Inflammation ‌ AIM’s natural solutions

Executive Message / Contacts

Supporting our future generations As the summer winds down and fall begins, I always think of when my boys were younger and headed back to school. Keeping them healthy during the school year was always a concern as the cold and flu season ran rampant through the winter months. We were blessed to have been in the AIM family from day one and had all the tools available to combat these illnesses and keep the sick days to a minimum. Now, I won’t say it was easy to get our young boys to enjoy a nice glass of barley, but after some time and their noticing that they were rarely ill, they soon came to believe that barley was a life force that they had to have to keep them on top of their game.

With this in mind, it is so critical at this time that we provide our young ones with the nutritional support and knowledge that will keep them healthy throughout their lives. When I read that the current generation of children has a lower life expectancy than their parents, I am shocked and saddened that this could even be so. Lifestyle diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity are taking their toll on not only our children but also the future of our society as a whole. As members of the AIM family, we all know that this does not have to be. We have to persist in spreading the word that nutrition does work and continue to build a generation that is not dependent on our health care system to fix all our troubles. It may not be easy, but it will be well worth it.

Inflammation can happen Daily Essentials Plus One— Frame Essentials®

+ Inflammation is at the core of pain and can happen anywhere in the body. Aches and pains are often accepted as a natural part of aging. This is especially true when it comes to a condition like arthritis, the diagnosis of which includes a wide spectrum of more than one hundred disorders. According to a prediction by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), by the year 2020 about sixty million Americans will be affected by arthritis. Arthritis fuels the sales of pain relievers, even though using such drugs—whether over-thecounter or prescription—can produce numerous side effects. Is there a natural way to prevent or combat arthritis? AIM’s answer is a resounding YES! Start with the Daily Essentials—greens, essential fatty acids, and fiber—all of which combat inflammation. And then add AIM Frame Essentials® as your Plus One for good measure.

Greens—A Daily Essential

A daily intake of AIM BarleyLife® or AIM LeafGreens™ provides an unparalleled, natural source of easily absorbed vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, chlorophyll, and enzymes that feed and protect your cells. Greens are an essential part of your diet because they supply the nutrients required to balance your body pH, combat inflammation, and maintain good health. 4 I 1-800-456-2462

Essential Fatty Acids—A Daily Essential

AIMega® is an organic seed-oil blend of essential fatty acids (EFAs) in capsule form for a convenient daily supply of omega-3 and -6. Essential components for the structure, maintenance, and function of your cells, EFAs must come from nutritional sources because your body cannot synthesize them. Along with a multitude of health benefits, EFAs are an integral part of the inflammatory response. Omega-3 decreases inflammation. Omega-6 increases inflammation, and as the modern diet is high in omega-6, most of us tend to be deficient in omega-3. AIMega provides a 2:1 ratio of these EFAs that helps to correct this imbalance and help fight inflammation.

Fiber—A Daily Essential

Fiber is an essential part of your diet, and AIM Herbal Fiberblend®, AIM FibreBalance® (CAN), or AIM fit ’n fiber® (US) supplement your fiber intake and help to reduce inflammation. Not getting enough dietary fiber may increase levels of blood sugar, cholesterol, or triglycerides, which can result in inflammatory health issues such as heart disease or diabetes. A cardiologist at the Mid America Heart Institute, Dr. James O’Keefe stated, “Inflammation is the common denominator in nearly all of the diseases we deal with … Heart disease,

anywhere in the body diabetes, dementia—they’re all tied to inappropriate, low-grade, chronic inflammation.” In such diseases, high levels of C-reactive protein (CRP)—an indicator of inflammation—are present in the blood. A highfiber intake may lower levels of CRP, so supplementing your diet with AIM fiber products can help to reduce inflammation. “Soluble fiber changes the personality of immune cells—they go from being pro-inflammatory, angry cells to anti-inflammatory, healing cells that help us recover faster from infection,” revealed Dr. Gregory Freund, a professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Plus One Frame Essentials

