The area east of Sukhumvit highway never ceases to amaze me. I have been banging on for some time about the number of eateries, family pubs and restaurants already open and there are more opening almost as I write. One very pleasant surprise was coming across a little bistro style place just inside the entrance of Pattaya Green Vill (that’s how they spell it) on Siam CC road. Right next to the swimming pool with covered and open seating areas for you to enjoy your food and drink whilst keeping an eye on the kids. I tried their fish ‘n chips and it defeated me, three nuggets of delicious battered fish, real chips and a tasty mixed salad. The missus had Tom Yang Talay and ate the lot, she’s a fussy madam so it must have been good. I have frequently mentioned the Deli Bean located on the way to Horseshoe Point, well they are expanding and are about to open another outlet opposite the reservoir next door to a place called PS Land & House. Behind the deli will be a family home-style restaurant with initially a weekend carvery, this will be named The lakeside and aimed at families where little Jonnie will be encouraged to eat his greens. Obviously everyone is welcome and if the standard of the carvery is anything close to the Deli Bean we are in for a real treat. Opening this month … Finally for now we have a recently opened pub behind the Birdie Bar again on Siam CC road. This is smart, very smart and the standard of furnishing and decoration is superb. Even the loo puts mine to shame and a model that others could follow. There will be changes in the format soon but already a dress code applies, no bare chests, no vests or singlets. Worth a visit. 46
