Galveston County Detachment #668 Marine Corps League Sets up Shop at World Famous Biker Rally in Galveston, TX
Staff Reporter Lonestar Galveston Rally Marines Beer Booth on the Strand was a huge success! Hooah! “If you bought a Beer from the Marines your support goes towards the widows & orphans fund, wounded warriors, family assistance, scholarships, Toys For Tots and many more charitable organizations”, says Bruce Luersen, a Marine himself. Volunteers were provided by Top Model owned by Gloria Davis. Pictured from Top Model (pic 2) are Pirates Cherri Harrah, Morgan Phillips and two other hot pirates. Bottom picture: Wench Cherri Harrah, A Happy Marine, Fire Chief Frances Butler and Police Chief Gloria Jaramillo Davis. Top Model has worked with Marines for this great cause for several years.
The Marine Corps League was founded in 1937 by an act of congress and signed by then President Roosevelt. The league was formed to promote fellowship be-
tween former and current Marines, to promote good citizenship and to support widows and orphans of Marines killed in combat. Corps Projects include scholarships, family as-
sistance, Toys For Tots and community service. You can learn more at the national website. The Lonestar Galveston Rally happens every year and is 2nd only to Sturgis in the nation. Actually, this year it could
have exceeded Sturgis having over 400,000 people converge on Galveston Island over a three-day period. Even the famous Sons of Anarchy, (SOA if you’re hip) attended.

John G. Slocomb Annual Golf Tournament, Benefitting SAAFE House Church St. Financial Services Eastex Telephone Eastex.net First National Bank of Livingston First State Bank of Livingston John G. Slocomb Family Trust Texan EMS The Dam Good Times Timberlake Nursery & Stone We also greatly appreciate the support of our Hole Sponsors: The John G. Slocomb Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting SAAFE House was held on October 26, 2013 at the Livingston Municipal Golf Course. The event was a huge success, raising approximately $14,000, which goes directly to SAAFE House in Polk County. SAAFE House provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In the past SAAFE House has received the VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) Grant in the amount of $80,000. This year the grant was cut in half and SAAFE House received only $40,000. Money raised from the golf tournament will help defray that loss and assist with costs such as: funding the 24-hour hotline, temporary daycare, prescription assistance and costs of operating the shelter (i.e. utilities, food, maintenance, etc.) The shelter,
which is a modest home, can house up to 15 individuals so, you can imagine the grocery bill, laundry and upkeep required! If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence and need help please call the 24 Hour Hotline at 936327-2513. My brother, John Allen Slocomb, and I work hard to put together this tournament in memory of our father, John G. Slocomb, who passed away in 2010. John G. Slocomb was president and CEO of First National Bank of Livingston, a strong supporter of community events and an avid golfer. We have no doubt he is very pleased with the hard work and dedication we put towards this event to help SAAFE House. Our mom, Connie Slocomb, is overwhelmed at the success of this event and could not be more
proud of her children. The event would not be a success without the help of our wonderful volunteers. We would like to thank the following volunteers: Marty Drake Sean Ericson Crystal Laramore David Yetter Sherry Sprayberry Jolene Miller Crystal Cain Devin Wars Savannah Steffey Michelle Steffey Connie Slocomb Shay Slocomb Trevor Moye Matt Martin The tournament would not be able to give SAAFE House $14,000 without the contributions from our generous donors. Google wants more teachers to use its Google+ Hangouts video chat platform as a means of delivering virtual field trips in the classroom. To that end, the company is launching ’Connected Classrooms‘, a new initiative that helps educators link up with organizations that can provide an interesting tour or discussion via Hangouts on Air. It’s pretty simple in practice. On the site teachers can find a calendar of past and upcoming Google+ Hangouts, which they can then register for clicking through to the relevant event page on Google+. Teachers can then confirm their interest, giving organizations a better idea of how much interest there is for a particular idea or venue they have. Minnesota Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, the American Museum of Natural History and the Philadelphia Museum of Art are just a handful of virtual tour guides that have already confirmed their interest in the scheme. The Connected Classrooms site also links through to a dedicated Google+ Community page where teachers can learn more about these virtual field trips and what’s currently available to their students. It’s a novel idea that should promote the use of Google+ Hangouts in schools and by extension, some of its other services and hardware.

Military Minutes Bipartisan Members of Congress Oppose U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Fairfax, VA – A bipartisan group of 50 members of the U.S. Senate and 181 members of the U.S. House sent a clear message to President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and the United Nations that the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty will not be ratified. Earlier this year, the U.N. adopted and President Obama directed Secretary Kerry to sign this treaty, which does not exclude civilian arms from its scope and therefore directly threatens the Second Amendment. “The Obama administration has repeatedly demonstrated its contempt for our fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “On behalf of our 5 million members, the NRA would like to thank those who signed these letters for their principled stand in defending the Second Amendment freedoms of all law-abiding Americans.” The Senate effort in opposition to the ATT was led by Sens. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Joe Manchin (D-WV). Their letter, signed by 50 senators, states clearly that “as members of the Senate, we pledge to oppose the November 2013
ratification of this treaty, and we give notice that we do not regard the U.S. as bound to uphold its object and purpose.” A bipartisan group of 181 members of the U.S. House sent a separate letter of opposition. That effort was led by Reps. Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Collin Peterson (D-MN). “The NRA will continue to fight against ratification of the U.N. ATT, which undermines the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans,” concluded Cox. “With 67 votes in the U.S. Senate being necessary for ratification, these letters send a clear message to President Obama and Secretary Kerry that this attempt to undermine our Right to Keep and Bear Arms will be met with strong opposition.” NRA- Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than four million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent
Brady Votes to Cleanup VA Backlog Veterans deserve quick response, not the run-around Washington, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives voted tonight to take steps to clear the backlog of disability claims at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The bi-partisan measure creates a task force that will evaluate the current backlog and appeals process, and then submit a report with possible solutions.
offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for lawabiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services. Be sure to follow the NRA on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NationalRifleAssociation and on Twitter @NRA.
“Our veterans deserve to receive a response to their claims in a timely manner, instead of getting the run around from the government they fought to protect,” said Congressman Kevin
Brady, a Texas Republican whose brother is an Iraq War veteran and a command sergeant major in the U.S. Army. “For too many of them, their lives are on hold as they wait for the assistance they need and have earned. That’s not fair to them or their families.” The law requires the administration to prioritize the claims, ensuring that the most vulnerable are helped first. The legislation also directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to either implement the solutions offered or to provide justification as to why the ideas are not utilized. Backlogged claims are defined as pending longer than 125 days. Currently, there are over 400,000 backlogged claims in the system.

