Meet the Team at REHABILITY of Freehold ROBERT CHICKARA, DC
CRISTINA BARTHEL, PT, DPT
Dr. Robert Chickara is a chiropractic physician with over 15 years of experience and the founder of REHABILITY of Freehold. After obtaining dual degrees including a Bachelor of Science from Springfield College (MA) and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College (2001), Dr. Chickara joined forces with a team of medical doctors, physical therapists and chiropractors in a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation center in Scarsdale, NY. The invaluable experience and knowledge acquired throughout the following five years in developing a team-oriented treatment approach with the goal of providing multi-specialty rehab all in one setting, paved the way for him to establish and grow his own practice in Freehold, NJ. Robert Chickara, DC and his team of rehabilitation specialists offer a unique treatment approach where chiropractors, physical therapists and acupuncturists collaborate to optimize patient-care, while assisting them achieve their health goals. Dr. Chickara has completed extensive post-graduate training in electrodiagnostic testing, spinal traction and decompression therapies, as well as manipulation under anesthesia. He has also been recognized by New York Strength Inc. with a Master Trainer and Fitness Physician Award. REHABILITY is proud to be celebrating their 10-year Anniversary in Freehold, NJ. Dr. Chickara and his team would like to especially thank their entire loyal patient base throughout the community who continue to trust in their services year after year.
Dr. Cristina Barthel is a board certified licensed physical therapist in the State of New Jersey. She graduated from Seton Hall University in May 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science and in May 2016 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Born in London, England and raised in Manalapan, New Jersey, Dr. Barthel is the second oldest of four children to her parents, Lisa and Steven Barthel. She developed a passion for sports at a young age, beginning her athletic career on the soccer field and eventually making her way onto the basketball court as well. While attending Freehold Township High School, she was honored with the Female Athlete of the Year award. Continuing her student-athlete career at Seton Hall, Dr. Barthel was enrolled in the DPT dual-degree program while simultaneously playing a key role as a defender for the women’s soccer team. Dr. Barthel stays involved in youth sports as much as possible as a licensed soccer coach and trainer. Throughout her schooling, Dr. Barthel has had experience in a wide variety of physical therapy settings, including acute, sub-acute, pediatrics, and orthopedic outpatient rehab. She has acquired a wide array of knowledge and a diverse skill set in order to rehab musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary cases, including a certification in Kinesiotaping. Regardless of the setting, Dr. Barthel takes pride in seeing her patients grow and improve from their very first visit all the way through until their very last visit. Dr. Barthel has a strong focus on an individualized approach, working towards meeting functional goals set with her patients at the initial evaluation and educating her patients along the way.
He states with gratitude, “There is no better compliment we receive than the referrals of family, friends and co-workers, which have allowed us the privilege to continue to grow as a practice.”
She says, “It is extremely rewarding to see patients improve and recover with physical therapy. I am inspired by them every day.”
