DanceFit tries to make New Year’s fitness plans fun by Elizabeth Coady
t's 2018! Time to make your New Year's fitness resolution! Diet! Exercise! Weight Loss! Which inevitably turns into… Cliche! Tedium! Chore! But 25-year-old Bria Moss-Wilkerson has another way: dancing your way to fitness. The Temple grad and newcomer to Chestnut Hill just opened “DanceFit Chestnut Hill,” a boutique fitness studio at 98 Bethlehem Pike. “Our motto is 'Disguise your exercise,’” the recording artistturned-entrepreneur said in a telephone interview. “It's not like we're in here trying to become body builders. The fun is just as important at the fitness. We laugh at each other, we laugh at ourselves.” The dance studio joins Chestnut Hill Cycle Fitness and Tara Yoga along a stretch of Bethlehem Pike that Moss-Wilkerson has coined as Chestnut Hill's “Wellness Way.'' Owners of both businesses have been kind and supportive “It's been so great,'' she said. ''It's so nice to have so many welcoming people.'' Acupuncture: Ancient medicine for modern times by Elise Rivers, Esq., M.Ac.Community Acupuncture of Mt. Airy (CAMA)
ince the discovery of acupuncture thousands of years ago, the knowledge that the body could be healed by such surprising means has had a profound, world-wide impact on many generations of patients seeking healing. Acupuncture improves immunity and blood flow, eliminates or aids pain, balances hormones and emotions, strengthens organ function and induces deep relaxation. This more balanced state enables the body to better manage the damaging impact of stress. In fact, strengthening and balancing all the body’s systems to prevent or treat disease is the function of acupuncture, and no other medicine in the world achieves the same results for so many conditions. Community Acupuncture of Mt. Airy has the mission of bringing affordable acupuncture and other wellness services, such as bodywork, holistic nutrition counseling, naturopathy and herbal medicine to anyone seeking a safer alterna-
tive to medications that have the potential for deleterious side effects, but are still widely used and the only treatments considered. We believe the environment counts, so our space is welcoming and beautiful. All of our staff are professionally trained and are dedicated to sharing the benefits of holistic medicine. To see a list published by the World Health Organization of the many diseases and disorders that can be effectively treated with acupuncture, including digestive disorders, pain of all kinds, side effects of chemotherapy, asthma and allergies google “WHO list acupuncture.” In our 13 years serving the community, we’ve also witnessed wonderful changes in patients’ experience of anxiety. We seek to exceed your expectations about what health care can be! As one patient passionately expressed: The synergistic effect created by the restful environment and beautiful music, combined with the power of acupuncture and the genuine warmth and caring I receive, makes CAMA my go-to place for healing and restoration.
