On the 13th of April 25 students from Colaiste na Riochta went on an overnight trip to Cappanalea Outdoor Activity Centre. They had two days jam packed with activities. The trip was great fun, exciting, exhilarating, and exhausting and we can’t wait to go back again! The activities included Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Ab-Sailing and Raft Building. A big thanks to our teachers Ms Breen, Ms. Lynch, Mr. Parker and Mr O’Sullivan who went and helped to make our trip so enjoyable!! The staff in Cappanalea were fantastic and are so patient and encouraging and really helped to make everyone feel confident and at ease during all the activities! Thanks so much to all in Cappanalea.

LISTOWEL HISTORY FESTIVAL 2018 The Seanchaí – Kerry Writers’ Museum, Listowel will host a number of historical events during Listowel History Festival (formerly Listowel Military Tattoo) which takes place from May 4th to 6th, 2018.

Ardfert historian and author Justin Horgan will give a lecture entitled ‘Luftwaffe Eagles over Kerry: The story of German air crashes in Kerry during World War Two’ on Friday May 4th at 8pm. German Airmen who crashed in Ireland during the Second World War and survived were interned here, becoming objects of great curiosity among local people who encountered them. People living in the southern coastal counties from Kerry to Wexford, had frequent reminders of the Second World War with warplanes making forced landings, or bodies being washed up on our shores. Based on his book Luftwaffe - Eagles Over Ireland, Justin will tell the story of those German Airmen and will focus in particular on those that crashed in Kerry.

Listowel historian Vincent Carmody will lead Listowel Historical Walk on Saturday May 5th, departing from the Seanchai at 9.30am.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Ireland Dr. Mary McAuliffe of UCD will give a lecture entitled ‘Women voted early and in large numbers’; Irish Women, the Vote & the 1918 General Election'. Mary will consider the importance of women's political activism and the women's vote to the Sinn Féin victory in the 1918 Election. Women canvassed, campaigned and voted for Sinn Féin in large numbers, and Mary will look especially at women’s political activism in Kerry in 1918'. This lecture will take place on Saturday May 5th at 8pm.

On Sunday May 6th the Museum will host an Arts & Craft Fair from 11am to 5pm where local craft products from pottery to knitwear will be on sale.

A Night To Remember Father Pat After Mass on Saturday 5th May we will be celebrating the life of Father Pat Moore PP with a Memorial Evening.

The aim of Listowel History Festival is to celebrate and highlight the unique history and heritage of Irish people locally, nationally and internationally. Other events taking place at the Festival include battle re-enactments, living history exhibitions and a commemorative ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of Ireland’s involvement in UN peace keeping missions in Lebanon.

The Duagh Development Association will be unveiling a bench that they commissioned in memory of the late Fr Pat Moore. There will also be a candle lighting ceremony with night lights in glass jars. People can enjoy some refreshments and entertainment in the marquee at the front of the church and can reminisce about their own memories or stories relating to the late Fr Pat. There will be music, singers and storytellers as well as a photographic slideshow going on in the background on one of the walls of the marquee. If you or anyone has any photos of Fr Pat maybe at a Christening, Communion, Confirmation etc the DDA would be very grateful and we would just scan them and hand them straight back to the owner, please call Sandra 087 6718377 .

The DDA are also requesting people from the parish to donate some home baking or make sandwiches for this evening as the DDA only have a handful of committee members. All foods can be dropped off to any member of the DDA on the day.

If anyone has any small glass jam jars, could you please keep them as we need lots for the candle lighting cermony, these can also be dropped off to any member of the DDA. Fr Pat really loved life, fun and laughter in the community so lets make it an evening to remember.

Charlene Tydings from Asdee organised a bucket Collection in Supervalu Listowel On Friday 13th April for Cystic Fibrosis day and raised €1,404.77 for TLC4CF.TLC4CF (Tipperary Limerick Clare For Cystic Fibrosis) is a Non-Profit Organisation.

