Kids’ Dramatix ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Kids’ Dramatix (dra-MAT-ix) is a Waldorf-inspired Elementary Education Theatre Arts program based in Fayetteville, NC. We infuse core curriculum concepts and creative dramatics to make learning meaningful and fun! Our focus is in the PROCESS. We nurture young creative minds, develop self-confidence and promote assertiveness, creative problem solving, positive self-expression, and teamwork. RESIDENCY: “FROM THE PAGE TO THE STAGE (K-5) The ultimate exercise in critical thinking application is wrapped up right in this program! The participants will collaborate to create an original production adapted from a story. Throughout the residency, the participants will experience the process of sculpting a staged performance piece from a literal text- collectively interpreted be development, staging, plot analysis, story structure, and elements of technical theatre. Each residency consists of 10 sessions 2 hours in length. (It is recommended to schedule 2 sessions per week for 5 weeks.) WORKSHOPS: “CREATIVE DRAMATICS, A STORY, AND YOU!” (K-5) Students actively engage in drama games and experiment with improvisation. With concepts and skills developed from creative/ kinesthetic brainstorming the participants will apply these techniques as they analyze and interpret a piece of literature. Throughout the process, the participants will explore the endless options of their interpretive performance and set out to discover how IMAGINATION is the limit! Students will experiment with acting styles, character development, elements of technical theatre, and their personal role in shaping a collaborative (informal) production.
