God would continue to draw them closer to Him, that Holiday Club would not just have been another ‘Christian moment’ which are few and far between but that this year will be the year that their lives, like mine was in 2007, will be changed forever.

Part of this on-going journey will be facilitated by the 40 Day journey we’re drawing close to; I become more and more expectant for what God is going to do in the lives of the young people in our community. We are planning on launching a number of small groups in schools

throughout Pretoria and are we’re expecting to see many people come to know God in a deeper more meaningful way. These groups will be meeting throughout the week and then will all come together on Friday nights (19:00-21:00pm at ECC Moreleta) where we will chat about what God is doing and just have an awesome time together. During the Sunday morning services we will be launching a teen church and the Sunday evening services are going to be focused on the youth and young adults in our community. Once again I would like to ask you to join us as the youth leadership in praying for breakthrough in the schools and for life change for the students – that God would raise up a generation who will take Him seriously and be known throughout their communities as His sons and daughters. Make sure you don’t miss these events: 19 July – The Amazing Race! It’s literally going to be amazing! Bring friends! 26 July – Praise Party! Bring friends, family and finger foods. 28 July – 40 Day Journey Launch! We’re celebrating God’s goodness together – invite everyone! 2 August – Holiday Club Reunion! We want all the bakers back in the kitchen! -Jason Watson

Ladies share their journey with God God has been designing a wonderful Ladies' Conference for us. Our theme is "Authentic Christianity" – nothing else is good enough and there is so much confusing white noise out there. Four speakers will share with us some of their journey with God when they were faced with cancer, depression and a child's blindness. We will have dances, songs and plenty of tea and coffee. We will also help make some teaching aids for our township Early Learning Centres. Come and join us for an inspiring and refreshing encouragement to live for Jesus. -Nicky Potgieter