Their aims are to Improve Services and Facilities for all Cystic Fibrosis Patients in the Mid-Western/Southern Region. All funds raised in 2018 will go directly to the new CF unit in Limerick where a lot of North Kerry patients attend for treatment.

65 Roses Campaign - 65 Roses is how children first learn to say Cystic Fibrosis.

What is Cystic Fibrosis? Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited chronic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system of about 1200 children and adults in the Ireland (70,000 worldwide).

Tarbert Good Friday Soup Kitchen Another Great Success…

The Good Friday Soup Kitchen was a great success again this year. “We would like to thank wholeheartedly all the local businesses and people who kindly donated bread rolls, soup and scones fro the day.

“We would also like to thank everyone who donated so generously on the day and afterwards. The amount raised was €4,000 for the Martin family, Tieraclea, Tarbert.”

Ballyduff Man’s Creation Honoured at All-Ireland Business Summit Leading lights in Irish Business descended on Croke Park last Thursday 19th April for the Fourth Annual All-Ireland Business Summit powered by Audi, where a 1000 strong audience from all 32 counties were captivated by the speakers who revealed their top secrets, confessions and the do's and don'ts that have helped them achieve their business success. The Business All-Stars competition final was one of the key elements of the summit.

CRAFT MAKERS OPENS IN LISTOWEL Craft Makers, a shop which will stock exquisitely made gifts, opens in Listowel as a pop up shop for one month from the 27th April next. Located in Galvin’s at 21William Street, Craft Makers will offer a selection of hand crafted gifts made in Kerry and surrounding counties. Craft Makers is a partnership between Deirdre Enright, Eileen O’Connor and Felicia Thomas and the three are well known in Tralee for their Centre on Ashe Street, which operates at Christmas time each year. “We love the pop up side of our business as it gives us a chance to work from different locations offering choice and high standards in gift-making to our customers”, Deirdre Enright stated. Deirdre is known for her work in the creative industries in Kerry and a partnership arrangement with Eileen and Felicia has allowed the brand to develop new opportunities.

Craft Makers likes to locate in iconic historical buildings. In Tralee they favoured a well known Victorian building on Ashe Street, in Listowel the exterior of Galvin’s premises on William Street appealed. The premises is much loved for its Celtic Revival plaster motifs, paired colonnettes and moulded cornices which date back to 1840. “It’s a delightful premises and it is wonderful to work with such caring owners in John and Breda Galvin who are delighted to see the premises open to the public again”, stated Felicia Thomas last week. Parnells pointed in the fourth minute before Jack Brosnans replied for Lixnaw with a point. Conclusion before Joe McGrath blew for full time. Two points separated the teams at half time 0-05 to 0-3 in favour of Lixnaw who had played into the stiff breeze. Having said that were it not for some very good goalkeeping from the Parnells goalie Lixnaw would have been much further ahead. Lixnaw stepped up a gear after the break, Michael Dennehy finding the Parnells net eventually. Lixnaw were now dominant in most areas and pushed on from there. Mikey Kelliher added two goals to ensure a Lixnaw victory before the Parnells goalie denied him his hat trick with another great save. The game fizzled out to its inevitable conclusion before referee Joe Murphy, who handled his first adult game very sensibly, blew the final whistle. The u14s were in Abbeydorney for their county league game and followed up their first round win over Ballyheigue with a fine win over the home side. Four Eoghan Stack goals and one each from Ivan Conway, Darragh Conway and Michael Nolan won the day for Lixnaw.

The u16s qualified for the final of the North Kerry league Div 2 with a comfortable 5-11 to 1-5 over Kilmoyley. Mikey Kelliher was the main man on target while he got good assistance from Aodhan Shanahan, Eoghan Stack, Darragh Conway Aidan O’Brien. They now play the winners of the Ardfert/ Parnells semi final with the final on Thursday May 10th.

The winner on the day with 37 points was James Flaherty. 2nd place was Greg O'Connor with 35 points. 3rd place was Padraig Fitzmaurice with 35 points.

