becomes the standard Super yachts, super destinations and super transport all show an increasing interest. When normal becomes too mainstream, super becomes the standard. Figures show the market for super yachts grows year after year, from a cumulative total of two thousand yachts sold in 2000, to more than double with over five thousand total produced by the end of 2015. And with this rise, the demand for super destinations rises too.

How to a yacht?
From the beginning of trade commerce, the need to transport goods and services to distant places was accomplished by ship on navigable waters. Yacht transport is still relatively a new idea in an everexpanding globalized world and with the yacht marine industry growing exponentially, popular cruising areas are quickly becoming overcrowded.
Congested marinas and marine traffic have forced adventurous yacht owners to seek out remote and pristine waters that have yet to be overrun. Hoping to claim the title of the next yacht cruising hub, underdeveloped coastline countries are racing to build luxury marinas, condominiums, and marine services infrastructure in the South Pacific. Even with the progress on locales’ availability, bringing a yacht from location to location can be both financially and logistically problematic. The burdens of fuel cost, general depreciation from wear and tear on engine components, crew fatigue, and the possibility of loss and/or damage to a yacht owner’s vessel during a normal passage are issues that few superyachts are able to manage. However, what happens when you simply lack the range capability to make longdistance journeys to remote locations? This is
when the shipping of yachts is evermore a popular idea and makes sense. DECIDING HOW TO TRANSPORT YACHTS. When deciding to transport a yacht, an owner has one of two options. The original and leading yacht transport companies own their own ships, however there are several companies that have employed the freight forwarding strategy. Whereas both types of yacht shipping business models aim to achieve the same service, they do not have the same standards of excellence or performance. Companies like Sevenstar Yacht Transport and DYT Yacht Transport own their own ships. This allows them to have complete control over service routes and scheduled port calls, sometimes reaching firm, near-liner services. Freight forwarders however must rely on the schedules of freight service companies and the

METHOD OF TRANSPORT Once a company is selected, freight forwarder or ship transport owner, there are still two predominant methods on how the yacht cargo is loaded. The method of choice all depends on what kind of service the yacht owner prefers. These two methods are commonly referred to as lift-on/liftoff and float-on/float-off loading.

What to Expect When You Fly on Private Jets

If you fly commercially, private aviation may seem like a new world to you. Flying privately provides many more options giving you the flexibility to choose airports closer to your final destination, set your departure time based on your schedule, and choose your meals based on your preferences.

Boarding a private jet is a very different experience from boarding a commercial aircraft. Rather than waiting in line for your seat row to be called and then walking down a jet bridge and waiting for other passengers to be seated before you can get to your seat, boarding a private jet is a comfortable and pleasurable experience. There are minimal checking and security procedures, no baggage weigh-in or x-raying, no baggage pickup, zero wait on the tarmac and “ramp access� with your car. Generally, one of the pilots greets the passenger(s) in the passenger lounge of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO), verifies their identification, and informs them that the aircraft is ready for boarding. Then, the pilot takes the luggage and loads it into the baggage compartment of the aircraft while the passengers walk up the stairs and into the aircraft. Once the passengers are onboard, the flight crew gives a safety overview and then the aircraft begins to taxi to the runway.
Fixed Base Operators Most private aircraft depart from and arrive at Fixed Base Operators (FBOs). An FBO is a service center at an airport that offers services including aircraft fueling, cabin supplies, and aircraft maintenance. FBOs are generally located away from the main commercial airline terminals and offer a much less congested and hassle-free way to begin and end your flight. FBOs typically include a passenger lounge, crew lounge, and sometimes even restaurants and catering suppliers.

Unmatched comfort regardless the size Private jets are designed and built for a wide variety of missions. They range from light cabin jets which usually seat a maximum of 7 passengers to large cabin jets seating up to 14 passengers. Some aircraft types are perfectly suited for shorter flights such as New York to Miami or Monaco to Berlin, while others are designed to connect the continents with non-stop capability on flights such as San Francisco to Tokyo or New York to Moscow. In addition, some private jets are designed for high-speed flight while others are designed to operate at small airports with short runways. There are nearly 50 different types of private jets in production today, and each has its own unique set of characteristics and capabilities. Modern private jets combine unmatched comfort with many of the latest communication and entertainment offerings. Private jets are typically configured to seat between 7 and 14 passengers, and many aircraft include leather seats (many of which recline to a fully flat position for sleeping), fully-enclosed lavatories, Wi-Fi, individual video monitors, satellite radio, in-flight telephones, full galleys, and much more. Ideal for pet lovers, many people choose to fly privately because it affords them the opportunity to bring their pets in the cabin. Large private jets are equipped with full galleys that allow a flight attendant to prepare basically any type of meal, including hot meals, as long as it is requested in advance. For smaller jets, passengers may choose from a variety of cold food options from local caterers. Generally, the aircraft is permanently stocked with snacks, water, coffee, tea, soda, and alcoholic beverages.