Along with the benefits of the Daily Essentials, Frame Essentials can be the Plus One needed to get you that much closer to helping prevent, combat, or ease the symptoms of many forms of arthritis, including osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis. Frame Essentials contains a combination of two types of glucosamine—sulfate and hydro chloride—plus methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and boswellia resin, providing a natural health product that supports healthy joints, where the pain of arthritis originates. Glucosamine is an essential element in the formation and repair of cartilage and other body tissues. As you age, your body produces less glucosamine, so supplementing with Frame Essentials can help to correct a deficiency. Naturally found in foods such as meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables in trace amounts, MSM is

Main Feature a beneficial sulfur compound especially for reducing inflammation and repairing joints and tissue. By improving blood circulation, MSM may also help glucosamine molecules reach damaged cartilage. Frame Essentials’ third ingredient comes from the resin of the boswellia serrata tree. Commonly known as frankincense, boswellia resin has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to maintain healthy joints due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, and analgesic

Boswellia serrata tree

properties. Research has shown that the benefits from boswellia result when, as in the Frame Essentials’ formula, the resin is standardized to 65% boswellic acid, which may support blood circulation, maintain mobility, and reduce joint swelling and pain. If you are living with arthritis or inflammatory conditions that create aches and pains, the Daily Essentials Plus One—Frame Essentials—can help at the cellular level. You are made up of trillions of cells, and healthy cells are essential to your wellbeing. Nourish them and feel the difference.

IM Director Darlene Vandermey in Wal lenstein, Ontario, certainly feels the difference. “Both my husband and I have experienced benefits to our overall health by using Frame Essentials in conjunction with the Daily Essentials—BarleyLife, Herbal Fiberblend and AIMega. “We are avid walkers and are now living in a place where there are many hills, so we really get a good work out, especially when using our Nordic Walking poles. Both of us have used the Daily Essential products for some time. When my husband started to have some foot pain due to arthritis, he added the Frame Essentials. The results have been that the pain is gone, and he can keep up the walking again. I find that the addition of Frame Essentials has helped to bring nutrition to my joints, particularly in the knees, which in turn has kept me walking. “We just keep feeling better and better following a healthy lifestyle, which includes AIM products.”

Testimonials should not be construed as representing results everybody can achieve.

IM Directors Ed and Tilda Bosman from Teviotdale, Ontario, discovered that using the Daily Essentials and Frame Essentials gave them the vitality, physical flexibility, and stamina needed for their busy lives. They are business owners and give of their time to church activities, as well as enjoy a busy and active family with their four adult children and their spouses, and their ten grandchildren. They use the recommended daily amounts of AIM Daily Essentials and Frame Essentials and increase their BarleyLife intake as needed, for example, when the flu or colds are going around. Ed had digestive challenges for most of his life but by being on the AIM Daily Essentials, his digestion has much improved. He now enjoys great health and has the stamina to do physical work and run without having any stiffness. Tilda used to have occasional constipation, but has had no problems since taking the Daily Essentials. Sharing the benefits and results of using AIM nutritional products with others is their way of saying “thanks” to AIM for allowing them to enjoy such good health and vitality.

effective juice program: a green vegetable juice, a carrot juice, and a beet juice. The AIM Garden Trio® combines these three juices. For those who have no chance to get a fresh vegetable salad or those who hate eating vegetables, Garden Trio provides a quick and effective solution.

Chairman’s Club Director Dr. Yu-Shiaw Chen from Stony Brook, New York, has devoted much of her life to assisting others with nutrition education. Through her years as a research scientist and her experience in biochemistry, Dr. Chen developed a successful nutrition program that includes healthy eating and the AIM products. In her new book, Healthy Eating, Wholesome Living, Dr. Chen details this nutrition program and explains how and why a nutritional lifestyle leads to living well. The following excerpt has been adapted from Dr. Chen’s book: We are supposed to have five servings of vegetables and four servings of fruits everyday. However, with our fast-paced lifestyles and modern day stresses, most likely we are just not able to meet this requirement. To avoid malnutrition, you can take whole food nutrition supplements to help provide the nutrition that your body is missing. Nutritional researchers have concluded that there are three juices that are the core of any

