THE FOOD ISSUE

IF YOU WANT TO GET FUNKY: REBEL HOUSE

Magic dust in their food or not, this place is funky and exactly what the doctor ordered. The vibe is chill, the furniture mismatched, and there’s art covering almost every inch of the walls, so it’s a perfect spot to get lost for a few hours as you delve into their intense menu and some rebelious conversation. Their “Wake and Bake” brunch is super popular (can’t imagine why) and their menu is the perfect combination of weird and wonderful. A great idea is to start with their tasty libations so you can peruse the menu whilst wetting your palate, so order their sangria by the carafe ($12), “all you can handle” mimosas ($15), “Dirty South” bloody mary ($14, or stacked with meat and cheese for $22), or Kombulicious Kombucha ($5). Speaking of meat and cheese, they cure their meats and bacon in house, so it’d be rude not to start with their meat and cheese platter, aka Chef’s Last Meal, ($14/$26) or their hot charcuterie, with housesmoked bacon selections, seasonal sausage, mustard, pickles, bacon jam and charred bread ($16). Now that the stomach growls have subsided, move along to the classic (and incredibly popular) eggs benedict with house-made Canadian bacon, English muffin, poached eggs, hollandaise and two-potato hash ($15) or go rogue with their Rebel burger ($16) that you can even top with foie gras ($13) if you’re feeling fancy. Honestly, you could order everything off of the menu (good thing you came prepared), like their ricotta doughnuts ($13), Mongolian Brussels sprouts ($13), or the addictive Smoking Hash Phatty Burrito ($16). Yes, you will need a nap afterward, and yes, it’ll be worth it. 297 E. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33432 (561) 353-5888 www.lifetastesbetter.com