Although some private jets can fly faster than commercial airliners (the Gulfstream G650 has a top speed of 982 km/h), the biggest time saving of a private jet is the end of unnecessary waiting while you are still on the ground.
Private jets offer passengers the ability to make business and recreational trips that would be otherwise difficult when flying on commercial airlines. Meeting your yacht after it has been transported to remote areas by private jet allows you the freedom for more direct routes and improved time management. This is true with all sizes of aircraft depending on your need. Smaller light jets like Cessna’s Citation Mustang make it possible to have meetings in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Milan in one day and still get you home that night whereas on bigger aircraft models, capable of flying faster and further, it’s possible to have breakfast meetings in Hong Kong, business lunch in Shanghai and dinner in Mumbai. When you fly on a private jet you are in complete control of your own schedule and destinations. This means you can arrange an aircraft at short notice or submit a last minute flight change using your mobile phone. Even if you wish to change your plans and land at a different airport half way through your flight, it is usually no problem. And of course, if you are running late, the aircraft waits for you.
Next time you fly on a commercial aircraft, count the minutes – or even hours – that it takes between getting to the airport and actually taking-off. Think of the lines at immigration and security, the time it takes all of the passengers to board and the long wait for your luggage after you have landed. When you fly on a private jet, the average waiting time at an FBO is around five or six minutes. There is no pointless queuing and no rushing from one gate to the next. When you land, a car will be waiting to take you to your final destination with minimum fuss. This time saving is even greater when business jets allow you to fly direct and avoid connecting flights or – as is often possible – when you fly into a business jet airport closer to your actual destination.

3. Comfort To commercial airlines you are just a seat number. On a private jet the crew are truly there to serve you; they will refer to you by name and treat you as valued customer. You can also forget the vacuumpacked stodge that you’re used to eating while flying on airlines, there are now plenty of specialist catering companies that provide fine dining for private jet passengers and even Michelin-starred chefs. Even the smallest private jets – although not much bigger than a car – provide enough space to sleep, entertain and do business. At the larger end of the private jet spectrum, converted airliners – also known as ‘bizliners’ – are often described as “flying apartments” and include fully-furnished bathrooms, master bedrooms and features as lavish as you can possibly imagine. But the comfort of business aviation starts before you board your private jet. Once you arrive at the airport, the FBO and/or aircraft operator will guarantee your private jet experience is as comfortable as possible, offering an impeccable standard of service until you reach your final destination. Your luggage also travels in the jet with you and can be loaded straight into your car, which is important if you are carrying valuable items. The only baggage limit is that it has to fit onboard. Liquids are ok, all you want, from Champagne to perfume. And children and pets aren’t merely tolerated – they’re welcomed!

Private jets are described as “private” for a reason. When you arrive at the terminal, you are seconds away from stepping onto the aircraft without attracting any unwanted attention. When you are on board, you are free to behave as if you were at home, or to discuss business, without the risk of compromising sensitive information. Larger private jets also feature separate conference facilities, allowing you to make the most of your time even when you’re 40,000 ft above the ground.
Good private jet operators have impeccable safety records. They select only the best pilots following a rigorous recruitment process and enforce safety management systems that rival any commercial airline. In countries were the local airlines have been involved in a number of incidents, some companies will only allow their staff to fly on a private jet, because they feel it is far safer. When you own a private jet, you also have the freedom to select your own pilot(s) and flight crew to guarantee peace of mind.

VALLEE DE MAI AND AL DIGUE Situated on the only granitic island in the Indian Ocean, Praslin is the second certified UNESCO World Heritage Site dedicated to preservation of unique ecosystems. Here the primitive and nearly untouched virgin palm forest was one coined, “the Garden of Eden.” Looking for a once in a lifetime experience, one will find many species of plants and animal that cannot be found elsewhere on the planet. One of six endemic palm trees, the “coco de mer” palm, produces the largest double-seed nut that can weigh up to 42 kg, and holds prized cultural significance to locals. Hiking through the natural reserve one will encounter exotic birds including the endangered Seychelles Black Parrot, Seychelles Blue Pigeon, and Seychelles Sunbirds. Along the etched out trails, tiger chameleons, giant geckos, and green tree frogs can be seen quickly darting in all directions as you traverse the thick vegetation. Still not impressed, the nearby island of Digue has the top ranked beach in the world with light pink sand called Anse Source d’Argent.

