Timeline: 10/05/2016: An email was sent from Fred C. Behr to St. Olaf faculty, staff, and students about a hate crime committed on September 4th in Mohn Hall where the “n” word was written.

11/04/2016: An email was sent from Emma Lind and Sarah Bresnahan (former SGA president and vice president) addressing the acts of racism found within the St. Olaf community.
12/02/2016: Messages were found on a whiteboard containing the politically affiliated and racist slogans of â€œBuild the Wall! Deport the Illegals! Trump won.â€?
02/08/2017: An email was sent from Dean Roz informing the community that a professor had arrived at a lab that morning to find a message containing the n-word written on a board.
02/09/2017: Another email from Dean Eaton informed students that “No n-word” was written and left on a door of the Regents Hall of Mathematical Sciences.
03/09/2017: The n-word was found written on a wall in a study room in Rolvaag Memorial Library. 03/10/2017: Another email from Dean Roz informed students about the incident in the Rolvaag Memorial Library. She further explained the “no tolerance of threatening behavior at St. Olaf”.
03/22/2017: President Anderson sends an email to the student body concerning post-election environment on campus.
03/23/2017: Fox News publishes “Conservative students at Lutheran college say they fear for personal safety” http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/03/23/conservative-students-at-lutheran-college-say-fear-for-personalsafety-some-leave-remain-silent.html 04/20/2017: A student found papers left in several student study rooms in Rolvaag Memorial Library; the papers contained the n-word and “additional vile commentary. An email from Dean Roz informed the students about the incident.
04/21/2017: President David Anderson emailed the student body. In his first response in over six months, addressing this sequence of racist acts, the President stated that this act of racism was most likely “...the work of one or a small number of people. (It may not even be an Ole).”
04/23/2017: A black student came back from walking his dog to find a handwritten note with the n-word on his car windshield. The note was left between 11:20 pm and midnight at an on-campus honor house parking lot.
04/24/2017: Dean Eaton sent out an email stating that the college will, â€œcontinue to work to identify the person(s) perpetrating these hateful and intolerable acts.â€? Students protest with signs on the doors and windows of Buntrock Common. Students of color gather in The Link of the Center of Art and Dance. The creation of The Collective for Change on the Hill occurs.