4th place was Brendan Keane with 32 points. The front 9 was won by Eddie Enright with 19 points. The back 9 was won by Jerome McCarthy with 16 points. tarbert TARBERT NOTES To include items - notestarbert@hotmail.com or phone Patrick Lynch at 068 36117 DEATHS The death took place of Emer Ward (nee Carr) of Doonard Crescent and formerly of Old Grange, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. Emer, aged 69 died peacefully at her home on Wednesday 18 April following an illness borne with great courage and dignity. Her remains reposed at St. Mary's Funeral Home, Tarbert on Thursday 19 April. Requiem Mass which was concelebrated by Fr Sean Hanafin and Fr John O'Connor took place on Friday 20 April at 12 noon and burial took place in St.Mary's New Cemetery, Tarbert. In a poignant eulogy, Niamh Wall described her mother as a great home-maker for her 4 daughters and 3 sons. In 1970 she married her teenage sweet-heart, John Ward from Portarlington. In 1972 John and Emer set up home in Doonard Crescent where six of their seven children were born. John had taken up employment as a fitter with the ESB Power Station in Tarbert. Emer was involved with her family in the promotion of Community Games and athletics locally. She served on parent's associations at Tarbert National and Comprehensive Schools. She also became involved with Estuary Credit Union and helped with the running of the Good Friday Soup Kitchen and with the Shannonside Women's Group. In recent years she took a great interest in the progress of her grand-children.

Sympathy of the community is extended to her husband John, sons Niall, Fergal and Shane, daughters Niamh, Fiona, Emer and Ciara, brothers Pat and Evan, sisters Carmel, Ann and Attracta, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and a great grand-daughter Isla.

Sympathy of the community is also extended to Alice and Brendan O'Donnell, Hazel Grove, Tarbert on the recent death of Alice's mother, Maureen Ryan, Rosegreen, Co.Tipperary

LIVING IN RECOVERY There will be a special night in Tarbert Community Centre on Thursday May 10 at 8.30pm for all those seeking and living in recovery from addictions. Irish Olympian and Silver medallist Ken Egan, musician Shane McVicker and singer/songwriter Cathy C will share their own personal and inspirational recovery stories. HISTORICAL SOCIETY Dr. Declan Downey will give a talk in the Bridewell on Saturday next April 28 at 7.30pm. The talk is entitled 'From Tarbert to Nantes via Fontenoy, the O'Briens of Carrigaholt, Viscounts Clare from 1660 to 1745'. The O'Briens were the last lords of Tarbert before the arrival of the Leslies in the 1700's. Beidh fáilte roimh gach éinne agus cupán tae ar fáil.

TIDY TOWNS Geoff Hunt, Biodiversity Consultant did a survey of the Pottery/ Green river last week and was happy to report that "there were many aquatic species found there including mayfly nymphs etc. These are very sensitive to water pollution so finding them is scientific evidence of good quality water. Also found were two fish, the 3 Spine Stickleback and Lamprey ammocoetes.

Other water bugs were Pond Skater, Water Cricket and Fresh Water Shrimps ". The ongoing survey was commissioned by Tarbert Tidy Towns and a full report will be published at the end of the year.

TDA AWARD Comhghairdeas to Tarbert Development Association on winning a Kerry Community Award for 2018 and the second year in succession to have won such an award. This year's award was won for the Sensory Park project at Tieraclea. The formal prize giving will take place on Thursday May 10 at the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney. kilflynn SCÓR NA bpÁISTÍ COUNTY FINAL Conor Brennan, Cillian Hussey, Rosin Abeyta and Thomas Breen, represented St. Tressa’s National School, The Crotta Hurling Club and the North Kerry Hurling Board on Sunday April 22nd in the Scór na bPáistí County Finals at the Community Centre, Foilmore. In the Instrumental Music competition. The fabulous venue vibrated with the excitement and energy brought by all the participants who all attend Primary school. All the children were a credit to their clubs, parents and mentors and were a joy to watch all day. It was not Crotta’s day, with Kilcummin, East Kerry Board taking the medals, but what a fantastic achievement to compete in the County Final of Scor na na Paisti. The group, their parents and supporters had enjoyable days in Abbeydorney and Moyvane this year.