In my nutrition counseling, I have found that those who get discouraged easily by more strenuous diet plans find that this healthy, foodconcentrate diet plan was not as hard as they thought. After using the Garden Trio for awhile, those who used to dislike vegetables found vegetables acceptable. I have been recommending the Garden Trio for more than a decade, and it has helped countless people rebuild their health. In general, being over weight and struggling with obesity and chronic disease are results of malnutrition, which is when the body is depleted of essential nutrients and cannot get rid of the toxins and waste the body generates. Anyone who starts to supplement with AIM BarleyLife®, a product grown under organic conditions, will soon get dual benefits: nourishing nutrition and detoxification. It is natural that people experience all kinds of amazing healing miracles. Included throughout my book are personal testimonials of nutritional healing. Besides the importance of nutrition education, I attribute this to the high quality of AIM products. To order Healthy Eating, Wholesome Living, visit Dr. Chen’s website at September 2011

Leaf Greens AIM

he power of concentrated greens can do wonders on whole-body health. AIM LeafGreens™, which features the leaves of spinach, bean, pea, and barley plants in addition to broccoli sprouts, provides the equivalent of forty-four pounds of leaves in each pound of green powder. More leaves equal more nutrition.

So how does LeafGreens win the concentra tion game? AIM uses an exclusive ultra-cold filtration technique that chills the LeafGreens juice to below 44° F (6° C) and concentrates the juice through a series of filters. This forces water, salt, and sugars out, leaving a nutrientconcentrated juice behind. The benefits of nutrient-rich leaves are vast, including a significant amount of healthy protein, quercetin, and kaempferol. In addition, the broccoli sprouts in LeafGreens add a new layer of nutrients that research has found to have cancer-fighting properties. According to a recent study, the sulforaphane in broccoli may target and kill cancer cells while leaving healthy cells unaffected. The research showed sulforaphane’s ability to selectively target cancerous prostate cells and avoid healthy prostate cells. This cancer-fighting ability comes from the metabolic process of plant tissue; the unique aspect of sulforaphane is that it fights free radicals and has been proven safe. Nutrition from leafy, green vegetables is remarkably beneficial, and yet it is absent from the standard, North American diet. Missing 8 I 1-800-456-2462

I have noticed increased energy and a general, overall better feeling. My natural hair color is returning and replacing the gray hairs, and a brown birthmark-like spot on my leg is fading. “I also had some premenopausal issues where my period would last quite a long time when I was not taking LeafGreens. When I started to take it again, my period would finally end. I noticed that LeafGreens is high in Vitamin K, which helps the body to maintain healthy blood clotting. All these changes I have observed since I’ve been taking LeafGreens.” —Thirza Powell, AIM Director Conifer, Colorado Testimonials should not be construed as representing results everybody can achieve.

Radio Program

Toni Lund & Teresa Schumacher ® with Herbal Fiberblend

Aging Outside the Box On Thursday, July 7, AIM Chairman’s Club Directors Teresa Schumacher and Toni Lund appeared on “Aging Outside the Box® Syndicated Radio Show” to present their story and the health benefits of AIM Herbal Fiberblend®. During the program, Toni read testimonies on the powerful effects of colon cleansing, and Teresa shared her life story and how she came to be a pioneer in fiber nutrition. Listeners were treated to a wealth of nutrition information and first-hand experience about the right ways to live well. “If we put the wrong things in our body, the body cannot utilize them,” Teresa said. “And that’s how we get illness. If you put bad gasoline in your car, it may run for awhile, but eventually it’s going to break down. It’s the same way with what we put into our bodies.” Teresa’s story detailed her upbringing in Italy where her diet was rich in wholesome foods, fruits, and vegetables. The oldest of seven children, Teresa married an American boy and moved from Naples, Italy, to Laramie, Wyoming. The stress of moving to another country and the change to an industrialized diet wreaked havoc on Teresa’s health, leading to a myriad 10 I 1-800-456-2462

of complications down the line. Ultimately, she discovered herbal nutrition, which saved her life. “I was about 29 years old when I found help,” Teresa said, “and now I’m 86, going on 87, and I’m healthy, (take) no drugs, and I feel wonderful.” The testimonies shared by Toni represented a diverse sampling of the types of benefits people have received from Herbal Fiberblend. From overall health and wellness to parasite removal to detoxification, the stories painted a vivid picture of the benefits of proper fiber supplementation. In addition to sharing personal stories and testimonies, Toni and Teresa also promoted their books, Cleansing the Body for a Happier and Healthier You and Candida the Slow Killer. If you are interested in purchasing one of these books, go to, or call Toni at 435-673-3855. Teresa and Toni are scheduled to appear again on “Aging Outside the Box® Syndicated Radio Show” on Thursday, September 8. Check the AIM event calendar for details and for other appearances by AIM Members and staff. Testimonials should not be construed as representing results everybody can achieve.

