Church News No 43 - May 2010

Evangelism at the Sundial

After Evangelism - Taken by Sister Natalie from London For the past month or so Pastor Grayson and Sister Fiona (centre back) have driven from Bristol to Plymouth, on a Saturday morning, and met with Sister Diana for an hour’s evangelism at the Sundial, On 8th May other brothers and sisters from Bristol and London who were spending a weekend in Devon were able to join them. A good time was had by all as Pastor Grayson preached, many leaflets were distributed and several members of the team were able to witness and share the gospel with interested shoppers. It was a little windy especially for those who had forgotten their coats but they quickly warmed up once they stepped inside the Chinese Restaurant where they had lunch together.

Peace - Love - Joy The long journey from London to Devon alone helped us to trust in the Lord more than ever. Navigating the dark winding country roads with no sat nav and only the stars to guide us was rather un-settling - especially for my wife - so we sang praises to the Lord most of the way. When my wife began to speak in tongues our son Matthias joined her with "Praise the Lord!" But at Challborough Bay we found much peace away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living: No mobiles and No trains to run and catch. We eventually arrived at the caravan park at around midnight to find readymade beds which unbeknown to us Pastor and Sister Jacqueline had prepared for us. This was just another example of the importance of serving one another in love. Then we experienced more love from Pastor Bruce early Saturday morning. During evangelism and fellowship in Plymouth I bore witness to Pastor Francis speaking in love to a brother who received a leaflet but was in disagreement. For me the whole weekend experience was full of Joy: Joy from knowing the Lord’s desire to do a mighty work in me as He is grooming me. (He blessed me with the great honour of leading the Sunday meeting in praise & worship); visiting such a beautiful part of the country with our brothers and sisters; celebrating life with Sister Shirley’s birthday and enjoying a wet but fun filled walk along the beach. I thank the Lord for the opportunity that we had to go and experience a new way and a new day in the unity and bond of Peace in Jesus name. It wasn’t too late! Sister Samantha had been inviting me to attend church. She had recently been baptized herself and was very keen for me to go with her. That week l felt as though l needed to go but on my own, without any distraction. So l spoke to my husband and although he was put out, he said it was fine and he would stay at home with the boys. On Tuesday my Aunt called me and encouraged me saying that my brother, sister and I were yet to reach our full potential in Christ. Again l was determined l had to go to church but when Saturday night came I still hadn't called Sister Samantha to make arrangements. That night as l lay in bed l had a dream. l was on the floor, kneeling, and Sister Samantha was there. A voice told me to ask her about church. I answered that it was too late to arrange anything". But in my mind l saw someone lean down and say “It’s not too late.” As I awoke from my sleep I heard these words resonating in my ears. I laid there going over it in my mind but still deciding for myself, it was too late! Then l said to myself “Michelle how long are you going to ignore The Lord’s calling?” So l got up and called Sister Samantha and came to church. When l heard Pastor Francis preaching the Gospel, about being born again, with such clarity, l then knew that was why l was there. Amen Sister Michelle Sister Samantha and Sister Michelle after her baptism in London

Michelle and her family live in Valencia where she works as an English teacher. They have just returned to UK for a holiday. Michelle was baptised later that day with her husband and other family members present. It was evident to those around the pool that Holy Spirit came upon her with power following her baptism in water.

Holyland Ministries We were recently blessed with a short visit from Sister Tanya (in both pictures on the left) from Israel. She shared about the continuing work in South Tel Aviv/Jaffa and Ashkelon and the difficulties believers experience in Israel. They prepare a substantial meal for the poor and needy every Shabbat and are able to take some of them into rented accommodation in order to help them get their lives back together again and hopefully get them saved and filled with Holy Spirit. The work was started many years ago when Sister Tanya was at Bible College. She came out of a restaurant having spent a considerable amount on a meal and noticed those who were begging for food on the streets. She was determined to do something about it and started preparing food for the hungry instead of eating out. Others joined her and the work has continued for many years. Pastor Francis and Sister Jacqueline first met Tanya in Israel in 1999 when the Lord gave her an encouraging prophecy about the work. They have recently moved their “shelter” to the Negev desert and hope to soon be in a position where they can buy a piece of land on which the homeless people can work by growing peppers and other foods which thrive in that climate. Tanya is planning to return to UK in the summer and we hope she will then stay longer so that others can fellowship with her. Please let us know if you would like to be on their mailing list. Sister Jacqueline, Bristol