We are so proud of you all. Well done to Conor, Rosin, Cillian, Thomas and to your mentors Daragh and Conor Breen for all their time and dedication. WEDDING BELLS IN kILFLYNN Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Paul Culhane son of Maureen and Pat Culhane, Crotta, and Joanne Rattigan, daughter of Ann and Bernard Rattigan, Killererin , Co. The Crotta U16 Hurling Panel and their mentors provided a guard of honour for the newly weds outside the Church. Paul was selector for the Victories U-16 team who captured the County Championship U-16 title for the first time ever in the club in 2017.

The Bestman was Brendan Culhane and Groomsmen were Denis Culhane and Patrick Culhane. The Bridesmaids were Louise Deegan, Maria Rattigan and Claire Rattigan. A large crowd of family and friends attended the wedding ceremony and afterwards the wedding reception, which was held in Ballyseede Castle Hotel, Tralee. ATHLETICS Parents and teachers of primary school children in the Ballyduff area should note that the primary schools’ athletics sports will be held on May 23rd in Ardfert.

Pupils can qualify for the county primary schools’ sports from this event. Details will be sent to the schools later. Meanwhile, training for athletics continues on Wednesday evenings in Banna Beach Hotel from 7pm to 8pm. Cost is 2 euro. All juveniles from 7 years upwards are welcome and athletes for relay teams will be chosen at these training sessions. New athletes are especially welcome and no previous experience is required. BALLYDUFF GAA NEWS Senior Football: Ballyduff senior footballers suffered defeat in Coolard in the semi final of the County Junior Football Championship when they lost to Beale on Saturday evening last. Playing against the wind in the first half we were well in control leading by 0 – 6 to 0 – 3 with twenty minutes gone but two points from Beale left only the bare minimum between the sides at halftime . We seemed to lose our momentum in the second half and the concession of three goals in this period and some decisions going against us left us six points in arrears at the final whistle. Best of Luck to Beale in the Final.

Minor Football: Our Minor Football team had a great win over Bally/Asdee on Friday evening on the score Ballyduff 6 – 15 Bally/Asdee 1 – 6.

Minor Hurling: Our Minor Hurling team had mixed luck this week going down to Parnell's and were then awarded the points when Kilmoyley were unable to field a team on Sunday morning.

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Michael (Mike) Murphy, Tower Drive who died during the week. Mike was a sub on the 1955 Ballyduff Senior Hurling Championship Team that made the breakthrough after 64 years.

COISTE NA nÓG The U12s had another busy week. On Friday the hurlers travelled to Ardfert to take on St. Brendans. Unfortunately this young team was no match for the more experienced home team and it was an easy victory for St Brendans. The hurlers have a well earned rest now for a couple of weeks and their next fixture is away to Crotta on 11th May 2018.

The U12 footballers made the long trip to Kenmare on Sunday night. Due to lack of numbers it was a reduced squad and Kenmare proved too strong.

Feile qualifiers take place for U14's on Saturday in Crotta. We play Crotta at 11.00am and Lixnaw at 12.00 noon. Come out and support players and coaches!

The U14 hurlers continued their county league campaign on Saturday evening with a hard fought win over Ballyheigue. Even though they were missing some of their older players, the win shows the depth of skill and experience on the team.

The U14 footballers played Rathmore at home on Wednesday 18th April. The game was played in quite blustery conditions, Rathmore played with the wind in the first half and the teams were evenly match for some of the half, however Ballyduff got a goal and started to gain control of the game. The home team had a good spell early in the second half playing with the wind, and although Rathmore fought hard, they were unable to overcome the deficit. Final score 218 to 1-5.