Betrayal in Benghazi, Phil "Hands" Handley, Colonel, USAF (Ret.) "Hands" Handley is a well-respected USAF fighter pilot. Here is his short resume of accomplishments. Colonel Phil "Hands" Handley is credited with the highest speed air-to-air gun kill in the history of aerial combat. He flew operationally for all but 11 months of a 26-year career, in aircraft such as the F-86 Sabre, F-15 Eagle, and the C130A Hercules. Additionally, he flew 275 combat missions during two tours in Southeast Asia in the F-4D and F-4E. His awards include 21 Air Medals, 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses, and the Silver Star. Here is what Col. Handley wrote in response to Panetta and Dempsey's claims there was no time to send help to Benghazi: “The combat code of the US Military is that we don't abandon our dead or wounded on the battlefield. In US Air Force lingo, fighter pilots don't run off and leave their wingmen. If one of our own is shot down, still alive and not yet in enemy captivity, we will either come to get him or die trying. Among America 's fighting forces, the calm, sure knowledge that such an irrevocable bond exists is priceless. Along with individual faith and personal grit, it is a sacred trust that has often sustained hope in the face of terribly long odds. November 2013
The disgraceful abandonment of our Ambassador and those brave ex-SEALs who fought to their deaths to save others in that compound is nothing short of dereliction-of-duty. Additionally, the patently absurd cover-up scenario that was fabricated in the aftermath was an outright lie in an attempt to shield the President and the Secretary of State from responsibility. It has been over eight months since the attack on our compound in Benghazi . The White House strategy, with the aid of a "lap dog" press has been to run out the clock before the truth is forthcoming. The recent testimonies of the three "whistle blowers" have reopened the subject and hopefully will lead to exposure and disgrace of those responsible for this embarrassing debacle. It would appear that the most recent firewall which the Administration is counting on is the contention "that there were simply no military assets that could be brought to bear in time to make a difference" mainly due to the unavailability of tanker support for fighter aircraft. This is simply garbage regardless how many supposed "experts" the Administration trot out to make such an assertion. The bottom line is that even if the closest asset capable of re-
sponse was half-way around the world, you don't just sit on your penguin [posterior] and do nothing. The fact is that the closest asset was not half-way around the world, but as near as Aviano Air Base , Italy where two squadrons of F-16Cs are based. Consider the following scenario (all times Benghazi local): When Hicks in Tripoli receives a call at 9:40 PM from Ambassador Stevens informing him "Greg, we are under attack!" (his last words), Hicks immediately notifies all agencies and prepares for the immediate initiation of an existing "Emergency Response Plan." At AFRICON, General Carter Ham attempts to mount a rescue effort, but is told to "stand down". By 10:30 PM an unarmed drone is overhead the compound and streaming live feed to various "ComThe Dam Good Times
mand and Control Agencies" so everyone watching that feed knew what was going on. At 11:30 PM Woods, Doherty and five others leave Tripoli, arriving in Benghazi at 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning, where they hold off the attacking mob from the roof of the compound until they are killed by a mortar direct hit at 4:00 AM. So nothing could have been done, eh? Nonsense. If one assumes that tanker support really "was not available" what about this: When at 10:00 PM AFRICON alerts the 31st TFW Command Post in Aviano Air Base, Italy of the attack, the Wing Commander orders preparation for the launch of two F-16s and advises the Command Post at NAS Sigonella to prepare for hot pit refueling and quick turn of the jets. By 11:30 PM, two F-16Cs
with drop tanks and each armed with five hundred 20 MM rounds are airborne. Flying at 0.92 mach they will cover the 522 nautical miles directly to NAS Sigonella in 1.08 hours. While in-route, the flight lead is informed of the tactical situation, rules of engagement, and radio frequencies to use. The jets depart Sigonella at 1:10 AM with full fuel load and cover the 377 nautical miles directly to Benghazi in 0.8 hours, arriving at 1:50 AM which would be 20 minutes after the arrival of Woods, Doherty and their team. Providing that the two F-16s initial pass over the mob, in full afterburner at 200 feet and 550 knots did not stop the attack in its tracks, a few well placed strafing runs on targets of opportunity would assuredly do the trick. Were the F-16s fuel See BENGHAZI page 27 Page 9

The Federation of Republican Women Converge on San Antonio, TX What a difference a convention makes! Six hundred Texas members of the Federation of Republican Women met in San Antonio (October 16-20) over an extended weekend for their biennial convention. It was held at the Grand Hyatt on The Riverwalk. The women, and their guests, were treated to a terrific lineup of speakers that included former, and present, officeholders, candidates and TFRW leaders. Some of the speakers included RNC’s Texas National Committeeman Dr. Robin Robinson, former Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson; Congressman Bill Archer (House Ways and Means Chairman, now retired; Pete Olson of Sugarland; Kevin Brady of East Texas and numerous other state officials. ALL Republicans, of course! The “kick off” speaker for the convention was Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico, who has a great life story…especially when she came to the realization in her adulthood, along with her husband, “I’ll be damned! We’re Republicans!” She is the first Hispanic woman to become governor of a state and the first Hispanic Republican woman governor. She will be an incumbent this November 2014 along with many of the other speakers. Included in the run for Lt. Governor was November 2013
incumbent Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, who has State Senator Dan Patrick and Texas Agricultural Commissioner Todd Staples, all running for the same position. New faces, as well as old ones on the block, for numerous state offices spoke. This included those running for Governor, Attorney General, Land Commissioner, Agricultural Commissioner, Railroad Commissioner and judgeships. Everyone agreed to “stand up and challenge the democratliberal belief system;” engage our community to make a difference; and starting now we are working for winning the next election! The emphasis for the convention by the TFRW leadership in looking toward the future, was determined to be engagement (formerly outreach) of those not usually Republican voters; increasing our membership in Texas Republican Women’s groups by 10% or more; supporting our candidates and energizing our grassroots supporters. The new president, Jody Rushton, from the Conner Herrington R.W. in Plano, will be leading the way in this battle to keep Texas “RED.” The ladies are well aware that numbers of formerly ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform) associates and/or
members started moving into Texas from outside states since the last election of November 2012 to “MAKE” Texas blue by any means possible. Their reputation precedes them as they are well known for cheating to get the results they want. So a battle is expected and the ladies have already started their work to fire up Republicans, Tea Parties and Independents and whomever else they can bring into the fold. The finale started with an 8 minute standing ovation as Senator Ted Cruz arrived from Washington D.C. He ate with the ladies; inducted the new president, and board; and gave a terrific speech without notes or a teleprompter. Cruz stated that we are in an epic battle and that Mike Lee from Utah has been right with him all the way. He said that we need to continue to energize the grassroots and add to the tidal wave that has already started. He gave the House of Representatives accolades for their standing up in adversity and called them a “profile in courage!” He said that the Senators did not stand together. If that happened, we wouldn’t need the cavalry and we would have picked up democrats who are facing a tenuous re-election in 2014. INSTEAD we have gotten 1. MORE debt, 2. NO Relief from regulations and debt, and 3. MORE pork barrel. He stated that the politicians who are not with us, the people, are MOST The Dam Good Times
ANGRY about YOU, the American constituents, because you have kept calling their offices; emailing them and, in general, jamming up the works soooooooooo he encouraged us to keep doing that! Hold the elected officials accountable! Spread the word and win the argument on obamacare! What was accomplished, you ask; and the usual democrat phrase, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? This writer believes, along with Senator Cruz, that the answers are: • TOGETHER we elevated the national debate on the harm of obamacare • We energized the grassroots. • Democrats have taken many stupid votes specifically giving themselves a congressional exemption from oba-
macare including the judicial branch of government and their staffs. AND they added subsidies to help them pay for their special health insurance. • Democrats have “played along to get along” with the president while favored were given exemptions, while time limitations have been extended to “certain” companies, and “certain” labor unions, but this did NOT include individual citizens, their families and small businesses. Together we can defeat them with their unAmerican ideas; anti-Capitalism stances and beliefs that are way out of line with our JudeoChristian traditions; the inspiration of our founding fathers and The Constitution of the United States of America. Random Rants By Penny Uselton Since when do we purposely exclude people from our most historic monuments (unless work is being done on them)? In the stiff-necked democrat-produced SHUTDOWN, Andrews AFB Golf Course was NOT closed. Why you ask? It is obama’s favorite golf course and he wanted it kept open for guess who? The White House allowed and promoted an amnesty rally of largely illegal aliens to take over the National Mall (I know that I am repeating this with new info though.); BUT kept veterans our veterans from the war memorials and other monuments. It took nearly as many Parks personnel to keep people out as it would to have kept things open. Thank you Congressman Ralph Hall (with wire cutters), Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, Michelle Bachman, and Senator Ted Cruz for showing up and insisting that the barricades be moved! AND yahoo to those men and women who showed up on the weekend; and piled the barricades, out of the way, EVEN TAKING them to the White House in disgust! Have you noticed the “RULING CLASS” PLAYS BY A DIFFERENT SET OF RULES? Where does Congress get off exNovember 2013
empting themselves, their staffs, the President and his staff, and federal judges from the abomination of obamacare? (There may be others we are not privy to know as yet just as “certain” favored businesses and labor unions do not have to comply until whatever date obama decides will do.) I call it SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT! Since when has a president of the United States been able to bypass Congress change the LAW to suit his purposes? Guess what? It is not constitutional! There seems to be a disconnect with reality. Why are normal political beliefs called extreme, or described as extremism? This is coming out of the mouth of obama, other democrats and their minions and has been ever since he took over the presidency. Since when is smaller government, less government spending and defending liberty extreme? Do you wonder if Michelle Obama is now proud of her country OR is she just glad she is the first lady and can live “high on the hog” with her many trips with friends throughout the world and her “rock star like” existence? We know who is footing the bill, yours truly. Speaking about Michelle, that reminds me
there is an old saying, “FOLLOW THE MONEY.” Like you I have wondered why a Canadian firm (learned that about 10/22) got the healthcare website for our government WITHOUT BIDS. In fact I had no idea who got the contract; but I wondered as it has been such a FIASCO. Just found out (10/26) that Mrs. Obama’s Princeton classmate is an executive at the company, CGI Federal. Her name is Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85. Both she, and the first lady, are members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni. So far to date, it has cost us $678,000,000 for a colossal disaster! Other contracts that have come to CGI over the past FIVE years include: $11 billion to build TABSS (Technical, Acquisition & Support Services) for the Department of Homeland Security and the Coast Guard; $1.7 billion to distribute Relief for Hurricane Sandy; $15 million and another $900 million to design and operate the EPA’s IT Security for a grand total of $14,293,000,000. It is great for CGI to have friends in high places!) This information has been reported in The Washington Examiner, The Washington Executive Magazine, Fox News, and the Bloomberg News. Obama has always had “the road paved” for him and has no idea what the middle class or lower classes have ever gone through to succeed, if they are able to succeed. He has always had “someone with influence” who has gotten him to nearly every stage of his life starting with his entry into the BEST private school in Hawaii and his admittance to some of the most prestigious universities in the United States. Major health insurance companies have cancelled 100’s of thousands of individual and family policies, as they cannot meet the requirements of the government. Thousands of citizens are getting letters from their health insurance companies that their premiums have been increased anywhere from 50% to 115% and the deductibles have skyrocketed!!! (In other words, Justice Roberts was right about it being a tax. We will pay the government so much a month and still pay the doctor the full amount because very few of us will go over the deductible. It was reported this 10/27 that there will be, at the very minimum, 4,000,000 of our neighbors, and citizens, who will be losing their single care insurance although they may have not been notified as yet. (Reported Fox News