ALDABRA The first UNESCO World Heritage Site, this island chain is a little further from the main Seychelles, but is probably one of the most beautiful sites to be seen. The second largest coral atoll in the world, Aldabra is the place to be. This island is a paradise for everything water related, below and on the surface. Water sports, tender cruising, and land excursions are among the top on itineraries. Over 100,000 giant tortoises roam the grasslands of the island and guests to the atoll will have prime access to unbelievable snorkeling with manta rays, tiger sharks, and whale sharks; the largest fish in the world. There are guided tours, but one can take advantage of following the local fishing boats, as the whale sharks are around snacking on the fish that escape the nets. It is said that if you want to fully immerse in a new culture, it takes a short trip to the local marketplace; and Seychelles is rich with it. Originally built in 1840, the heart of the Seychellois’ culture is the place to buy fresh fish, local exotic fruits and vegetables, and spices. Here you can also bring some of Seychelles home from one of the many colorful boutiques. A visit to Mahé’s busy and colourful market is the way to get a feel for the Seychellois and their way of life. Built in 1840 and renovated in 1999, it remains the bustling heart of the capital and definitely the best place to buy fresh fruits, fish, vegetables and spices. An attractive array of boutiques and shops selling a variety of souvenirs, clothing and local works of art further complement the lively atmosphere that is especially vibrant on Saturday mornings.
NAVASAKTHI VINAYAGAR TEMPLE
This unique and brightly colored edifice adorned with hindu deities has been a place of worship since 1992. With a large South Asian cultural presence, Seychelles has even declared the Taippoosam Kavadi Festival from the temple as a national holiday. This is a parade festival where locals enter a trance-like dance ritual to test their faith by physically inhibiting themselves with heavy rocks or a series of pressure points spikes in their skin. Definitely a sight to see!

You have arrived, welcome to your charter in the Tahitian islands, home of the world’s friendliest people! With so much to see and to do in Tahiti, a tailor-made adventure awaits you!
Arriving in Papeete, Tahiti on the day your charter trip starts is just the beginning. Be prepared for a once in a lifetime pampering adventure where you will get to taste the flavors and see the sights. A day in Tahiti, believed to resemble a sea turtle on the water’s surface, can be spent relaxing waterside or joining the crew guided tour of a few local hotspots. Hike through the jungle on the northeast side to experience the most renowned waterfalls in the islands. Here you can visit, “les trois cascades” within a short walking distance between each of three spectacular displays of cascading white water. Or visit the craggy coastlines where erosion from the

waves have carved out partially submerged caves and naturally occurring blow holes. The Arahoho blowhole is located nearby a black sand beach and boasts the largest water spray! Not the hiking type, hit the links at the Olivier-Breaud golf course instead. Afterwards, make it back to the yacht in time for a sunset creole inspired seafood dinner while cruising towards the nearby island of Moorea. The soft lapping of waves against the hull of the yacht gently wake you to a tropical palm forest with distant water bungalows trailing from the white sand beaches. This island is nature’s waterpark.
Moorea is the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem made up of over 3,000 individual colonies. These reefs are perfect for snorkeling, SCUBA diving, surfing, jetskis, kite surfing, you name it, or just swim around the yacht’s swim platform. Feel like walking around the island? Join the tiki village for Polynesian hula dancing with a beach luau. You can even swim with dolphins at the nearby lagoon pools. After a long day, take comfort you can relax while voyaging to the next island of Huahine with a chance for sport fishing along the way. Based on the Polynesian word for woman, ‘vahine,’ Huahine resembles the profile of a pregnant woman laying on her back. This is the birthplace of the Polynesian culture in the region and is where the evidence of past Tahitian royalty prospered. After buying locally made souvenirs from the small village, explore the ruins of past temples and ceremonial sites. You can even see ancient stone fishing traps across the main inlet. This traps are considered so sacred that only Tahitian royalty are able to move them. But, you can feel like royalty when you take home a one-of-a kind black pearl necklace from the pearl farms on the eastern coral outcrop. Spend the evening with a sundowner cocktail and catch up on quality family time. As the sun streaks across the sky for the fifth day in tropical paradise, contemplate what it would be like on a deserted island as you enjoy a breakfast of local fare and exotic fruits. Just a short cruise over to the uninhabited island of Tahaa, this island is home to famed Tahitian