The U16s played their North Kerry County League Football semi-final against Listowel on Monday night in absolutely atrocious conditions. In what was a very low scoring game, both teams dug deep to battle the elements and try and come out on top. Both teams traded scores for most of the game and it was difficult to see who the eventual winner would be. In the end the winning score came from JP O’Carroll to put Ballyduff on top at the final whistle 0 – 6 to 0 – 5.

ballylongford BEREVEMENT In the past few weeks the community was once again plunged into sadness with the sad passing of a number of lovely people. The unexpected passing of Kathleen O’Brien (Née Murphy) R.I.P. of Rusheen, came as a big shock when news filtered through of her passing on Saturday 7th April last. Kathleen was a wonderful woman in every respect, a wonderful neighbour, very easy going, but above all a great family woman whose love and pride of her family were paramount to anything else. She and her late husband Vincent R.I.P. were the perfect couple who enjoyed the opportunity of getting out to mingle with people as much as possible. Sadly when Vincent passed a huge void was created in Kathleen’s life but with the wonderful attention from her family of daughter Joan and husband Dan and son Ritchie and wife Alison along with her grandchildren whom she cherished life was made all the more comfortable for her. People have their own way of remembering people, and in Kathleen’s case most of us will remember her as being the kindly woman in charge at the Presbytery, because for numerous years she had been looking after the various priests that were assigned to the community. At that time there were two priests the Parish Priest and the Curate plus there would be visiting priests etc from time to time so there was quiet alot of work involved but that did not stress out the very energetic woman as she took everything in her stride and done her duties to the highest perfection. Sadly Kathleen’s passing will create a huge loss to her kind neighbours in Rusheen where she and her family spent many happy days and nights. It is to her family and particularly her daughter Joan and husband Dan her son Ritchie and wife Alison along with her grandchildren and family relatives that we offer our deepest sympathies and prayers at this sad and lonesome time for them. Requiem Mass for Kathleen O' Brien (née Murphy) took place on Monday morning (April 9th) at 11am with Funeral immediately afterwards to Aghavallin Cemetery, Rusheen. Back in March the 28th to be precise my own family witnessed the loss of my dear father Billy Enright Snr (R.I.P) of Corner House, Well Street. He was a wonderful man whose life centered around family and the outdoor life. A man who had been reared in the heart of “Sandes mountain” in the borders of Kerry & Limerick his love for the country side was un questionable and the outdoor life is what he craved. Unfortunately he was diagnosed a COPD patient for many years and battled many a battle with this unfortunate condition, but his last battle was a bridge too far for the poor man and after developing phenomena his battle was made all the more harder. But the wonderful care that he was given by specialists, doctors, nurses medical and general staff at the Bons Secours Hospital in Tralee will never be forgotten and will always be highly spoken of and appreciate by our family for the rest of our lives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who attended, sent messages of sympathy and support, called afterwards or sent mass cards etc. indeed it is all greatly appreciated a sincere thank you.

COMMUNITY GAMES Unfortunately there will be no Community Games within the Parish this year, due to unforeseen circumstances but thankfully the local children will not lose out, as both Ballydonoghue and Ballybunion Clubs have agreed to facilitate any children that wish to take part in any of the Community Games competitions. Children from Ballylongford interested in competing can do so by competing with our near neighbours Ballydonoghue while any interested athletes from the Asdee area can compete with near neighbours Balybunion. The Ballydonoghue Community Games Athletics Training has begun at Coolard G.A.A. Pitch on Sunday evenings between 5-6pm.

Preparation for events for Boys and Girls from U8 to U16 will take place and is open to children from Ballydonoghue and Ballylongford parish only. Ballydonoghue are planning to hold their Annual Athletics Competition Event on the afternoon of Monday 7th May (Bank Holiday) and training will continue every Sunday evenings until the County Finals which are on in Castleisland on the weekend of June 23rd & 24th. DUAGH GRAVEYARD COMMITTEE We hope to begin cutting and tidying up of the cemetery on Thursday April 26th from 5 p.m. onwards. If you have an hour or so to spare, we would be most appreciative. If you want to do a bit of work in the open air and in a sociable setting, please come along. Equipment and refreshments are provided. We will be short a number of helpers from last year so any additional help would be great.

