Smokin’ Harley-Davidson Demo Days By: Caroline Demo Days, one of the most popular events, was back at Smokin’ Harley-Davidson on April 12-13. That is the time when folks can actually come out and test ride any or all of the new 2014 bikes that are at the dealership - and there are plenty to choose from! This event consists of a 12 mile test ride through back roads and main highways so that you can get a good idea of what you can expect from that special bike you might have had your eye on. Or, if you can’t make up your mind then you can test ride as many as you want. Another feature that I thought was special, was the Jump Start Bike was set up outside for folks that are not currently riders. That is a real Harley-Davidson motorcycle that is set up so that a non-rider can be in a stationary position. It allows a person to sit on the bike while it is running and know what it is like to manage the gears and controls without moving. It really gives them a good preliminary idea
of what riding a motorcycle is about. It appeared that the whole event was a great success. There were vendors set up all around the dealership, giving it a festive atmosphere. The Winston-Salem HOG Chapter was on hand to lend their support by providing road captains and selling some good food. I talked to one fellow who had just come from one of the demo rides. He told me that although he has been riding motorcycles for many years, this was the first Harley he had ever ridden and he was impressed! I have to say that statement was a perfect example of what Smokin’ hoped to accomplish and it looks like they have found a new potential customer.
