After my son was born last July, I gained a lot of weight. I was nursing and knew I had to diet in a healthy way by eating the right foods to maintain my milk supply. In December, I spoke to Royal Emerald Director Karen Miller, who said her grandmother was having a weight loss meeting through AIM. I was very interested and decided to attend the day of the meeting. I learned a considerable amount. Eating smaller portions worked great for me. The first two to three weeks, I kept a journal of what I ate, including my AIM products, and counted my calories until I knew my limits. I drank lots of water. Drinking as many ounces of water as half of what you weigh is important each day. After one week, I lost seven pounds. I was elated! I had two shakes per day of AIM ProPeas® and AIM fit ‘n fiber®, which I used as meal replacements. I some­ times added frozen peaches. It made a very refreshing drink. Other times I had an apple, banana, grapefruit, or an orange with my shake. I ate a lot of salads the first couple weeks, but later on I ate more of what everyone else

Whenever weather permitted, I went on a ten- to twenty-minute walk, spring-cleaned my house, and occasionally helped with chores in the barn. There are many sides to diversity, including age, culture, and occupation. By looking at the occupational factor, you have an opportunity to begin exploring the diversity of jobs that expose millions of people to toxic chemicals on a daily basis, including hairdressers, janitors, landscapers, and firefighters. Contact groups related to such occupations (for example, a hairdressers association) to get mailing lists for sending newsletters. Even retail salespersons and cashiers are exposed to a thin layer of bisphenol A (BPA), a hormone-disrupting chemical that coats the receipts they handle every day. Think of the healthy difference that AIM BarleyLife could have on people in a wide variety of toxic jobs. As for opening the door into cultures different from your own, check out local, cultural fairs. Begin with a friendly “Hello!” and be open to exploring cultural differences that can introduce new worlds to you. during 11.6-mile hike No soreness post-hike, thanks to AIM Mag-nificence™ Shared by Bob Celski, AIM Director, Federal Way, Washington I recently had the occasion to hike the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park. The trail starts at about 4,200 feet, goes for 11.6 miles, and ends at about 6,500 feet on the continental divide in Montana. I hiked with two other gentlemen, one half my age—I’m fifty-seven—who is a hiker, and another who is about three to four years younger than me and an avid long-distance road biker. Now, I love to hike, but the last time I did anything of significance was over three years ago. The time before that was about six years ago. As always, I started my day with the AIM Garden Trio® and my regimen of AIM nutrition. We began hiking about 9:00 a.m., with me in the lead on a very steep grade. I had so much energy, I pulled away from these two guys who are in quite good shape. I kept having to wait for them, and once they caught up, I’d quickly pull away from them again. Neither of them could believe it. It was a warm, dry day, and along the way, I took another serving of AIM BarleyLife® and two servings of AIM Peak Endurance® and CalciAIM™ mixed in sixteen ounces of water. I couldn’t contain the energy! I led the party to a time of 4 hours, 44 minutes in 11.6 miles at altitude. We weren’t racing, just moving along quickly.