Recently, we have had another regrettable incident where a contractor erecting a headstone in the cemetery failed to tidy up after himself. A large heap of sand was abandoned at the front wall of the cemetery. This shows a great lack of respect for the voluntary efforts of all those who work to keep the graveyard tidy and indeed, the efforts of Duagh Tidy Towns who were involved in a big tidy up in the parish last week. We would ask any person who is engaging the services of a contractor to perform works in the cemetery to please insist that they respect the cemetery and tidy up after themselves.

Junior Premier Championship - Relegation Play-off Emmets 0-18 V Annascaul 1-08 Our Seniors travelled to Strand Road on Sunday last to contest this vital game which would ensure our Junior Premier status for another year and the lads duly obliged with a dominant display. The opening quarter was a particularly strong period for the team as they raced into a 0-07 points to 0-01 lead with the lively Lorcan Moloney and Cathal Keane firing over good score's in between points from Conor Cox and David Keane who raised whites flags both from play and placed efforts. Alan Falvey with two and Cathal Ferriter kept the West Kerry side in touch until Cox added to his tally before Noel Kennelly hit the final score of the half.

Emmets were facing a stiff breeze for the second half and they knew that they needed to keep the scoreboard ticking over as Annascaul were yet to really hit a purple patch in the game. Conor Cox opened the scoring with a super effort from a long range free one minute in but Annascaul took great advantage of the wind and hit 1-02 over the next four minutes of play to leave just one point between the teams. Niall Collins who was having another good outing at midfield hit his first score of the game four minutes later and this was quickly followed by Sam Tarrant who steadied the ship with a good point after Bryan Sweeney ran at the Annascaul defence and opened the space out wide. Alan Falvey scored a good point just a minute later but this was as good as it got for his team as Emmets took total control of matters from here on in with Joe Joe Grimes, Tarrant and Ger McCarthy all getting their name on the score sheet in between three more points from Cox, two of which were from play. The result means that Listowel will once again compete at this level next year and Annascaul must now face Ballydonoghue in the relegation final. Both teams played some breathtaking football throughout the game. Both teams started very well and it was Killorglin who nearly took an early lead after a soft back pass fell kindly to their striker but Celtic keeper Jack Maloney was out quickly to excellently save. We took the lead through Kieran O'Carroll 15 mins in after he intercepted a Killorglin clearance and with the keeper off his line unleashed an unstoppable shot from 30 yards out over the keepers head. We were playing some lovely football and our two wide players Aoife Horgan and Kieran O'Carroll were causing Killorglins defence loads of problems. We found ourselves 2 goals to the good after Kieran O'Carroll pounced on a defensive error and slotted passed the keeper for his second.

Half time 2-0. The second half started fairly even, but Killorglin seemed to find an extra gear and pulled one back, which has to be the goal of the game, after a Listowel clearance, the Killorglin midfielder hit a fierce first time shot 25 yards out which hit the top corner a split second after leaving his boot.

Killorglin searching for the equaliser started to dominate things. The equalis-

er came after a superb delivery into the Listowel box from a Killorglin free was headed in at the far post. Both teams continued to apply pressure and created numerous chances to win the game, but neither could find that winning goal. Full time 2-2.

In to extra time & again both teams played some excellent football & had chances to nick the all important winner, Celtic keeper Jack Maloney produced a top drawer save late into ET to keep the score level. After an absolute top notch game. The only way to separate these two excellent young sides was penalties.

Having won the play off on penalties 2 weeks earlier we decided to stick with the same takers with the exception of the final taker Anthony Kavanagh who had not long came off the pitch after emptying the tank for his team.

Both teams scored their first four penalties. The excellent Jack Moloney saved Killorglins 5th, up stepped Christopher McQuaid who held his nerve to score the winning penalty to send us through to the final where we will meet St Brendans Park. Another great performance from every single player in this squad.

