The goal is not to copy the model but to train your mind to “see” by understanding the building blocks of the human figure. MONDAY YOUTH CLASSES Painting Like the Masters

Samantha Younis September 9 - November 18 (No class Sept. 30) Monday 4pm-5:30pm 10 weeks $205/225 FY334 Each week, students will learn about a famous master artist with a brief art history lesson. While studying different techniques, mediums and styles, students will then be encouraged to interpret the style of the master artist of the week and create a masterpiece of their own. Acrylics, watercolors, drawing, painting, landscape, still life, pointillism, abstract art, color, perspective, mixed media and art history will be explored. Ages 8-12.

Hands On

Ruti Modlin September 9 - November 18 (No class Sept. 30) Monday 4:30pm-6:30pm 10 weeks $255/275 FY323 In this class, budding young artists will develop their artistic drawing and painting skills and get confident about their self expression. Students will be introduced to materials such as collage, acrylic paint, monotype print, charcoal, pastels and watercolors in a playful atmosphere. All materials provided. Ages 9-13.

This class is for teens with at least one year of clay experience. Students will further explore wheel throwing and hand-building techniques, and learn to incorporate different glaze techniques. Learn complex forms such as lidded jars, teapots, multiple section pieces and explore decals, printing, and masking.

OUR MISSION

The Grace Cole Scholarship Fund

Honors the late Grace Cole, an artist and former teacher at The Art Center Highland Park (TAC HP) as well as a friend and mentor to the underwriters; Joan and Mike Moriarty. The Grace Cole Scholarship fund is ongoing A presence on the Chicago art scene for over 30 years Grace never settled for one technique or subject matter. Her works are in art collections around the world, a portfolio of her work is available online at gracecole.com.

Student Scholarship Fund

Need and merit based scholarships are available through donations. Need-based scholarships are granted to those who would not ordinarily be able to afford participating in art enrichment courses. Students attending courses at TAC who have shown extraordinary talent, workmanship, and citizenship earn merit scholarships.

Jackie Sabath Exhibition Fund

Jackie Sabath was an established artist on the North Shore. Her powerful piece exhibited in the Voices & Visions, Standing on the Bridge Between Health and Disease 2016, exemplifies her spirit and strength to persevere throughout her life. The Jackie Sabath Exhibition Fund has been createdto carry on her legacy by helping TAC’s future exhibitions,social awareness, and educational outreach.

Adrienne Arronson & Ann Rosen Scholarship Fund

TAC HP honors them both for the work they’ve done to deliver on our promise to ‘Make Art Available to All’ with this scholarship in their name. Ann Rosen as the first Executive Director of the then Suburban Fine Arts Center. Adrienne Aaronson on the Board of Directors for many years. Together they created and implemented the Recycled Art Sale which just celebrate the 30th Anniversary.
