editor’s note What a summer. Here in Australia, our summer holidays start before Christmas and continue just after we have celebrated Australia Day on January 26, the climax of two months of long days in the sun and easy nights leaning into the evening breeze, eating Frosty Fruits and talking, because there is no good television in summer anyway. Just another bonus in my book! The Sunshine Coast does not disappoint in summer, let me tell you. Before Christmas my son and I enrolled in surf lessons, which was a game changer. Trips to the beach just got real.

In light of the positively dreamy summer my little family has enjoyed, I have given you the best possible depiction of summery goodness in the form of our front cover. Is that bouquet not positively toothsome?! Tiffany’s Flowers, you have outdone yourself. The big news of this summer is that our beautiful Joelle is now a bonafide Mrs! Congratulations beautiful lady! And another congratulations is in order – to you, dear brides-to-be, who have just joined our ranks after getting engaged over the holiday season. I hope we inspire you with all of our wedding pretty in this, our Summer 2015 and 12th edition.

Dangerously alluring, our Sirens will enchant you in their bridal couture from Sunshine Coast local designers. Fall in lust with this fashion shoot on location at Shelly Beach, Caloundra.

Lauren wears the “Poppy gown from Erin Clare Couture, which features a fragile cap sleeve and bodice created out of a delicate beaded lace. The skirt has layers of dove silk chiffon over ivory satin, seen here with the removable tulle overlay.

Textured posy with cream and pastel blooms, cupped in dusty miller leaves, paying homage to the natural elements of sand, sea, and rocks.

Floral anklets inspired by the natural colour palette found by the beach. These robust designs are divine, created by Magnolia Grove.

Natural Beauty

Brooke wears “Meagan, made from layers of silke tulle and lace, drawn in at the waist with a silk tulle sash, sweetly understated; perfect for a beach wedding. Designed by Erin Clare Couture.

Kirra wears “Angelina, a beautifully corded lace gown with a plunging v-neck front and back. The soft tulle over the lace fitted skirt soften the silhouette, while the blush lining enhances the lace detail. Gown by Erin Clare Couture

Elegant Beauty

Lauren wears a white mesh and guipure lace boho gown by Judy Copley Bridal. This gown is perfect for the bride who loves the short-but-long versatile design.

Brooke wears a two-piece gown by Judy Copley Bridal made from guipure lace and ivory satin. Striking beach wedding fashion.

Kirra wears a Judy Copley Bridal gown with Indian embellishments, making a big impact with a hint of the exotic. Bling at the beach is a winner every time.

“The flowers had to be bright and colourful in line with the Mexican theme. I wanted a clean neutral palate, which Tiffany’s does beautifully, with bright splashes of colour.”

“We didn’t want to have too many formal proceedings on the day, however my cousin got his Marriage Celebrant license in the lead up to the wedding in order to marry us. It was an incredibly generous and amazing thing for him to do. It was so wonderful.”

“The Maid of Honour read a poem in the ceremony while the Matron of Honour and Best Man placed the Spanish wedding lasso around our shoulders.

“The day genuinely felt special and full of joy. It was pure happiness, no drama or issues just bliss; I don’t think you get many days like that in your life. It sounds cliché, but it was magical.”

“Originally we wanted to have a destination wedding in Mexico, however due to cost constraints it wasn’t feasible to have the whole family go to Mexico. But we decided that wherever we got married we would incorporate certain flavours and touches that reminded us of our Spanish heritage, and our experiences there.”

TRALIAN BUSH Off the beaten track in the little Sunshine Coast town of Yandina the world is forgotten and only rustic elegance and seclusion remain. Our wedding inspiration styled shoot takes place at The Rocks with styling by First Class Functions. Photography by Simon J Coulson.

Overlooking the Maroochy River, a ceremony with a true sense of occasion takes place on the decking. Australian native flowers adorn the aisle chairs and small arrangements in jars sit atop cut logs. The aisle leads to the spectacular floral arbour, set to frame the couple as they say their vows.

An outdoor reception calls for rustic elegance with earthy tones and surprising pops of colour in the planter box of flowers. The crystal glassware is offset by the hessian runner and natural linens.

Deep browns define Cassie’s beautiful green eyes, and keeping with the warmth, a red-brown lip finishes the look by Bel Viso Makeup. Cassie’s blonde tresses flow in full bouncy curls, styled by Rolling Scissors.

The natural landscape at The Rocks provides so much inspiration in itself, set amongst the Australian Bush with vast open spaces in one direction, complete with impressively large trees, giving that untouched feeling. In the other direction, the serene Maroochy River, and plenty of country charm in between.

“We didn’t initially have a theme in mind, but it evolved into a kind of carnival theme; wedding cake for afternoon tea, watermelon stand, games on the grass, marquee setting, photo-booth, live 5-piece band.

“We wanted our wedding day to suit us, not the traditional ideal. Specifically, we wanted a day that could start early and finish late so that we could squeeze the most out of the day. Item number one on the agenda was a venue that could accommodate this as well as the extensive guest list we had planned.