Our under 10 girls hosted our friends from Killarney Celtic last Sunday evening in Pat Kennedy Park. The large crowd in attendance were treated to a great evening and witnessed some fantastic soccer from both clubs. A big thanks to Natasha and all the lads from Killarney for coming over and providing top class opposition. Thanks to our refs Kevin and Tom who done a great job.

Thank you to Mastergeeha for hosting our under 13's last Saturday for a great game of soccer, where sportsmanship came first and results second.

Munster Track & Field: Munster Junior & U/23 T&F Championships were held in sunny Templemore last Saturday. Lios Tuathail AC athletes did well on the day.

Aoife Mahony won gold in the Junior 800m race and also completed in the 400m distance. Michael Tony got a PB in the Long Jump with 6.19m and finished fourth in the Triple Jump. Ben Sheehan and Nathan Wright performed well in their events with a PB for Nathan in the 200m. Dermot Pierce won the Listowel Park run last Saturday with a good time of 20:26.

Fixtures: All Juvenile athletes please note that the county T&F championships is fixed for May 12th and 13th of May. This is one of our most important fixtures in our calendar. All athletes will be expected to take part in this event as we try for three in a row of Best Overall Club.

County Senior, Junior and Masters is fixed for May 6th and the Munster Senior and masters is fixed for June 10th. Both of these events will be in Castleisland.

Minor Co. League St Senans 1-20 Currow 4-13

A great second half performance on Saturday evening earned Beale seniors a place in the final of the County Junior Club Championship. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half, we were rather wasteful upfront but pulled back the scores in the lead up to the short whistle. We went in at the interval trailing by a point, 0-5 to 0-6.

The teams exchanged points on the changeover and we levelled within minutes. Two quick well-executed goals rattled our opponents and we took control of the game. Our third goal put the writing on the wall for Ballyduff and while they worked hard and pulled back a few points, the result was never really in doubt. We secured our place in the final on a score line of 3-10 to 0-13.

We play Lispole in the final on Saturday, May 5th, in Austin Stack Park, Tralee at 7 o’clock. Goals were the order of the day when Beale minors secured a semi-final spot in the County League, Division 4, with a comprehensive win over St Pat’s in Blennerville last Friday evening. The final score read 6-10 to 2-9.

Beale juniors’ North Kerry League, Division 3, game against Ballydonoghue was postponed as a mark of respect to Bud O’Connor, former Shannon Rangers and of Ballydonoghue GAA Club player. We await details of rescheduled game.

Our next round of the County Senior League, Division 4, against Skellig Rangers is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Pâirc de Staic at 2 o’clock.

We have two games in May. On May 13th we travel to Cordal and then we host Castlegregory in Pâirc de Staic on May 27th.

Knocknagoshel seniors suffered defeat at the hands of Scartaglin in the county league round three game played in Castleisland on Sunday last. The focus now switches to the novice championship where Knocknagoshel play Clounmacon in the quarter final on Sunday next April 29th at 2.30p.m. in Knocknagoshel.

Senior Co. League: St Senans 2-10 Laune Rangers 1-13 Cathal Kennelly and Colm O’Shea exchanged points in the opening minutes, Senans took the lead after a great passage of play involving Sean Weir, Jason Browne and Cathal Kennelly with a perfectly placed pass which Sean O’Connell crashed to the net. Jason Browne then increases Senans lead with a point. Laune Rangers rallied and replied with goal and then a point by Shane Mangan to see the sides level at the end of the first quarter. Laune Rangers upped the tempo slotting two further points and Senans had a point from a free however Laune Ranger took the lead on a score of 1-07 to 1-03 but Sean O’Connell was on form and kicked 1-01 in the final minutes of the half and the sides were level 2-04 to 1-07 at half time.

On the resumption a Laune Rangers free gave them the advantage Eoin O’Connell levelled matters with a fine point minutes later and the sides still couldn’t be separated heading into the final quarter. The sides exchanged points again in the final minutes and had to settle for a point each on the league table. Senans preformed well with the backs defending ferociously and the forwards making the most of their chances in a packed defence by Laune Rangers.

