The British Museum Stevenson Lecture Theatre Monday 6 October 2014 9am for 10am start Half-day symposium, book launch, exhibition and VIP tour on the theme of drawing and literacy, hosted by Studio International, The University of the Arts London, The Campaign for Drawing and The Big Draw, and the British Museum Department of Prints and Drawings. Join us to: ● Celebrate the launch of The Drawn Word: ‘Even if I write my name I am drawing’, edited by Janet McKenzie and Stephen Farthing. Published by Studio International ● Explore the fabulous resource available in the British Museum Department of Prints and Drawings Study Room ● Champion the importance of drawing and visual literacy across the creative industries – contribute to the debate and widen perceptions of what 'drawing' means page 1 of 2

VIP tour of Witches and wicked bodies by exhibition co-curator, artist and writer Deanna Petherbridge This exhibition examines the portrayal of witches and witchcraft in art, from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, featuring prints and drawings by artists including Dürer, Goya, Delacroix, Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, alongside classical Greek vessels and Renaissance maiolica. PLUS a display of word and image drawings in the Study Room.
