SNAP SHOT

Important decisions made at the ABM: On Monday night, 22 April, there were some important decisions made regarding Eastside’s journey. It was decided that we are going to up the tithes and offerings by just under 7% which amounts to R244 000 per month. We chose leaders: Nicky Potgieter (women’s ministry), Gordon Anderson (men’s ministry), Bruce Harbour (family life), Dave Crewe-Brown (cell ministry); and LMT members: Murray Barnetson (treasurer), Lloyd Munday, Rick van Putten, Julian Marsay, Derick O’Brien and Steven Ball. With regards to the Silver Lakes Campus, we will not proceed with it at this time because the venue we were looking at is no longer available and we’re trying to discern God’s voice in this. We want to grow Sungarden Nursery School from just a preschool to Grade 1, 2 and 3 over the next three years starting with Grade 1 next year. Over the next few weeks we’ll present the school and the congregation with a name for the school, but the preschool will keep its name. We’re currently throwing the third slab for the second story of the new building (See photos on the next page). The ground and first story still needs about R30 000. The LMT has been asked to be creatively challenge the church for the R500 000 we need to complete the whole building. That money will act as bridging finance to finish the overall project because the sale of Kimiad should cover that easily in the near future. Some people were circumstantially unable to be there, so if you have any questions feel free to contact Riaan: riaan@eastside.org.za

In addition to Friday nights (where we hang out, spend some time in the Word and discussion) we've started getting together on some Saturdays. This doesn’t replace youth but rather creates space to connect and have fun. This is a great opportunity for people to invite their friends to a less "threatening" Christian environment. These days are intentionally focused on being relational.

If you're looking for a home away from home, or if your teenager is looking for a safe place, join us on Friday nights at Eastside at 18:30. Our heart is that youth would rise up, and remain faithful to God. Pray that we'd be able to help teenagers be the generation they need to be. Pray for an increase in numbers, and pray that the team would be encouraged.
