Mephibosheth in

Covenant (Part 2)

Pastor Nkechi Ene (Mrs.) 1 Now when he had 9inished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. 1 Samuel 18:1-4 12 Then Jonathan said to David: “The Lord God of Israel is witness! When I have sounded out my father sometime tomorrow, or the third day, and indeed there is good toward David, and I do not send to you and tell you, 13 may the Lord do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do you evil, then I will report it to you and send you away, that you may go in safety. And the Lord be with you as He has been with my father. 14 And you shall not only show me the kindness of the Lord while I still live, that I may not die; 15 but you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever, no, not when the Lord has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.” 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “Let the Lord require it at the hand of David’s enemies.” 17 Now Jonathan again caused David to vow, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul. 1 Samuel 20:12-17

In the previous article, I pointed out that you should recognize that you are in covenant with God Almighty and not just with anyone. I also said that when you are in covenant with God, the covenant will bring you out of Lo Debar, and it will give you direct access to the King. In this article, I will continue from where we stopped. Remember we were looking at access to the king, as a bene9it of being in covenant relationship with God. We will also look at one more bene9it of being in a covenant relationship with God.

The Covenant Will Give You Access To The King (Continued) We left off where we were saying that the One who you are in covenant with which is God, is the One who knows everybody that

matters and your covenant with Him has given you the greatest access of all. Another example of access to the king could be found in the story of Queen Esther and King Ahasuerus (Esther 4:11, 5:1-3). When Queen Esther had to approach the king, she was told that going to see the king without the king’s invitation could lead to her death. She asked the people to go and pray for her, and she went in anyway. The Bible says that as she approached the king, she obtained favour in the sight of the king and the same king who had made the law that nobody dares enter his presence without prior invitation, stretched out the golden sceptre, thereby giving her access. Not only did the king give her access which is contrary to the norm, he also promised to grant all her requests up to half of his kingdom. As a child of God, the hand of God is permanently out-stretched towards you. It is neither stretched with a brass sceptre, an iron sceptre, nor a wooden sceptre but a golden sceptre because it's the best. He wants you to touch the sceptre and get the best and when you touch it, you touch abundance; you touch the very best of God. Your children are a heritage from the Lord and just like Queen Esther did, go in boldly and take what your covenant has made available. The Bible says in 2 Samuel 9:11 that the king said Mephibosheth would sit at his table continually. Mephibosheth sitting at the king’s table continually means that Mephibosheth would be eating the very best food in the land. It does not matter what level you are now, just continue to touch the golden sceptre and from whatever level you are now, you will progress. The abundance that God has already given to you as a child of God will become a reality in your life as long as you continue to touch the golden sceptre, you will become a mother of many adorable children. Another thing that access to the king gives you is dinner conversations. In dinner conversations, you talk to the king and the king also talks to you. More opportunities and testimonies are birthed. For example, when in fellowship you may say, “ I don’t know what my life would have been without your love Jesus,” and He says to you, “My child, it's my Word that you speak from your mouth that I will do for you. Just keep speaking my Word and when I hear my Word I must perform it.” As dinner conversations are going on, you move from one level of increase to the next and your relationship with God becomes better. That is what happens in the presence of the king. Coming into the king's presence is not just coming in to take. You eat but you talk and