The pool lights were turned off but the angels in heaven saw and were rejoicing as another sinner was saved from hell fire and eternal damnation. Luke 15v10 Romans 6v3&4 As soon as Brother Emmanuel shared the gospel with Sister Judith and explained the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch, Sister Judith knew she had to be baptised that day. We thank God for the co-operation of staff at the Kingswood Leisure Centre, as they have a very relaxed attitude towards us going there for baptisms and even though some of them were packing up and going home at around 10 pm that night, they didn’t mind us going in and getting Sister Judith baptised. As there was no-one else around, the brothers were able to pray for her to be baptised with Holy Spirit at the poolside and she spoke in tongues. Sister Judith is very serious about the things of God and wants to make sure she does everything the right way according to the Word. She went home rejoicing. An Angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went. And behold a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth. In His humiliation His justice was taken away, and who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.” So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” Then Philip opened his mouth and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Now as they went down the road they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptised?” Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may,” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” So he commanded the chariot to stand still and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and be baptized him. Miracle of Life God is so good and we are so blessed. It has been a long journey and we wanted you all to share it: It started with our wonderful marriage in 2004. We knew we wanted to be blessed with children and knew that was the Lord’s intention for marriage. We gave it to the Lord and time went by but after 12 months I had not conceived. I was told by doctors as I have polycystic ovaries I may find it difficult to get pregnant so we constantly prayed. After a year we decided to go to our local fertility clinic and have further tests, when my condition was confirmed. As time went on we grew stronger, held each other when Brother Chris & Sister Charlotte, times were hard and prayed in earnest that God would Plymouth give us a miracle. We tried several treatments which all failed sadly and we thank the Lord for always being there as at these times. It was painful seeing children around us and not being able to have the most amazing thing of all - a new life. After 5 years of different treatments we were given the opportunity of IVF on the NHS. This alone was a miracle as I lost 2 ½ stone to get this as the criteria was so tight - certain weight, age, etc. Well thank the Lord we got it and it was due to start on the 31/12/2009. As I am sure you have heard, IVF is a gruelling schedule and for me it consisted of turning off my ovaries which meant going through a mini menopause. After that we started daily injections of hormones to make eggs grow and grow they did. By day 9 we had at least 7 egg follicles and by egg collection we had 11. We were so blessed. On egg collection day we both prayed that God’s will be done and he would guide us through our journey. By the end of the egg collection they retrieved 12 eggs out of 12 follicles. What a miracle! Praise God! On the next day we were told out of 12 eggs - 7 fertilized which was excellent news and the next day -14/01/2010 - they were putting 2 embryos back in and we were blessed to be able to freeze 3 as well!!! We then had to wait 16 days and we prayed every day, read the Word and looked to the Lord for support. 2 days before I was allowed to do the test I felt different and I had not had a bleed. The morning of the 29/01/2010 came and at 06:30 am I did the test. We were both shaking and the test turned positive immediately. We could not believe it. I had never been pregnant before. We praised God for this miracle. Well we are now over 20 weeks, we have had several scans and all is well. I know this is the Lord’s doing as we had many dreams and prophecies that God will grant our desires but in His time. This is one of our first photos of Master Elliott Cyrus Jack. God willing, you will meet him in October. Thank God for Jesus! Amen! Brother Chris and Sister Charlotte, Plymouth We belong to the church which our Lord Jesus Christ started over 2000 years ago. We meet in homes and in public places and do not belong to any denomination. For further information contact Pastor Francis on 07903828150
