SPENCER If appointed as treasurer, it is my intention to develop and implement specific policies and programs that will enhance the performance and efficiency of the Guild of Students. Union

Committee Chairperson because I am a hardworking, focused and determined student that has the skill set to manage and maintain the physical facilities of the Students Union. If I am elected as Union Committee Chairperson there are several changes/improvements I would like to make. The Student’s Union has recently lost the ‘magic’ it used to have. This is due to the lack of social activity within the union and poor management of the guild bar. To try and combat this I aim to introduce a series of activities as well as effective and efficient management over the Guild Bar to maximize interest and participation from the Student body. Secondly, I want to bring back the life of the Student Union. It was known not only as a place where you kept beer limes and fetes but as a place where students could come for cultural experiences, relax and unwind after or during a stressful day of classes. You can “slam-a-dom”, shoot pool, tune into cable TV, play games or just take part in some interesting debates.

Let us not be guided by popularity, let the power of reason point you in the directing of results. As the candidate for the Union Committee Chairperson I have a vision of reinvigorating the culture of the guild; to bring about an experience which is reminiscent of the good times experienced at university outside of the rigors of study. You, the student body needs a UCC that is committed, reliable, passionate about the governance and representation and welfare of the students. As UCC I will: 1. Create part time jobs for students who may need the extra money. 2. Provide Televisions, cable TV, new seating and a working pool table for the entertainment of the students. 3. Place the flags of all the Caribbean countries at the university on the ceiling of the guild to embrace the integration culture. 4. Make sure that I am available at all times to help all of the island associations with their week of activities to provide advise and the 19

I will facilitate this process by providing coffee, energy drinks, chairs and desks, and extra plugs for the use of computers. 6. Guarantee that the guild will be open for the selling of drinks and special incentives on a weekly basis. This will happen with the playing of music and television programming to encourage all students of all nationalities to come in the guild to have a good time after a strenuous day. 7. Advocate for the purchasing assets that would support the island association weeks. E.g. Tents, ice boxes, tables and chairs among other things.