Because of government fees and mandates health insurance premiums have gone up through the roof. If you are a woman or, believe it or not, a man, you have to pay for childbirth, birth control pills, abortions, and maternity leave. It doesn’t matter what sex you are or how OLD you are. Texas Takes OLYMPICS
By Ma Bruner Nineteen-ninety-six was a big year. We were living in Atlanta, and the Olympics came to our town! We would be just like the people we had seen on television. I pictured us walking around in parkas, even though we would host the Summer Olympics. I guess I had watched mostly Winter Olympics on TV. It was a time filled with fun, frustration and fear. We purchased tickets to the Modern Pentathlon. Any event that took place in three different places and involved horses, swords and guns had to be pretty cool. It was an all-day event with an included shuttle bus to transport us to the event venues. I thought that those events, along with the swimming and running would give us a nice taste of the Olympic experience with one ticket. Equestrian jumping, fencing, running, shooting and swimming – all in one day! Unfortunately, the event was split, and we ended up with mountain biking, still a pretty cool event. The mountain biking November 2013
event was fun, but it is not the greatest spectator event. I do have a fondness for the independent spirit and rule of the sport, and for bicycling in general. In cross-country biking I have seen a team member hold onto the side of a van, speeding along without pedaling, while a crew member hangs out of the van window and adjusts the rider’s seat. That always seemed a bit like cheating to me. In mountain biking, there are no assists. If a rider falls and a spectator helps drag the bike out of the way – disqualified! Tire repairs, adjustments, make-do patch-ups are all done by the rider and the rider alone. I have seen riders continue with tires held onto the rims with shoe laces, with missing seats, and by literally running with their disabled bicycles on their backs. The course is huge, so watching the event basically was seeing the start, running to a spot in the middle to see them zoom by, and running to the end to see the finish. The big finish was spoiled for us when some big and tall jerk crowded in front of Kelly at the last minute, blocking her view entirely. My day was interrupted by a wasp sting and a brief trip to the medical tent. There were non-sport
events and festivals around town every night. We saw everything from punk bands to Irish dances. We bought pins and lots of festival food. We went downtown with friends to enjoy the concerts and celebration, and to just be part of the Olympic experience. For years I had seen the people in other nations stroll around, wear the pins, eat the overpriced food and be part of the Olympics. We were like them. The little town of Coldspring, Texas can put on a nice parade or festival. Imagine the same in a town of about three million, with a hundred thousand foreign guests. Down the road from the center of celebration we heard a loud boom. One of us remarked, “Fireworks! They must be finishing up for the night.” I don’t know why, but I knew it was not fireworks. We waited for more booms and they did not come. A huge mass of people moved down the street toward the center, and were soon followed by all manner of emergency vehicle. Some among us wanted to follow the people and see the activity. Others pointed out if it was a bomb or other emergency, a second one would send the huge panicked mass of people back up the street directly back at us. We went into The Dam Good Times
a friend’s office nearby for a better view and shelter from the activity on the street. We made it home late, and after answering worried calls from friends we slept. We and many others went back the next night, just to prove we would not be bullied. I recall walking by the stage pylon where the bomb was left, just 40 minutes before it detonated. Though it may have been implanted by suggestion, I have a memory of a backpack lying on the ground, inches from where I stepped. Though the memory may not really be my own, I recall a frantic person at a bay of pay phones near the stage area. The memories may be real or not, but they are a part of my
experiences of that night. A gentleman named Richard Jewell was hailed as a hero. He discovered the contents of the backpack and alerted the police, arguably saving many people. Later, he was considered a suspect and eventually cleared of any criminal intent. As a lesson for you all, the condemnation never really cleared for See Olympics page 24 Page 12

