Meet The Team Darlene Thurber, RN, BSA, CALA, LNHA Executive Director and Administrator Darlene has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including critical care and communitybased nursing. She obtained her LNHA license and over the years has served as director of nursing, executive director, and nursing home administrator in senior care communities. However, she admits that her passion is working in hospice care.

Denise Raymond, RN Director of Nursing Recently promoted to director of nursing, Denise came to Journey with 27 years of healthcare experience in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland Counties. She began her career in social work, and then continued her education to become a registered nurse. She served for nearly 18 years working in assisted living and in admissions and marketing.

Kara Brown On-call Nurse Kara joined the Journey Hospice team in 2019 as an on-call nurse. Prior to joining the hospice team, she worked several years in the emergency department and surgical services. Her primary focus is assisting patients and families in any after-hour needs.

Carol Hutchison Spiritual Care Coordinator and Bereavement Care Coordinator A pastor in the United Methodist Church, Carol has over 40 years of experience in healthcare. She works with clients to understand their personal spiritual beliefs, what brings them peace, and what they hold onto during difficult times. Carol believes hospice allows individuals to live their lives fully. “Life should begin and end with dignity, compassion and comfort.”

Donna Bingenheimer, BSN, RN, LMT, CCAP Case Manager and Licensed Massage Therapist As a registered nurse for 38 years now, Donna has dedicated her focus to incorporating complementary and alternative medicine modalities into the care of her patients at Journey Hospice. She has integrated holistic nursing such as therapeutic touch, aromatherapy, and massage into her patients’ plan of care, creating positive effects.