Congratulations to our outstanding U14 camogie team & management on a great win in the Feile 'A' final. Played in Austin Stack Park on Monday night in awful weather conditions. The Causeway girls didn't let this affect their game and dominated right from the start. Ellen O' Donoghue had the sliotar in the back of the Cillard net before the sizeable crowd had a chance to settle in their seats. Ellen added another 5 points 2 from frees before Cillard regrstered their 1st score. Half-time Causeway 1-5 Cillard 0-3. The 1st half was not just all Ellen, Grainne Shanahan, Mai Whelan(capt), Erin O' Sullivan, Myra Danielak, Sarah Kearney, Niamh Gentleman & Cara Cullen were all working hard to ensure Causeway stayed on top with some great runs, blocking and defending keeping Cillard's scores to a minimum.

2nd half Ellen opens with a goal quickly followed by a Cillard goal. Both teams are working hard with possession going back and forth as girls find it hard to keep onto the ball. Conditions are less than ideal but with the dealine of Friday looming for the winners name to be forwarded for the All Ireland Feile in June this was the only date agreeable to the clubs. Some of the girls would be playing county football at the weekend and would be on a match ban for the rest of the week so regardless of weather the match had to be played. Kate Kenny in goals Emma Conway full back kept the Cillard forwards at bay driving the ball forward time and time again. Alanna Garcia & Marissa Hanly keep a tight watch letting nothing by them. With some good team work by the Causeway forwards Eilis Gaynor & Daithli Ní Fhuarain, Tara Burke has the ball. Tara takes on the Cillard defence and wins goal number 3 for Causeway. 3-5 to 1-3 and with time nearly up Cillard tap over the final score. The whistle is blown to the delighted of the Causeway players, management and supporters. The Feile cup returns to Causeway. Final score Causeway 3-5 Cillard 1-4.

Well done to the girls on both teams for taking to the field on such a miserable night and playing your hearts out. Both clubs can be very proud of such a skilful display of camogie by all the girls. The future of Kerry Camogie looks bright.

SCOR NA BPAISTI:. Both the Moyvane GAA Ballad Group and Leiriu performed exceptionally well in their respective categories of the Scór na bPaisti County Final held in Foilmore on Sunday last. Every child gave of their very best and the smiles on their faces as they performed and after they left the stage was so worthwhile to witness. Although the results may not have gone in their favour, the fact that they reached a County Final is a huge achievement and they are all winners in our eyes. AN RAS TAILTEANN STAGE FINISH IN LISTOWEL ON TUESDAY MAY 22ND Listowel Cycling Club is delighted to announce that An Ras Tailteann, the biggest Cycle Race in the Country will visit Listowel this year when Stage 3 will finish in Market Street.

The route will see the RAS start in Tipperary Town at 11am that morning and come through Tarbert, Ballylongford, Asdee, Ballybunion before finishing in Market Street around 2.30pm. The Ras will attract Professional and Top International Teams to compete against the best of the Irish County Teams.

After the excitement and colour of the recent Kerry Group Ras Mumhan in Listowel this is another huge event for the town. There will be in excess of 400 bed nights in the area.

Listowel Community Games Win Double Gold in Badminton Huge congratulations to the Listowel Community Games boys and girls Badminton teams who represented Listowel last weekend in University of Limerick at the Community Games Munster finals.

The girls met Clare in the final where they won 2-1. Making them Gold medal winning Munster Champions.

The boys also met Clare in the semi finals winning 3 - 0. They then went on to win the final against Limerick 3-0, also making them Gold medal winners and Munster Champs.

The teams were boys: Shane Gleeson, Eddie Healy, Philip Healy, Sean Mahony, Jack McElligott and Nikolai O'Callaghan Girls: Madison Carter, Lily Harte, Ellie Ava Liston, Agata Niedzielska, Fiona O'Connor and Deina Vesko.