By Penny Uselton Here are the reasons why I will NEVER become a democrat, or even vote for a democrat again! (Yes, I have voted for a few.) My severest complaint directed towards TODAY’S democrats is
They are the “World’s Best at Finger Pointing” and relish setting the blame on others, whomever they may be. They are money squanderers not interested in being fiscally responsible. They believe in spreading everyone else’s wealth to endear themselves to
those who may, or may not, be in need to get their allegiance. They have most of the news media in the palm of their hand spouting off their same old phrases in an attempt to brainwash us and keep their “low information” followers in the dark; and their “bleeding heart,” holier than thou snoots with them. The more power they can grab for themselves, and take away from the American people…contrary to The Constitution of the United States… the better they like it! They have been vying for the Hispanic vote by pushing the repeated illegals crossing into the USA and the border intrusion by dangerous cartels
on the very back burner. In other words, Arizona, New Mexico, California and Texas can go to HELL! Now that the “affordable” obamacare is beginning to send out shockwaves throughout our health system (as hospitals, insurance companies, doctors and patients have been savaged); Obama is bringing up the topic of AMNESTY for illegals and REFORMING our immigration system to shift the attention of our thought processes away from healthcare. As proof of the pandering to illegal aliens, when our veterans, and other visitors to Washington, D.C., were banned from our national monuments, the White House allowed illegals to have an Amnesty Rally (10/8) at the National Mall. (Incidentally, they left a huge amount of debris behind and a man visiting from the Carolinas, Chris Cox, brought a lawnmower, rake, blower and a hundred bags to begin the cleanup job. When the news got out, he was later joined by several 100 citizen volunteers taking several days for the cleanup.) (Isn’t it interesting we have heard no more from the two women from Chicago, who were “past” associates of David Axelrod and had accused Hermann Cain of misconduct resulting in him dropping out of the 2012 presidential race? OR the accusations by “tiny man,” Harry Reid, that the Romney’s had not paid any taxes in 2011; but never felt obliged to say where his information came from? Did, or has, any of this been a result of the “BIG BROTHER” NSA listening in on us or the IRS gathering information? Then there is always the good old IRS intimidation of all of us taxpayers and particularly zeroing in on Republicans, conservatives, tea party enthusiasts and Christians and their various not for profit organizations. Having led the charge to single out the aforementioned groups and people, it was great to hear that Lois Lerner has resigned! It was about time. We have been paying her salary and legal bills for some time. Now she is on her own. It just sounds a lot like the usual and typical power hungry, democrat skullduggery. Sex in the Woods Real Men Hunt AND Gather
By Crystal Laramore In honor of Hunting Season: Last week I was driving along the road and for some reason just started seeing, really seeing my surroundings. What jumped out at me was all of the Neon signs. I happened to be praying at the time and my conversation with God morphed from “thank-you’s” to “look at what your children have created”. Then I wondered if this is what he had in mind for his children? Neon signs, busy streets, clocks, fax machines, cell phones we cannot seem to put down, email, internet, Xbox, YouTube, Facebook, twier, tmblr, Instagram, Pintrest….it’s like we are all LinkedIn and checked out. Several months ago my UB (Uncle Bill for you newcomers) and AC (his beer half, Aunt Cheryl) sent me an article titled “Shhhh, I’m Hunting” and it resonated with a lot of my core beliefs about nature and God and the way our lives all seem to be headed in a negative direction. For YEARS I have wrien this column and for November 2013
YEARS I have preached that women were intended to nurture and men were intended to hunt AND gather. Period. My very successful sister, Jacqueline Morrison, just told me this past week that she loved nesting. I said “me too” and she shook her head back and forth and said “No you don’t”. I said “Yes I do” and so began an eye-opening conversation. I don’t think it maers how successful you are in a career, if you are a woman you like to nest. MOST women anyway. And we are happy to have our men do what men should do…hunt and gather. Men might be happy at work but I bet they’re happier in a deer stand or hunting elk or speeding around a track in a race-car than in some corporate meeting. Now, there are jobs that satisfy the wild heart of men but not many. You often hear people say men are defined by what the “Do” as in their job but I beg to differ. I think that is just bull malarkey. I have known many a “successful” man who is divorced and living away from his children; miserable at work and at home; checked out; stressed out.... Why do you think that is? I think you MUST connect with God and your family to have a happy one. And it’s kinda hard to connect with either when you are tied to a
job…especially a job that does not embrace God First, Family Second and Career Third values. It’s sad to see that our world is so dependent on gadgets that it’s actually “in” right now to turn off the cell phones at least one day during the weekend. One person said it prompts your friends to just stop by. What a novel concept; faceto-face time instead of Face-time. Just to drive my point home I interviewed several men from across the nation to get their point-of-view and their responses were so amazing that I decided to turn this into a series. The first response is from Paul Phillips. Paul Phillips is a retired Army officer. He now makes his living as a Wyoming attorney, but spends the majority of his waking hours planning his next excursion to see what is over the next hill or around the next bend in the stream.

Maybe you’re the same. Can you hear the sound of your favorite pair of boots crunching through heavily-frosted weeds and grasses as you take those first, furtive steps on a foggy morning? Can you hear that old barbed-wire gate? Can you sense the
soft glow emanating from a far-away camp-fire – the one you sought after having gotten lost just long enough to make your heart pound? Can you remember that moonlit walk with your father down a snow-covered, ancient logging road lined with ponderosa and white pine? Can you smell the damp sweetness after the sage and greasewood brushed against your pant-leg while you stumbled to get into position in the pre-dawn darkness? Good New Gazee Wait For It...
By Deborah K. Martin Seems like we spend a lot of our lives waiting. When we’re little we’re waiting to go to school. Then it’s waiting for summers. Junior High. High School. To wear makeup. To go on a date. To graduate. To hear back from a job interview. Get married. Have kids. Have grandkids. Retire. Lots of waiting. Some of the waiting is a lot of fun like waiting for the
birth of your first child and wondering if it’s going to be a boy or girl. That’s the way it was when I was waiting anyway. None of this ultrasound business or genetic testing stuff. We just waited to hear what the doctor said. “It’s a boy!” YAY! “It’s a girl!” YAY! No wonder my nursery was orange, green and yellow. (And ugly, by the way but that’s all the PX had) As we get older we sometimes have to wait for things which are not so pleasant. We wait through a loved one’s surgery or illness. We know there’s a layoff happening and wait to see if OUR name is on the list. I think it’s a test sometimes. Of our character.
I wait in traffic every single day which is entirely a test of character though I don’t equate it with cancer or something serious like that. Speaking of cancer… I’m in a waiting mode right now. I had some biopsies of suspicious tissue taken yesterday and we’ll get the results on Tuesday. It could be nothing or it could be the BIG C! Some time ago that was a word only whispered by the brave. It was mostly ignored as if NOT uttering those two syllables it would make it go away. I’m very happy to say that this is no longer the case. We speak of cancer openly. We have conventions, parties, and walkathons. We have support groups. We wear
pink ribbons and hats and we have ‘Save the Ta Tas” bumper stickers on our trucks. Our doctors walk us through treatment which may make us temporarily sick but bring us out on the other side sometimes altered physically but nonetheless alive and well. We learn from these experiences whether it is US going through them or a loved one. You, dear reader, should know by now that I think there’s always something to learn. Sometimes it is patience. Or perseverance. Sometimes humility or grace under pressure. In my case, if it turns out I am sick then my greatest lesson may be to ask for help and let others help me. Independence is usually considered a
strength but in these cases it becomes a weakness. Yes, I’m pretty independent so I always think I can take care of it myself which is pretty much how I got to this point at this particular time. You see, I dropped a table on my toe; a 42” round oak pedestal dining table. Oh. My. Stars. Did that ever hurt?! Since I’m diabetic and you don’t mess with those things I went to my doctor who noted that it had been quite a long time since I’d had blood work done and mammograms, etc. So I did all that and here I am waiting on the results of the table dropping on my toe. Sort of. I guess, then, if it turns See Wait For It pg 24
ing. It’s always been that way. There have always been little guys watching and wondering as the people get off for their lunch stop. Where are these people from? What was it like up on the mountain? I wonder if I could drive the bus someday when I’m grown. When we’re small, our world and our view of it tends to be smaller as well. The exotic places of the world – to an eightyear-old – aren’t Singapore or Nairobi or Calcutta. The exotic
places tend more toward Smithfield and Riverbank and Oakdale and Cottage Grove. At eight years old, the world’s horizon is Thompson Ridge, rather than the Pacific Ocean. But that doesn’t make the world any less fascinating. Those little boys knew that, after lunch, those people would get back on that bus (they even have a restroom on the bus, you know) and they would go out of town in a diesel rush and cross the bridge on Lewis Creek and then disappear. But they know that bus will
be going right past their grandparents’ house in about two hours. They asked and they know. The people on that bus might be able to look out and see Grandpa’s dog, Sadie, as the bus goes by. I wonder what Sadie’s doing right now? If I were on that bus right now, I could get off there and see. And someday I will. Someday I’ll get on and ride and I’ll know what’s out there. I’ll know…

