Storytelling and cartoons Potenza, Italy

Digital storytelling vs. non-digital Six-Piece Story Making What: workshop during longer training courses for social helpers, youth workers When: 18-26.07.2015 and 10-13.11.2015 How: based on the experiences, learning, process, approach gained during the training course and inspiration gained at IKTE open day Why: My aim was to test if and how I could corporate the experiences into my work with other helping professionals Where: The pilot actions took part in Hungary with a Hungarian team, colleagues but with international groups Name and contact of the person/organisation doing it: Kriszta Zsiday, zsidaykriszta@gmail.com / IKTE http://www.ikte.hu Target group: trainers, social workers, youth workers, and volunteers

Description of the activity and results During the course in Italy there was a smaller part focusing on storytelling (key elements, line of the story, what makes it interesting, etc.) I observed there that all participants were eager to create a story furthermore the personal elements in the stories had a great role in the joy and excitement of creating them. They were unfolding no matter what was the general interest or personality of the creator. In IKTE we use storytelling sometimes but in a rather open, free flowing way – so this time I wanted to try out how I can take on board the more structured way of it. Seeing if giving a frame, key elements (what should be there) is supporting or blocking the participants in dealing with their personal issues in a group setting. Additionally I am also intended to focus on visual storytelling.
