Discovery Day is a day on which the advisory groups throughout the Bentley, Franklin, and Anglo Houses head out into the city to explore all it has to offer. This year the activities were as varied and interesting as the Dwight community. Several of the ninth grade groups took a tour of Rlker’s Island, while a tenth grade advisory tried their hand at Yoga. Laura Pasqualini ’05 There were movies, Q and Nicole (Jalpern museums, ice-skating in ’05, "It may be the park, and exotic cold, but it sure is cuisine from Japanese to Sthlopian. In the end, fun!" everyone discovered a little bit more about this versatile city in which we live.

This pledge was taken by all the participants of the Dare to Dream Conference, put on by the Dwight School’s Institute for Civic Leadership. This unique event united students from public, parochial, and private schools throughout New York City with world leaders in order to pro­ mote world peace. Students were given an oppurtunity, not only to listen to the remark­ able leaders present, but to express their own ideas and hopes for peace. ICL encourages stu­ dents to examine current events, develop conflict-resolution skills, and take responsible civic action, empowering young people to build a more peaceful world.
