L A Office Veterans Club By: Bill Gallaway he “L A Office”, previously known as The Pour House, located at 243 Hwy. 28 bypass in Anderson, SC is a private members club. The club, owned by three Marines, has gone through a transformation and is now known as a Veteran’s Club. To become a member, you must be a Veteran of the United States armed service or love a veteran of our armed services. Membership is open to all non-Veterans for $5.00 annually. All U.S. Veterans are welcome regardless of discharge, as this is a Veteran’s club for Veterans, owned by Veterans. Also welcomed are all Heroes in uniform, first responders, police, fire, EMS and active duty. The club is open daily Mon.-Sat. 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. Happy Hours are 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Come in for a drink special and enjoy free snacks all day, and if you are hungry, come in for the free lunch which is served daily.

When I interviewed Don Slater, one of the owners, I was made aware of the various ways in which he supports the surrounding community and children as well as the veterans. All proceeds from the club go to veteran’s charities and into a humanitarian fund which is used in emergencies. Think of it as a Kitty where all the owners must vote as to how and when the benefit fund is dispersed. The bottom line is to take care of those that take care of us while helping those less fortunate. There are many ways to enjoy your club. Come by to horse around in the private back yard by the Tiki hut and play horseshoes and corn hole, or come on inside and enjoy a cold beverage while you shoot pool, watch one or more of the 6 TVs or dance. Don’t forget, birthdays are also a big event at the club. Every month, the members that celebrate their birthdays during the month have a party with free food. And speaking of partying, the House Band might be able to get you up on the dance floor. If you haven’t been by, do stop in. I’m sure you will enjoy your time at The Office. One more thing, there is an enormous parking lot and plenty of room for bikes so it’s also a great stop for your next poker run or cruise in type event.