World & Local America Turns To Welfare As Obamanomics Rots The Economy INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Sent in By Bill Laramore w?The Colorado Bureau of TDGT Poverty: Any lingering doubts about the deficiencies of Obamanomics can be dispelled with one piece of data: The U.S. has spent $3.7 trillion on welfare in the past five years, with virtually nothing to show for it. GOP members of the Senate Budget Committee reported that cumulative spending on welfare during the Obama years has been five times greater than what's been spent on transportation, education and NASA — combined. Maybe that shouldn't
be surprising. Obama, after all, promised a "fundamental transformation" of America. He's fulfilled that promise with a vengeance. Means-tested aid programs now number about 80. Food stamps, with more than 47 million recipients, have gotten the lion's share of recent attention. But that's just one of 15 food-aid programs. No, we're not against temporary help for truly desperate people. But welfare spending has grown year in and year out regardless of how the economy has performed or whether unemployment is up or down. And a lot of welfare
spending is pure waste. Just this week, the IRS admitted to the disbursement of $133 billion in bogus payments over the past decade under the earned income tax credit — a kind of direct welfare transfer from taxpayers to low-income workers. Unfortunately, the welfare state will only grow. A Senate report earlier this year noted that, based on Congressional Budget Office projections, welfare spending will rise 80% over the next 10 years. That's $11 trillion in welfare spending over that time. Just cutting that growth to 60%, the report found, would save taxpayers $1 trillion. But, as we've seen, that won't happen. Yet, surely all this money must be making a
dent in all the poverty. Nope. Today, 46.5 million Americans live in poverty and more than 70% of all federal spending goes to dependency programs, like Social Security and Medicare. At the same time, nearly half of all Americans no longer pay any federal income tax at all. This nation was once filled with proud workers and businesses eager to hire them. But, as noted here Wednesday, a record 90.6 million Americans of working age are no longer in the labor force. Logic tells us they have to be supported by (1) their own savings, (2) working children or spouses or (3) welfare. Increasingly, it seems, (3) is the answer. The Census Department reported just this week that
49% of the population, or 151 million Americans, got federal aid from at least one program in 2011 — up from 94 million in 2000. The U.S., sadly, has become a nation of dependents, and Obamanomics is accelerating the process. With debt at $17 trillion and rising, more than $50 trillion in unfunded liabilities, and fewer workers to pay for it all we will soon be bankrupt. A nation of welfare dependents who won't or can't work or pay taxes cannot prosper. Instead, it becomes stagnant and unproductive. We're well on our way.

Brady Briefing: Stop “Crisis Politics” Solve America’s Deficit Problems The government has re-opened until January 15 and America’s debt will be paid in full and on time through February 7. However, I opposed the Senate-created agreement because it doesn’t solve the problem of America’s dangerous debt and deficits. President Obama and Congress are kicking the can down the road a few months, but we really need a complete solution to get America’s financial house in order for the long haul. Working with some of the brightest conservative economists in the nation and President Reagan’s former budget director, I developed the Maximizing America’s Prosperity Act or MAP. Rather than allowing Washington to continue spending and borrowing far beyond our nation’s means, the MAP Act imposes smart spending caps on future presidents and congresses, beginning to shrink the federal government to a size we can afford, while providing the services constituents need – like national security, veterans care, Medicare and Social Security. Rightsizing the federal government is critical to our nation’s future success. Along with reducing red-tape, it’s a proven way to help Main Street America produce jobs again. Texas is doing well, but under President Obama, more than 90 November 2013
million American adults are no longer attached to the workforce. That’s worse than it was four years ago. “Stay the course” is no longer an option to get people working again. In addition to spending caps, MAP includes flexible, strong guardrails to keep the White House and Congress from overspending when times are good – or making drastic cuts when times are bad. When cuts are too politically difficult, Washington often does nothing. The MAP Act creates accountability and discipline to keep all of federal spending in check to gradually reduce the burden of government on families and local businesses. MAP establishes in Washington a tool that many states use to cut obsolete agencies and programs: sunsetting. This is a proven process where federal agencies, many of them created a hundred years ago, must regularly prove their worth to taxpayers today or face elimination. The MAP Act requires every president to send a budget to Congress that stays within the guardrails. And the commander-in-chief must rank the funding priorities of the government from most essential to least essential so taxpayers know which programs are the most important. Your family must set priorities why not the President? The MAP Act also
gives every president an item reduction veto which allows the president to strike frivolous spending items. Congress can override the veto, but this should stop last-minute special provisions from being snuck into spending bills. Finally, MAP ends forever the threat of a government shutdown by automatically funding the government at 90% of the previous year’s spending level whenever Congress and President fail to fund the government. So when politicians gridlock, the government stays open, but taxpayers win. In the three months before the debt ceiling is again reached, the President and Congress should sit down and tackle the big picture of America’s finances. The MAP Act contains common-sense reforms that both parties can agree on that will make real progress toward restoring America as the financially strongest nation in the world. You’ve read so much about the disastrous first month of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Just remember: the flaw is the law itself, not the website. This is what happens when ObamaCare injects 159 new federal agencies, programs and commissions between you and your health care. If Washington can’t create and run a website, just wait until it starts making decisions about your personal health care. The Dam Good Times

Muslims Mark Prayerful Holiday at Angel Stadium
By Ma Hanlon Orange County Register ANAHEIM, CA - Beneath the shadows of Angel Stadium, the morning was not so typical - as 15,000 Muslims on tidy rows of woven prayer mats stretching from the infield to deep center field bent forward quietly in prayer, most wearing brightly colored robes and hijabs. Muslims from across Orange County flocked to the stadium to celebrate Eid al-Adha with prayer followed by the khutba, or the sermon, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The event, held for the second consecutive year at the stadium, was organized and funded by the three largest mosques in Orange County: the Islamic Center of Irvine, the Islamic Institute of Orange County in Anaheim and the Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove. (Can you say "Muslim Brotherhood"?) November 2013
Eid al-Adha, or Feast of Sacrifice, celebrates Prophet Abraham's obedience to God to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael. The Quran details Abraham and Ishmael's willingness to obey God and how their faith is ultimately rewarded; God stops Abraham as he is about to kill Ishmael, [you all got that, right? Ishmael, not Isaac. See, Allah was here before God, and the Jews and Christians have been hiding that story all along and corrupting Allah's word, therefore Allah finally got fed up enough to get the word right and appointed Muhammad (he of the "last and best prophet" title) to bring the real word of Islam to the world] telling him to instead sacrifice a sheep. "The festival of sacrifice is to commemorate what Prophet Abraham did and also realize that we need to make our own sacrifices in life," said Shaykh Mustafa
Umar, Islamic Institute of Orange County's director of education and outreach who helped organize the event. "So it reminds us that we have a connection to Abraham and we have to make our own sacrifices." The holiday also marks the end of Hajj, the annual period when millions of Muslims make the pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims celebrate Eid alAdha through prayer, sacrifice of a sheep, goat or cow, and an exchange of gifts with friends and family members; families who are financially able sacrifice an animal each of the three days following the Eid al-Adha, and share the meat with the poor. The event will likely not be held at Angel Stadium next year because Eid al-Adha falls on October 4, 2014, during baseball season. If that's the case, the three Islamic centers will not cohost an Eid, because there is no other venue large enough in Orange County, Umar said. (Oh, I can see it now: Orange County is about to get pummeled with permission requests for planning and building the United States most gigantic mosque!)

Where did THEY go to school? Who taught THEM? This hijacking of American Historical truth is happening at a publicly-funded university in Illinois. No telling how long the plaque has been hanging in error or if anyone really cares. Remember, it’s Democrats who are supposed to care about “the poor and underprivileged”, NOT the Republicans. Ahem. Boundsautoplex.net Representative White Supports Continued Funding of Local Schools through Extension of Federal Secure Rural Schools and Communities Act State Representative James White has joined his East Texas colleagues in the State Legislature in urging Congress to support the extension of a federal law enacted in 2000 that provides additional funding to schools that have historically relied on a federal revenue sharing program for counties that comprise several national forests. “This law represents a federal obligation to these communities that gave up land over 100 years ago to create the National Forest System," explained Representative White. "Because of strict environmental regulations imposed in the 1980s and 1990s, revenue from pub-
lic lands fell drastically during that period, which led to the passage of the Secure Rural Schools and Communities Act to restore this funding. Along with my colleagues from East Texas, I am asking Congress to fulfill its obligation to these communities and extend this law so that our schools can continue to receive the funding they deserve." When land in several East Texas counties was designated as national forests and transferred to the federal government at the beginning of the last century, the capacity to fund local schools was severely reduced, and the federal government cre-

"The Secure Rural Schools and Communities Act is not a handout but represents the federal government's ongoing obligation to these communities for the sacrifices they made to preserve a part of natural East Texas for the rest of the country to enjoy. I am hopeful Congress will recognize its responsibility to our rural counties and schools in East Texas and extend this law," said Representative White.