vanilla pod plantations and accounts for nearly eighty percent of the world’s supply of French vanilla bean. Enjoy a beach barbeque and nature as another day draws to end with remarkable ocean sunsets. By afternoon the next day, Bora Bora comes into view and will be the final destination. After anchoring nearby Hotel Bora Bora, enjoy a lunch and cocktail at the famous ‘Bloody Mary’s’ bar. Just like the rest of Tahiti, most of the activities are aqua-centric. Take the tender to explore the massive surrounding lagoon and atoll. Snorkeling with manta rays and even hand shark feeding are top of the list of activities. Spend these last two days fully enjoying the friendly nature of the locals, shopping, and even eat at near Michelin star quality restaurants. Ranked number 1, La Villa Mahana only has 9 tables set in a private high-end tropical setting with an amazing wine list and gourmet French cuisine. Based in Amsterdam just behind Central Station, Nautical VR is the virtual reality studio specialized in creating luxury yacht walkthroughs. After over a year of development, their experiences are seamless transporting the viewers through a virtual reality headset onto a super yacht giving the impression that they are actually there in real-world scale. We asked Nautical VR a few questions.
Why virtual reality and for whom? Super yacht brands, naval architects and designers have traditionally been using 2d/3d renderings on monitors, lookbooks, and real world demonstrations in order to express their work and vision. Potential or existing clients need to be impressed and their time is limited. With virtual reality, the client can acquire an immediate and accurate impression from the creators. The sound and visuals of the sea, the ability to explore, the switching out of different interior or exterior options, all in real-time… it’s an impressive experience.
Sounds like VR would do well at a trade show... Our virtual reality productions are desirable from a conversion perspective, especially at trade-shows as well as company headquarters and with agents. Furthermore architects and designers can use virtual reality to improve their workflow together by being able to better visualize each others ideas. This reduces guesswork when it comes to what the final product would look like. Speeding up the process means longer horizons for a shipyard’s pipeline.

But what about specific virtual reality productions for future owners?
Do you provide the required hardware?
Absolutely. Having a VR experience is both inspiring (experience your yacht before it’s completed) and enables for easier decisionmaking... Afyon or Michelangelo marble? Armani or Pierre Frey fabrics? It’s easier to make the choice when you can see the final result beforehand. Future owners also have the benefit of being able to share their choices with friends and family on the go through a mobile VR headset as Nautical VR’s engine can render 360 degree virtual videos after selections have been made during the experience.
Yes we do. We have custom built mini-towers assembled to the highest specifications, a necessity when dealing with real-time interactive VR experiences. We setup, customize and install all required software and hardware including the best virtual reality headsets and controllers on the market. We also have an in-house graphics department so we can brand the hardware accordingly. The mini pc, portable screen, and headset fit into a large carry on. It’s quick to setup and quick to take down.

Half moon cruises ‘home’
Pictures could be found in various local news papers and on television when the historic vessel Half Moon of the former Dutch VOC company was shipped from New Port USA to IJmuiden. A big crowd turned up at the discharge of The Half Moon in IJmuiden. During a three hours live television program on Dutch television RTVNH, viewers could follow the whole discharge process. The discharge went very smoothly and the Half Moon was put safely back in the water. 28
THE HALF MOON The Half Moon is worldwide known as the fly-boat on which Henry Hudson in 1609 in command of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) started looking for a new route to the East. On this trip he explored the coast of North East America. This exploration was the beginning of
the colony of New Netherlands (later New York). The Half Moon has become a symbol for the Dutch contribution to American history. The current Half Moon is a carefully reconstructed replica of the original 17th century flyboat and is built in 1989. After 25 years sailing in American
waters, the Half Moon came to Netherlands. For at least five years the new home-port is Hoorn. The ship completes the image of the beautiful historic port, and tells the story of the trade city Hoorn in the golden age in an exposition at The Westfries Museum.

nts say For my clients I have shipped several vessels, the latest a 40m motoryacht to and from Fort Lauderdale to the Med. In the spring, we arrived Genoa to start our summer season in the Western med, and then loaded back on in Palma for trip back to Florida. Again the loading and unloading were effortless and streamlined for our convenience. Some of our crew were allowed to ride on board and perform maintenance and engineering tasks which was very helpful and even necessary for some items. DYT’s Gina Last was excellent in her kind assistance working with our often changing yacht schedules and destinations and will continue to use their services when needed. I choose DYT as they do not load with cranes, straps, etc, but with a simple and extremely safe process. They provide water and power, which I am not able to get a guarantee of from deck loaded operators. Also, the provision for a crew as rider is not always acceptable to these shippers, so DYT makes good sense from both service and operations.