Business Builder

Fun ideas win top prize in brainstorm contest

AIM Director Amy Houston from Epping, New Hampshire, submitted the top entry in AIM’s Business Brainstorm Contest, and her business-boosting tips will appear in their entirety in an upcoming Health Headlines. Amy has some great insight to share on the rewarding aspects of an online AIM business, and you can sense Amy’s excitement as she shares what has worked for her and what might work for you.

Here is a fun idea from Amy’s winning entry.

After watching a DVD of the 2009 movie Julie and Julia, a lightbulb went on in my head to use the idea of blogging for my AIM Business. When the new MyAIMStore web sites were introduced I was thrilled that they included the option to blog. I actually find myself teaching my downline to do this more than I have the chance to do it myself. I encourage AIM members to get familiar with the blog option on their MyAIMStore web site and learn how to get started blogging.

In the movie Julie and Julia, Julie Powell aspires to cook 524 recipes from a Julia Child’s cookbook in 365 days. Julie would make a recipe and blog about how she prepared the dish and whether or not it turned out well.  Every night she had something new to say, sometimes trials and sometimes triumphs. As time went by, she noticed that there were people following her blog posts. They would check her blog daily and sometimes leave her comments. This seems so simple and fun, so why not try something similar? For example, get a new recipe book and try to create a new healthy recipe for your family every night. Maybe a smoothie recipe book could help you blog about a new way to make Herbal Fiberblend taste great. When you blog a recipe don’t forget to give credits to the author. Include any mishaps or changes you make and let your readers know how it turned out and if everyone enjoyed it. Amy won a $100 VISA gift card for her Business Brainstorm entry. Second prize of $75.00 in AIM products went to Director Darlene Vandermey from Wallenstein, Ontario. Third prize of $50.00 in AIM products went to Group Builder Renata Radek from Guelph, Ontario. Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to all who took the time to send in business-building ideas.

We wouldn’t be without the AIM products Wayne and Sandy Combs, Chairman’s Club Directors, DeBary, Florida

The AIM products are what Wayne and I consider our lifeline. Both of us had allowed our bodies to get into serious trouble in our early years through poor eating choices and stresses in life. Yet, by giving our bodies AIM BarleyLife®, AIM Just Carrots®, AIM RediBeets®, AIMega®, AIM Proancynol® 2000, AIM CellSparc 360®, and AIM Herbal Fiberblend® as our base of products, we are both now living in excellent health, energy, and excitement for life. This sounds like a lot of products to some, but we know and can feel how the BarleyLife is our shot in the arm for energy, life, and rebuilding new healthy cells. Just Carrots positively affects our skin, eyes, bones, and livers. RediBeets

definitely makes our livers and gall bladders feel young. AIMega is a must for our skin, lungs, flexibility, and overall good health. Proancynol 2000 is an immune-system guard during flu season and a rescue for my joints that were once swollen and painful—no joint flare-ups since using Proancynol 2000. CellSparc 360 is a must for both of us to keep our hearts beating normally—no racing or flutters. Wayne claims that it helps him deal with blood sugar challenges and boosts his energy. I discovered that he is sneaking four capsules a day—he says that he notices a huge energy boost. We do not know how people live without Herbal Fiberblend.  We use other AIM products, too. We love them and can feel the benefits. We spend a lot of money each month on these products for our personal use, but we are worth it. At ages sixty-three and seventyone, we have packed up and moved our household belongings by ourselves. I could not have done all of the heavy lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs without the nutritional benefit of the AIM products. Wayne still enjoys renovating homes and building decks. We don’t feel old. We don’t get sick. Thank you, AIM, for giving us the nutrition that we need to live full, healthy, and rich lives. Testimonials should not be construed as representing results everybody can achieve.