Texas: Boom State USA No doubt our record makes states that overtax, overregulate and overlitigate nervous. It should. By Crystal Laramore This story was actually inspired by Houston (and syndicated) Tell-It-Like-ItIs Radio Talk Show Host, father, husband, Christian, patriot and owner of The Redneck Country Club in Stafford, TX...Michael Berry. Whenever I am driving I listen to 740 AM KTRH. One day Michael Berry was saying something to the effect of “If the New York Times and The WSJ were headquartered in Texas the world news would be a lot different.” He was commenting on the strong Texas economy vs. most of the rest of the U.S. Berry went on to chastise the media for not exploiting this great Texas factoid. So...my cover was idea was born. Berry is right...there is a reason people want to be “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and it ain’t all about the BBQ! We are prideful here, VERY prideful and with good reason. Whenever I drive down long country roads and see the Texas State carved into wood or ectched into glass or drawn on the side of an old, dilapidated barn my heart skips a beat as big as...well, you know! A friend of mine said “I personally think there are November 2013
actually two issues at play...of course, low taxes, smart regulation, and fair courts are key, but the other driver here is the people and the spirit of TEXAS. The culture, strength and statepride that exists in Texas makes the whole picture come together. Obviously, not everyone in the U.S. understands this Texas sized spirit, but those of us who live in the Lone Star State, feel it and get it. The following is a summation from Governor Perrys’ interview with USA Today: “How do you create opportunity? As governor of the state that has created three out of every 10 jobs in America over the last 10 years, that's what I get asked most often. My reply is simple: It's not a trade secret, it's common sense. We maintain low taxes, smart regulations and fair courts. OUR VIEW: Deep in the heart of self-promotion The results are indisputable; despite a population surging by 1,000 people a day, our unemployment rate is consistently below the national average, dropping to
6.4% just last month. No doubt our record of success makes states that overtax, overregulate and overlitigate nervous. It should. But every state in America can do what Texas has done. They just have to be willing to compete. Competition drives states to be more efficient and effective, and get the most out of every dollar and every hour we invest. It's the antithesis to big government controlling our lives. That's why people who believe in competition, like myself, must spread the word about a better way of doing business, especially since Washington won't reverse course on big government anytime soon. The Texas model of success means more opportunities, better jobs and better lives for Texans. Companies moving from high-tax, high-regulatory states to low-tax, progrowth states like Texas have a greater chance to grow and create even more jobs. In fact, in just the past 15 months, dozens of CaliThe Dam Good Times
fornia companies have publicly announced plans to relocate or expand in Texas, totaling more than 12,000 jobs. It's important for business leaders trapped in unfriendly states to hear what Texas has to offer. Equally important is the need to push the conversation about competition so states such as Illinois, Missouri and Maryland engage in serious discussions about how to improve their jobs climate.
the course of big government, Texas offers residents and industries tired of high taxes and big government the option to pursue their dreams in a place where they're free to excel. Left to its own, big government only gets bigger, tries to do more and does it poorly. Only by reigniting our national passion for competition can we create jobs, grow our economy and contain big government.”
Competition raises everyone's performance, and that's good for our national economy. If states decide to stay Page 20

He said to us, “I can understand my insurance going up a little each year to due to normal cost increases. Don’t Tread on Me “Our Holy Pilgrimage will be Complete Once We Have Killed You, Ripped Out Your Hearts and Raped Your Women.” By Dan Greenfield Dan writes for FrontPage Mag Muslims in America are trained to spend a lot of time complaining about Islamophobia. But some Muslims from Dearbornistan only learned what the real thing was when they made their pilgrimage to Mecca. Like so many Dearbornies, they were Shiites. And Saudi Arabia is a Sunni country. A group of Americans visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj were threatened and attacked earlier this week on Oct. 16 by a radicalized group of extremists. When they encountered a group that identified themselves as not only Americans, but also as Shiite Muslims, they were threatened and attacked by the group of men, who were apparently armed with knives and other blades. In continuing the assault, the men also shouted “We’re going to do Karbala all over again,” The Americans fled the tent area, which the Saudi government had November 2013
specifically designated for American and European pilgrims. During the escape, many of the group, almost entirely U.S. citizens and mostly hailing from Dearborn, Michigan suffered bruises (in one case, due to an attempted strangulation), concussions, broken bones, and black eyes. During the attack, the men reportedly shouted “Our [holy pilgrimage] will be complete once we have killed you, ripped out your hearts and eaten them, and [then] raped your women.” Nothing says Holy pilgrimage like a little hearteating and woman-raping. And who are we to judge their heart-eating rape culture anyway? Radicalized extremists? So that must mean that the heart-eaters and rapists weren’t representative of the moderate Saudi population and government in general. Victims of the attack reported that nearby police refused to take action, and in some cases were openly laughing at the attack. The Ameri-
cans approached other officers, including one described as a “lieutenant with stars on his shoulder pads.” They reported the attack and showed police video footage of the attack taken on cell phones. The “lieutenant” confiscated the phones and immediately deleted the videos in front of onlookers. Without comment, he returned the phones to their owners and left. It’s almost like the Saudi population and government is a bunch of radicalized extremists. But we all know that’s impossible. “I personally thought it was the end,” said one of the victims of this attack, a dentist from Michigan, not wishing to be identified for fear of reprisal from the Saudi police or other extremists. So the Saudi police are now “extremists”? Doesn’t that mean the entire Saudi system is “extremist”? The attackers are believed to be of the Salafi sect, more popularly known as Wahabis, who are often associated with The Dam Good Times
strong anti-Shiite viewpoints. Critics believe that many of Al-Qaeda’s members subscribe to the Salafi belief system. Really? There are Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia; a Wahhabi country? I’m shocked. So that’s only a tiny minority of twenty million extremists.
Members of the group also turned to the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia for assistance, but were told help could only be provided if members of the group had died in the attacks. Non-Saudis turning to the US embassy whose sole See Extremists page 24 Page 23

out I’m sick then I can be very thankful that my granddaughter who is at SFA needed a dining table and that I had one. Otherwise I never would have found out. Or at least not for a while longer and things could be worse. Everything happens for a purpose. Yes, I’m in waiting mode but no matter what happens I’m going to be okay because cancer no longer starts with a big C. And thank God for that!
Jewell – he never went back to being a hero. He died of “natural causes” at age 44. It is curious, the bomb, the fear, those are memories of the Olympics, do not register now as good or bad, they are just part of my memory package. What weighs heavy on me is how a good, innocent and helpful person’s life was ruined by premature conclusion.
EXTREMISTS task is to funnel Saudis into the United States at the directive of a State Department that asks how high every time the Saudis tell it to jump. Surprising that didn’t go well. In countries run by our “moderate” oil-rich allies, the US embassy is every bit as helpful as the local authorities. That is unless you’re a Saudi with terrorist ties looking for a visa to the US. This incident is the latest in a string of attacks against Westerners in Saudi Arabia. In different incidents in past years, Shi’ite Imams from the United States and Canada were either assaulted or arrested for complaining about assaults. The previous inNovember 2013
cidents, as well as this week’s attack, all required medical treatments. And if Shiites owned Mecca and were a majority in the region, then Sunnis would be treated about as well. Human rights and separation of mosque and state are alien notions in the Muslim world. Whoever has the most power kicks around everyone else. That’s what the Syrian Civil War is really about. The Dearbornies might have gotten away from all that in the United States, but instead they’ve chosen to push Islamization which perpetuates the same conflicts that they found in Saudi Arabia.

