Social Care Workers Deserve Pay Parity with NHS Counterparts... Sector Charity Argues
A national social care charity is calling for a fundamental overhaul of pay structures in the sector, warning that a wage gap of around £7,000 per year between community care workers and their NHS equivalents is driving experienced staff out of the profession and placing an unsustainable burden on providers. Community Integrated Care, a Widnes-based charity operating hundreds of services across England for adults with learning disabilities, mental health condi-
tions and complex needs, has renewed its call for social care support workers to receive remuneration comparable to those in equivalent NHS roles. The organisation says the disparity — estimated at approximately £7,000 annually — is both unjust and damaging to a workforce it describes as highly skilled and professionally demanding.
