The Helper is the second literary work of mine that is extremely short, along with ‘Ommi, mejta?’, these two works are dedicated to two people who have helped me in life and I thank them for helping me get up on my feet, even though they are not in this world anymore… - Brendon Thearle

Oh, what a terrible thing. I can’t believe it. The last breath of yours, taken away from me. My helper, my wonderful little helper. From the day I was born to the unfortunate news, you had always been there for me. Being there for me when I needed you the most, taking care of me when no one else could. Cooking my favourite foods, watching my favourite television programmes, reading to me wonderful local folklore, legends and stories and having night-time phone calls when I couldn’t be with you, almost every day. That has all been taken away from me now. You can never help me ever again, you can never take care of me like before and each time I dial the special number, all I get is the dead humming sound of silence. No one to talk to… no one to share my feelings. All that was between us is now in the thick brown heavenly soil. I know you loved me, I know you cared for me and I will never forget that. Rest in peace now little helper, I know you loved me, I know you cared for me and I wish I can bring you back. I wish I can be with you now… But all that separates us is the white heavenly clouds between the cruel and savage Earth and the infinite silent Space. Rest in peace now little helper, I will love you always… My little helper.