RANTS give the other 15% healthcare who don’t have health insurance! Doctor’s are planning on dropping out of the system, retiring or going into another profession because of overreaching rules and regulations. Medicare has been robbed of millions…and YES, Virginia, there are death panels that will make decisions on what you can, or cannot have, according to your VALUE to our society. Thank you DR. Ezekiel Emanuel (medical theorist), brother of Rahm Emanuel (who is doing such a GREAT job in Chicago as mayor), and CHIEF medical advisor to our illustrious president! Those who have lost their insurance, and can’t get on the website, as it is not up and running, face weeks or months without health insurance! Some people have no computer available to them OR no computer skills so they can’t access the sign up and we all know that the website is down, down, down The telephone sign up is also a fiasco. The operators, when they do answer, tell you to either try late at night or early in the morning OR wait twenty four hours and try again. Give me a break!
It been a mess from the get go! Evidently we now have Nigerian-like scam artists calling to get your personal information to steal your identity! They probably have started website scams now, too. Why not? We are being asked to give way too much confidential and personal information to them. Some things have no relevance to healthcare. Why would that be? The government wants more and more information like a voracious monster to get more and more control of us! The IRS is, and has been, out of control with their own expenditures; going after citizens leaning conservative with a purely political motivation, and directed by individuals making one mistake after another with NO ONE EVER ACCOUNTABLE! There is NOT ONE actual person with business experience who sits as an advisor to obama! Crime infested*ACORN has reopened 174 chapters in the United States and some are getting public funding AGAIN from the American taxpayer, through the federal government. They have much of the same leadership and have renamed themselves in a covert attempt to stay out of public awareness e.g. New York
Committee for Change, Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, Mutual Housing Association of New York, Affordable Housing Centers of America…Six years ago they were found to be cooking the books; involved in voter fraud; embezzlement; and telling people how to CHEAT the government to get monies. (The Houston Chronicle never understood the ACORN problem back at the time obama first ran for the presidency. Hopefully, they have an understanding of it now.) * The Washington Examiner and Judicial Watch (10/22/13) If obamacare is so good, why is it that the government is spending our hard earned taxpayer’s money to make calls and produce ads to try to “sell it?” Have you noticed that there is a World Wide War of Fanatical Muslims on the rest of the world and ARE YOU CONCERNED? Christians are being persecuted in some 50 countries worldwide and there has been numerous slaughters of Christians in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Somalia… wait a minute…England on the streets and Shiria law is even being practiced here in some 22 camps* in the USA and in some rare cases (now) in some cities in the USA.
*Some of the Muslim camps have taken over little towns in our country. Hello ladies, did you know that there is NOT a Republican war on women. There is a liberal democrat war on women. The dems are not concerned about creeping Sharia law and, therefore, neither are the louder, than their ranks appear, liberal women; but they should be. When fanatical muslims take over, females are nothing but chattel. Having no value, they can be divorced or killed nearly at will of the husband or father. Our great record since Roe versus Wade is supporting Planned Parenthood started by Margaret Sanger, who was an admirer of Hitler’s eugenics and wanted to eliminate the Negro and other less desirable people. Well, we have had 55,000,000 babies aborted as if this is an everyday occurrence. This is atrocious! Does anyone understand the concept of individual responsibility anymore? Some in the Washington “Establishment” or “Old Guard,” or those who have mistakenly fallen in with them, don’t want THEIR “applecart” upset so they are obstructionist. They want to be in charge of running things and often at our, the American TAXPAYER’S expense. They have no business sense,
no understanding of The Constitution of the United States, no integrity, no ethical standards and many are a dismal failure EXCEPT for making inside money off of us! Is there any Congressional democrat who will make a stand on what is so wrong with their party and the socialist/communist path they are steering us towards? • Taking over the world’s BEST healthcare system • Driving out businesses with their multiplicity of rules, codes, etc. • Attacking Wall Street and extorting money from them (less costly to agree with a fine then fight the government in court) • Attacking Capitalism on all fronts • Takeover of various businesses e.g. GM • Insistence on GREEN goobledygook and Global MANMADE warming • Putting Eric Holder in charge of the Department of Justice. We had his number back with his cohort, Janet Reno and Elian Gonzales days. Holder harbors animosity towards whites and has four other underling pals, who along with him were bundlers for obama when he was running. To have their Department of Justice job was their pay off.

By Summer Keys No, it's not just that time of year that we visit with our families, eat large amount of food, lounge on the couch and watch TV. It isn't just a time for the kids to drive us crazy, hopped up on sugar and adrenaline...for a WEEK! Thanksgiving has a deeper meaning and root. Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November. It has been an annual tradition since 1863 when Republican President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens." The day of which Americans call the "First Thanksgiving" was originally celebrated by the Pilgrims with the American Indians, after their first harvest in the New World in 1621.The feast lasted 3 days. I can't imagine eating Thanksgiving Dinner for 3 days. The New England Colonist were accustomed to regularly celebrating "thanksgivings" or days of pray thanking God for blessings such as Military victory or the end of a drought. The Pilgrims and Indians celebrated Thanksgiving in November 2013
peace, together. I don't know about your family but mine doesn't do anything peacefully, its always loud, crazy, chaotic and FULL of drama. We start planning weeks in advance so everyone can be together. Everyone starts cooking and preparing ( this is where the drama comes in) differing of opinions on recipes and of what things should be cooked, when we should eat. The kids run in and out of the door, they are underneath everyone, in the way, laughing, giggling and always moving (that's the loud and chaotic part). Finally dinner is prepared and ready to serve. Traditionally everyone sits down to eat a plethora of food . This is where all the hard work comes together. Everyone gathers at the table, plates and silverware are handed around. Individually everyone says why they are thankful, and in the end we are all thankful for our families even though it isn't always peaceful. Some of the most beautiful memories are made around the dinner table together as a family giving thanks to God for our loud, crazy, chaotic and drama filled families and lives. This year the real drama will start in homes all across America when we turn on our televisions to watch the Dallas Cowboys VS the Oakland Raiders. FYI, did you know the Texas Stadium is an open stadium so God can watch he Cowboys too?

Additional drivers of Texas economic prowess:
Texas has become a MONSTER non-stop job creator for the last ten years. The High Rev employment has occurred because of its’ population growth and the state’s following assets: • Geography - Texas is on the Gulf of Mexico border by Mexico and in close proximity to Latin America, its biggest trading partners. • Demography – New workers from primarily Mexico have helped to fuel the growth. • Geology – New oil sale access and advances in technology have helped to fuel the economy and the job market of over 1,000,000 workers. • The labor market growth has risen 6.4% (Bureau of Labor Statistics 2013) and includes construction, manufacturing, finance, forestry, farming and mining. Texas is diversified in new areas and has become a major hub of computer development of components and systems. The medical center in Houston brings in peo-
• Houston’s seaport, which THE BUSIEST and the MOST VALUABLE in exports of our country, can boast over 2,000,000 tons of cargo are transported annually pouring $178.5 billion into the Texas economy yearly. In other words, Texas is NUMBER 1, the port is an anchor of the state economy and it is in a PRIME LOCATION! This produces over 1,000,000 jobs. (In 2012 $264.7 billion were exported out of the port of Houston.) • In addition, Laredo, Texas is the largest inland port in the United States and handles a good deal of import and exports at their port. • Three of the fastest growing cities in the United States are Austin, Dallas and, of course, Houston! • Texans believe in hard work, risk taking and don’t mind a little bragging with it. This along with the state’s RIGHT TO WORK policy (You don’t have to become a member of a labor union.); fewer state regulations on business; and

TORT REFORM have proven to be a winning combination! • There are opportunities galore in Texas as the cost of living is low; there is NO INCOME TAX; and the JOBS are there! • Texas can boast that it is the Number 1 state in the United States with the most farms and acreage used for farming. “Cotton is King;” and nationally Texas is first in sheep and goat products. Watermelons, grapefruit and cantaloupe make up the important fruit crops. • The gross product for Texas in 2011 was $1,332 trillion which was the second highest in the USA. • 6 of the top 50 Fortune 500 companies were from Texas and 51 Texas companies are listed in the Fortune 500 top companies. • If Texas were a sovereign state, it would be listed as the 14th largest world economy (GDP). Other states, even those along the southern border with Mexico, cannot replicate what Texas has to offer. Texas has one of the highest population growths with well over 1,000 + coming on a daily basis from other states to work and live. (Austin American-Statesmen, IRS Stats)

