Health & Wellness

The Hansen Foundation Written by Lisa Whitley, PMP – Executive Director There is no shortage of stories when it comes to the challenges of a person in the throes of addiction. While hitting rock bottom often serves as a familiar turning point, the story is far from over, and the road to recovery remains a difficult one. Physical struggles are compounded by emotional ones, and without the right resources and support systems in place, the chance for a full recovery often remains out of reach. In this, the first of a six-part series, we will share the valuable work of The Hansen Foundation (a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for those recovering from addiction), and the commitment to our mission: To Transform Humanity, One Person at a Time, One Day at a Time. It is what we do in our work every day: helping people learn how to LIVE after enduring the depths of addiction. Under the direction of President and Founder Jennifer Hansen, The Hansen Foundation provides affordable, long-term safe recovery residences called Serenity Estates and Serenity Houses. We provide life-skill training and holistic health and wellness workshops to individuals through our recovery support programs at our Enlightened Farm, Enlightened Café, and the Hansen Foundation Resource Center, as well as access to treatment through our partnerships with Enlightened Solutions Detox and Enlightened Solutions. RECOVERY RESIDENCES Detox, treatment, or primary care alone are not enough for long-term recovery success. The Hansen Foundation Residences, Serenity Estates and Serenity Houses, provide an affordable, long-term, home-like atmosphere and necessary recovery support. Whether a person needs legal guidance, help regaining a driver’s license, guidance concerning child custody, or simply learning how to do laundry, food shop, cook and clean – we help people put their lives back together. ENLIGHTENED FARM As a non-profit farm cultivating a sustainable and healing environment for all, our roots run deep within the recovery community. We work to nourish people through horticulture and employment programs… bringing together those affected by substance-use addiction in a setting focusing on holistic wellness.

ENLIGHTENED CAFÉ Rooted in a health mindset, Enlightened Café brings the recovery community together through good food, good music, and good vibes. The Enlightened Café nourishes the community by offering a locally grown organic menu as well as live music, poetry, and events. The Café’s robust organic menu is created from locally sourced vendors, including organic produce from the Enlightened Farm. THE HANSEN FOUNDATION RESOURCE CENTER The Hansen Foundation Resource Center is a safe, welcoming environment that allows clients to access a variety of programs to help individuals in recovery plan, create, invent, improve life skills, and make things happen in their lives. The programs range from family support groups, community yoga and meditation classes, peer-to-peer recovery support services, 12-step meetings, and allrecovery programs to various other holistic and community-based programs.