Rumor Has It... I can't substantiate the following but have heard discussed in congressional testimony and on talk-radio, a news source second ONLY to TDGT’s... ...Raised by a Congressman during hearings on Monday of this past week - Buried in the massive amounts of "I Accept" wavier and acknowledgement language on the Affordable Care Act application website, is the statement that by completing the application, the applicant agrees to waive any right to privacy, including the privacy legally mandated involving your medical information, as required under the Health Information Protection Act (HIPA). So in order to apply (as most Americans are compelled to do), you must waive your legally protected rights........... Here is a question: If it is my legal right, how can the government force me to waive it? Doesn't this then violate the inherent definition of the word "Right"? Lots of dialogue on talk radio - the information you place on the application website is anything but secure! And if you go to sit with an ACA Navigator, they place your information on a website. And if you call
the non-functioning 800 number, they place your information on the website. And it is incredibly vulnerable to hacking and identify theft... I listened to one radio talk show host (Hugh Hewitt - an attorney) who is saying that under NO circumstances will he place his personal information on this website...That it's pretty much a guaranteed step towards total identity theft. It also depends upon a Secretary of State who actually understood "What difference did it make?", and a Secretary of Defense who was watching the feed from the

REASONS Sekulow’s group, the ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) where he is their chief counsel, has added the 5th IRS official to sue from the IRS for infringing on our rights. Through intimidation, outright lies, and obfuscation, they have brainwashed the low information people and gotten their lemmings in education to re-write history; agree to the validity of Mother Earth green policies; embrace global warming; and accept the premise that our country, our people and our history of actions is NOT exceptional so they apologize for us. This is pure, unadulterated poppycock of the first order! They have a “record” of eviscerating our military to the degree that during Jimmy Carter’s presidency (We thought no one could be worse than him as president. (We were wrong!) When nearly every helicopter, FINALLY sent to rescue our American hostages in Iran, broke down as they were not up to snuff with their cannibalized equipment. (During that era the military was short of everything and men were resigning left and right. This is happening right now as I speak…droves of resignations.) Ross Perot, a business executive who owned EDS from Texas successfully rescued his company’s people, also hostages in Iran; but our government November 2013
couldn’t. Good grief! I think the democrat president, who lost his bid for a second term, should have apologized to the country! On their “like to list” is their desire to take away our guns, any and all, although most just say that they only want to eliminate assault weaponry; clips that hold too much ammunition and whatever they can dream up at the appropriate time to confiscate; and they use unfortunate “mad” men’s actions e.g. Boston Marathon, Newtown Shootings, the Navy Yard Massacre for the excuse to confiscate as the Nazi’s and Communists did when they found their opportunity. Just a few added thoughts: • The Republican Party formed to end slavery • Although accused of wanting to starve children and old people, nothing could be further from the truth. Republicans give way more of their own personal wealth to charity than democrats ever thought of doing. They (democrats) are, on the whole) stingy givers of their own monies and about 60% of them are on the dole of the American taxpayer. • Republicans believe in offering a helping hand to allow people to have pride in themselves by being able to take care of themselves instead of receiving constant aid from the government.
They believe in school vouchers to help poorer community children to get into better schools. Democrats are against this as they want to keep the teacher unions in their hip pockets. AND if the poorer communities are less educated and beholding to them without questioning the democrats…and their motives… so much the better. • When Dwight Eisenhower (R) was president the first civil rights legislation was passed. It was the Voting Rights Act of 1957 and it was set up to eliminate discrimination at the polls. It could never have been passed without the wholesale support of the Republicans. They have never kept genuine voters from voting; but now Eric Holder and the democrat party is trying to stop Voter ID legislation in various states. They are accusing Republicans of discrimination. They say they are trying to insure that there is NO VOTER FRAUD in our elections. • A little known fact in the history of the National Rifle Association is that it was formed to help arm Black Americans so that they could protect themselves and their families; but democrats are putting the NRA in the league of bad people who want to kill others or promote guns that kill others rather than purposes of self protection and hunting. • Mario Cuomo said (I heard him and would have fallen if I had not been sitting in a chair.) that “if George The Dam Good Times
W. Bush was elected, Republicans will rape our women.” None other than Bill Clinton who we know as always, above board and truthful in his statements…as long as the definition of “is” is clear, stated…”Black churches will burn as they did when I was growing up in Arkansas,” His reminiscence was WRONG. According to records, this did not happen. Hillary, his wife in name only, gave an account of being shot at when visiting Iraq. It turned out that it never happened. Surprise! Surprise! • Recently when the parents of those killed in Benghazi came to testify in the House of Representatives, the democrats on the committee (except for two) took a break and never had the courtesy to return to listen to the bereaved parents. The witnesses realize that they were lied to from the get go by TOP officials of our government which included our president and his Secretary of State. The government has never gotten back to the parents; the democrats that did not return to hear the parents might as well have slapped them in the face; and there is no excuse for the fabricated story given these Americans who have lost their sons trying to protect others. In addition there is still the lingering question, WHO gave the orders to “stand down”? • After listening to Senator Ted Cruz for a number of hours and hearing what he had to say in his filibuster September 24-25; and then hearing the
spiteful commentary of democrat leadership in the Senate, it solidified my many objections to the democrat party. The remarks they have made about Senator Cruz showed them for what they are: arrogant, mealymouthed, fact twisting weasels. Unfortunately, there are a few RHINOS and establishment Republicans like this. Both parties have officials who have a lack of concern for their constituent’s desires e.g. NO to obamacare. The divisive behavior they had engendered; and, are still engendering within the GOP and democrat party, was created by them alone with their unjustified criticism of those trying to truly represent us and work for our interests by genuine problem solving. They do not want to give up the “limelight,” nor power they have held in the past. They are begrudgingly continuing their barrage of attacks on others, including tea party groups and Christian fundamentalists and focusing on the plight of illegal aliens, young women who need birth control pills and homosexual rights. Give us a break! This time they will not be able to hang on to their offices as easily as they have in the past. More and more people are starting to realize that they are being played with; having their freedoms taken away; and it is not the way our country should go. Frankly, they are not my kind of people nor should they be yours! Page 28

Social Media Business Block Twitter Raises Price Range for its IPO (The New York Times/Dealbook) Twitter is feeling less timid ahead of its imminent initial public offering. On Monday morning, the company said it had raised the price range for its IPO to $23 to $25, signaling the company's bullish outlook ahead of its trading debut on Thursday. Reuters The social network kept the offering size at 70 million shares. That means it will raise up to $2 billion if an overallotment option of 10.5 million shares is exercised. USA Today Twitter executives, including CEO Dick Costolo, are in the middle of an IPO roadshow, meeting prospective investors in cities including New York, Boston and Los Angeles. On Monday, they are due to meet investors in San Francisco. The Wall Street Journal/Money Beat Twitter is operating from a smaller base than Facebook, and is likely to continue operating from a smaller base. "We believe investors should assume that Twitter's penetration and user base will be materially smaller than Facebook's," Sanford Bernstein wrote. The firm sees Twitter with about 100 million active users monthly in the U.S., and 575 million overseas, by 2018. Facebook has more than 1 billion monthly active users. Bloomberg Businessweek With the company's
new valuation skyrocketing to $13.6 billion, this initial public offering has become another example of a company getting a pass on fundamentals such as earnings and quality of revenue. If you examine how Twitter shares will be priced relative to these basic financial measures, they'll be tremendously expensive, especially for retail investors. only with YouTube music stars like DeStorm and Lindsey Stirling, but headliners including Lady Gaga and Eminem. The hour-and-a-half-long show, directed by Spike Jonze, had a deliberately unscripted, unrehearsed feel - the hosts, performers and audience roamed free from stage to stage, at times literally being chased by the cameras. SLEEP WELL the breach on an old single-shot that’s been in the family for generations? Can you still smell that last oiling your old man gave it before he died? Do you remember that last hunt with your best friend or father? Can you still feel the burn from the whiskey in his flask? Can you still see the gleam in his eye? When a thousand troubles play across the ceiling of your darkened bedroom, can you replace them with the memory of the incomparable quiet felt – yes, felt – when that final rooster flushed and left you breathlessly watching him glide into the soft, autumnal dusk? If, so, sleep well, my friend. The silent flight of a rooster I saw years ago in the gloaming of a Dakota November has brought me peace on nights I might otherwise have found disquieting, and I hope that – when and if the troubles come – you too are able to draw upon a reserve of memories of fields and meadows and timbered draws and guns and dogs and whiskey and backroads and . . .
